Wonderful!!!! The best questo quella ever!!! Dont know about you guys, but sounds to me that Pavarotti in the 60's is the best tenor ever, about his singing in the 90's and after 2000 there might be desputes, but for me Pavarotti from 60's is the deffinition how a tenor should sound like. Bravo Luciano!!!
Sometimes I wish I had lived in the mid 1800's when Joe Green was composing, but I would have never heard PAVAROTTI. The man had the perfect mixutre of happiness, and mischief in his voice!
Incredible...it's amazing to notice how much he kept the same quality for so many years. If you just heard the voice...could you really tell this was the sixties...as opposed to the 80's?

Now go listen MINGO (where's the DO?) rendition. I feels like an insult to the beautiful Italian lyric repertoire. One has to come back here, and listen to Maestro Pavarotti for operatic therapy! lol
Hello!. This is what I think about the date of recording. I have heard my rare Pavarotti CD and the music of this video for about 15 times now. I think I´m very close. According to my CD this Rigoletto in La Opera di Roma. Direttore: Carlo Maria Giulini. With Renata Scotto, Kostas Paskalis, Bianca Bortoluzzi, Corinna Vozza, Fernando Jacopucci, Giovanna Ciavola.
This is absolutely fabulous. Do you, by chance, have the act II duet with Gilda? That might also help solve the mystery of when and where this performance took place...
I believe so...I'll upload that one when I find time. I've also got the 'Bella figla dell'amore' quartet from the same performance. I'll get to those as soon as possible.
He would pass for Matt LaBlanc's father.

No doubt, young Pavarotti's voice was amazing, but he continued getting better and better every year. Bravissimo, Luciano!

Besides being an excellent live rendition of Questa o Quella, Maestro Pava gives here a Masterclass in perfect "open vowel formation" :)

Mi escusi, ma questo tenore non fu maestro di nessuno. Fu un venduto al denaro.

Hi, the duet and quartets are up. Listen to them and see if you recognize them.
Thanks.

Anothr fantastic post by you. Pavarotti really ruled this role. There are few tenors who could sing Rigoletto as good as him.
