  • Brilliant,, they got it .. whatever it is.. love em

  • Awesome. I remember driving with a new, potential GF over the Rouge River Bridge (Detroit) and she asked if I had any Motown music. I popped in a cassette (1981) with this song and blasted it on my Blaupunkt in my VW Scirocco. It made a helluva impression on her. Turned into a wonderful relationship. This is the original Motown recording lipsynced for the teevee show. A#1

  • Style!

  • According to a report I read, as of June 18, 2011, Smokey is now activively campaigning to get ALL of The Miracles inducted, hopefully in 2012. Let's hope they make it in. They deserve it !!

  • This is MUSIC...Feel that FREEDOM to DANCE!!!

  • Also, this song is Holland-Dozier-Holland composition!

  • This here song was released in July 1963 as Tamla 54083 and also featured on the Singing Machine's "Motown Master Recordings-Original Artist Karaoke-Let's Get It On" with Marvin Gaye On the cover in multiplex and instrumental"

  • Is it me or did this music make blacks and whites ( all people) come together so why did they kill it ? makes you thinks huh?

  • This looks like the Clay Cole show.

  • @Libralin6 It's from HOLLYWOOD A GO-GO filmed in LA 1965

  • The Miracles had always had a long-standing reputation as one of the best-dressed groups in the industry...and they ,indeed, set many fashion trends during this time. Miracle Bobby Rogers , an acknowledged interior designer, also designed many of their onstage outfits during this time.

  • The dance looks simular to "The Jerk" in a way.

  • smoky had a very raspy voice

  • This was million-seller #3 for the MIRACLES.....after "Shop Around" (1961)and "You've Really Got A Hold On Me.(1962) .

  • OK so I was not there at the time but this was a hit from 1963 and Smokey and the boys are dressed in clothes that looks to me like "proto-disco". Was this the first group to switch to a "70's look" with huge collars and tight pants? Did they start the trend that became "the look"?

  • Hey, i'm pretty young, but i really love all this...

so could someone explain what the monkey is?

  • the Monkey was the name of the dance, swinging the arms up and down.

  • It's the dance the blonde girls out front are doing. They kinda look like monkeys when they jerk their arms up and down.

  • The Miracles at their best on this clip from Hollywood A Go Go. Looking back on that time period, the Gizzarri Dancers were the best go-go girls on TV. The hip huggers and short sweaters were a first on television.

  • Another classic video from HOLLYWOOD A GO GO. Great job dancing by the two featured ladies in front of the MIRACLES, Gazzarri's DeAnn and Gwen.

  • Smokey was considered so fine back then. Remember dancing "The Grind" (really, really close slow dancing) to his records. Tried to sneak one of his slow records out to a party but got caught because all the adults knew we would dance The Grind to Smokey. (sigh). That's when music was everywhere.

  • Hey...smoking is doing the jek more than

    the monkey.

  • I do not speak english only this : I LOVE

  • its too bad Claudette isnt performing this with them

  • THIS IS AWESOME!!!!

  • THE MIRACLES deserve to be inducted into THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!!! Should have been one of the FIRST groups to be inducted!!! WHAT'S THE HOLD UP ??

  • @williamg2552 you mean to tell me that smokey and miracles are not in?? will have to check.. is truly ridiculous if not..

  • @micktheMaag SMOKEY was inducted ALONE 23 years ago. The OTHER MIRACLES were not. SMOKEY was given SOLE CREDIT for THE ENTIRE GROUP'S accomplishments. All of the other Motown groups, THE SUPREMES, TEMPTATIONS, 4 TOPS, VANDELLAS, and GLADYS & THE PIPS were inducted INTACT , AS GROUPS into the RRHOF . MIRACLES fans all over the world are very upset with the HALL OF FAME for not inducting BOBBY RODGERS, PETE MOORE, RONNIE WHITE, CLAUDETTE ROBINSON, MARV TARPLIN, and BILLY GRIFFIN.

  • @williamg2552

the whole rock n roll hall of fame thing is nonsense anyway and the antithesis of the whole spirit of what this kind of music is all about.

  • @williamg2552

The hold-up is that Smokey was inducted into the RRHOF as a solo artist, instead of the Miracles being inducted as a group...

  • @GruppeB That should have NEVER happened . Throughout, this group's history, THE MIRACLES have NEVER been just a one -man show...no matter WHAT the media (and the RRHOF) would have you believe. ALL of the groups' members co- wrote and co-produced the group's tunes...NOT JUST SMOKEY. Unlike the other Motown acts, that did not write their songs , Miracles Bobby Rogers, Pete Moore, Ronnie White, and Marv Tarplin (Claudette did not write songs) , were BIG contributors to their body of work.

  • @williamg2552 I think they got it over and done with when Smokey went in 1987

  • @williamg2552 Only Smokey was inducted around 1987 but not The Miracles. I think that's a shame considering that they were just as much a part of the success of Motown. Sadly enough one of them Ronnie White died of cancer in the late 1980's

  • They DID love that processed hair back then! Mashed potatoes and lye..

  • I Love mickey's monkey! the miracles do not play when it comes to dancing especially Ronnie lol Smokey looks so cute here

  • ronnie ans smokey are so cute.lol
