great video of their live performance... except for that beyonce thing. i mean really?! i can see beyonce any old day. i feel like i missed part of a great performance here.
@thedjartillery I can say whatever i want, it's my opinion and more valid than one from a stupid fanatic like you, who can't hear more than you like, so you shut the fuck up!
@MeTaLMoNkEyLeYrOy Their old stuff is a lot more different than their latest album. It's funkier and more low key, and I think it's great, but it's not for everyone. "It's Never Been Like That" is kind of a transition album from their old sound to their new sound so if you want more of Wolfgang, check that out. I recommend "Consolation Prices", "One Time Too Many", and "Long Distance Call". "Too Young" is off one of their old albums, but it's also really great, and it was in Lost in Translation
I fucking hate going to a concert now days......90% of people are fucking recording the band with their little phone or camera. They are not having a good time dancing moving with the music and enjoying themselves. they are more worried about recording the band......
@VanishingAct27 Yea which was like for 15 minutes or so lol Phoenix has their own thing going, just because they use a similar backbeat as early-late 60's bands makes them nothing like The Strokes
One of the things I most remember about this performance is their enthusiasm, particularly the lead singer's. Even in HD, this video does no justice replicating the passion and joy put into every. How fitting that the opening song is about a bunch of girls going absolutely nuts over a celebrity (in this case a Hungarian 19th century pianist). You're so lucky to have been upfront, but even way in the back the energy was felt. Thanks for recording memories. These 3 days resonate in eternity.
@PhantomWarlock I think his song "On to The Next One" might have a lot to say about this. Also watch an interview in which he gives props to indie (more specifically, the band Grizzly Bear) for what it's doing for music.
@falconwings1982 yah thats what really gave me respect for him when I saw him giving props to Grizzly Bear which is like my favorite band ever. I'm glad that some rappers move on to appreciate other music
@theguardia The actual meaning of the word phoenix refers to a mythical bird that rises out of the ashes to be reborn. The mayor of Phoenix, by the way, is very much against this law.
I love keyboard players that carry machine guns on their backs like Gs.

That drummer is Thomas Hedlund, I was quite surprised when I found out. A fellow Swede in a French band? Anyhow, he's an amazing drummer!

Their drummer takes a fairly simple beat and makes it look like a percussion marathon. nonetheless, very entertaining.
sorenwasmerable 1 year ago
@sorenwasmerable it's not always about complexity. its how all the instruments fit together. sometimes its about subtlety.
