show me in the scriptures where jesus tock up an tithe?you can't! because he was from the tribe of judah. show me in the new testiment where jesus tock up an offering during his ministry. people gave to him willingly. he said bless are the poor in spirit for yours is the kingdom of heaven. i know who God was talking to back than, brother! and i know how to rightly divide the word of God. thats what the holy spirit is for. and he shall teach you all things?? is heaven that poor?? wow!! dues?
hey young brother, you need to learn about biblical herneneutics and teaching interpretation of the scriptures. not mixing law and grace because this is taboo. you need to know who the scriptures were talking to , the time it said what it said and is it applicable to us today.
75% black men are in prison. and another black person is about to discover that she or he has H.I.V why don't you talk about these issues! and stop preying on the weak, and vulnerable. robb not the poor because he is poor. you don't know any thing about titheing.
Your opening statement is partially accurate. Hebrews 7:5 tells us the Levites who receive the office of priesthood have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law. So as you indicated the law is still good but the tithe was inherited by the Levites from the Most High. Yes inheritance, see Numbers 18:20, 23-24. This is telling us that this people (Levites) will have no Land inheritance but the tithe will be theirs as it is to this day. Abraham paid tithes to a priest also.
In The Christian Church of the New Testament, there was NO TITHING ASKED BY ANY APOSTLE. However, the giving of gift to “THE BRETHREN IN NEED” was the testing of the sincerity of their love by their diligence. This giving of gift is also many times a testing of how well the overseers minister The Word in The Gospel with their lives.
@chog8 Lev 19:26-32 Speaks of Quite a bit of things not in the NT ex. the using of enchantments, observing times, seeking those with familiar spirits as well as others. But when you read that whole Chapter we see that it is all still good, like not prostituding your daughters. Abraham Paid tithe (Heb 7) and we are trying to be like Faithful Abraham (Romans 4). The Old Testament it shows the Law and it has far more writtings than the New So their is more detail in it to live by.
@chog8 So you don't want to give at least a tenth to the Lord you have a problem with that? Is a man in sin who takes 1/10 of what he has and gives to God? You speak of Priest and Levites, but please remember that these men where Choose by God To do his bidding. So if I go to Church(On the Sabbath) and I choose to Pay a tenth there is no law against that. But to not give well Look at Cain and Able.
This man has no idea what he is talking about. Abraham paid tithes off of spoils of war & did not pay from his own wealth. An offering is burning animal, fruit or vegetables on an alter, it is not money either. Tithes r under the OT law, if u want to teach tithes u have to teach keeping the festivals also, u have to teach keeping Sabbath, all under the law. If u try to keep any part of the law then u have to keep all of it. Read Galations. U r deceived.
jmcclellan might be right about this. The bible does not say that God commanded Abram to tithe. It is very possible that his motivation for tithing was in response to an ancient pagan custom for a victor in battle to give a tenth of his spoils of war to the local priest king. Abram's tithe actually would not have been accepted under the Mosaic law because the items can from pagan soil. Also, Abram only tithed once, and he never tithed from his pre-existing property.
@ThyKingdomCome77 NO, it did not "pop" into Abrahams head, as Suaved pointed out, it was an anctient custom to tithe the spoils of war to kings. It is all throughout history. He also gave the rest to those who fought with him. Also, tithes as under the law were only for Levites, Widows, orphans & strangers & were given during specific times of the year, surrounding the feasts. u haven't even addressed the point about keeping the law & being subject to the whole law. just more Tithe lies.
@jmcclellan54321, "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law" I John 3:4. Yes you must keep the law or else you are sinning. Paul said the Law is Holy, Just and Good (Romans 7:12). If you had looked at the page would see that we teach these things... Sabbath, Holy Days, Deitary Law, etc... Tithes is just one law and not to be stressed above any other laws as the lesson pointed out. @suaved no he's not right, and Jesus will judge Lawlessness.
@ThyKingdomCome77 This is a good point but we should not make tithing something it's not. Leviticus 27:30 - tells what the tithe is, which is the fruit of the tree and the seed of the land. verse 31 lets us know without doubt that it cannot be money because a man can redeem or buy back his tithe. Please review this text carefully because most tend to overlook the passage. Numbers 18:20-32 tells us that the Most High gave this tithe to the levites and when it was received by them it was eaten.
@ThyKingdomCome77 "Time will tell who is deceived." The time is now & u r deceived. Go and study ur bible in truth, stop regurgitating what some wanna b preacher has taught u to believe. The bible is clear on this subject but men like him strip scriptures out of context & then fill in their own interpretation based on fallacious thinking. I don't believe he is willfully lying, yet he is spreading lies by repeating this false doctrine. tithes r under the Old Covenant & there4 r done away with.
@ThyKingdomCome77 We have a better covenant thru Jesus Christ. It is Christ that fulfills the law by baring the curse of the law in His innocence. He was a perfect sacrifice. Thru him we become joint-heirs, read Romans 8. Tithes were for God as king, it was tribute. Israel were just citizens then, Yet, in Christ, we are sons of God, if we are lead by His spirit. Romans 8 also. Read Matthew 17:24-27 and you will see, strangers pay tribute but children do not because they are heirs of the king
@jmcclellan54321, If you understood the new covenant you would know that it's with Israel and based on the same laws. They are supposed to be in your mind now! "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:" Hebrews 8:10.
@ThyKingdomCome77 What u say sounds nice but it is still backwards. Yes, God's law is written in our minds, yet, according 2 that same law, tithes were food, crops, & not money. Also, 2 fulfill that law, u have to pay it to Levites, widows, strangers, yet, this is not the practice by church 2day. There is no Levitical priesthood any longer either. How do u justify teaching a law that u do not keep properly? Read Galations, we r not 2 try 2 keep the law any longer. we cannot 4 we will break it.
@jmcclellan54321, Again you believe false teaching that the law is done away with, but it is written that the Law is Holy, Just and Good. The only law that ceased was the animal sacrifices because they were pointing to Jesus. This is what Paul is mentioning in Galatians. Read Hebrews 10:1-10 it very plain. Yet, we still cannot steal, kill and break God's Holy Sabbath, etc or you are continuing in sin. Read Revelation 22:12-15 about who Jesus is going to reward with what when he returns.
@ThyKingdomCome77 There4 we as children of God do not pay tribute, we are supposed to receive it thru Christ. That is why Christ tells us to seek ye first the kingdom of God & His righteousness. God takes care of us, not because we pay him but because He loves us as His children. Do u force ur children 2 first give u tribute n money b4 u buy them clothes or food? Of course not! Christ made the exact same point, God takes care of us w/out us having 2 give first because we r His children.
@ThyKingdomCome77 To say that God requires us to pay tithes in order to be blessed by him is to say that God is evil just like we are! Jesus made the same point in Matt. 7:11, if we are evil & know to do good for our kids then how much more the Father in Heaven (who is blessed forever, amen!) ?!!! That is why the tithing doctrine is not only a lie but is incredibly dangerous because it implies a negative trait to our perfect God!!! It says that God requires us 2 pay Him before He blesses us!

@jedaiah777 Answer these three questions:
In The Old Testament:
1. Whom was the Tithe given to and why?
2. Find at least three differences between the Priests and the Levites.
In The New Testament:
3. Why was NO TITHING ASKED BY ANY APOSTLE?
