Compass app on ipad

if the ipad really has a compass function (which i know it does) why doesnt apple list it as one of the good features? they dont even mention it!

I cant count how many times I have been surfing the web and wondered, Where is north and what direction am I facing! I mean this solves a most pressing need. It way more than justifies a $500.00 price tag! No flash, but damn a compass woo weee!!!
