haha we do have our own property lol, two big paddocks and one small paddock for our minis... but we only have two thoroughbreds, oliver, and the two miniatures at the moment!
this video bring tears to my eyes - I have no clue I mean its so sad when you first started riding him it looked like he didnt want to walk well he didnt want to he just didnt know how to ): how do you train a horse like this? haha mayeb you could post a video fo his training!!
Hi Effie, you do a wonderful job - but may I ask a very personal question?
I know you as a very selfconfident but also relaxed rider. To me it seemed, as if in the beginning of your ride (as from 0:37), you were rather tense - and only at 0:54 you relaxed with your second "Good Boy!" sounding as a great relief.
Did you expect Oliver to react crazy and challenge you? And were you prepared for a difficult situation - rearing, bucking whatever?
hehe, i was maybe a bit tense because i didn't know if he had ever been ridden under saddle, and i didnt know any of his history, so i took a cautious approach... but as soon as he walked forwards i knew he wasn't going to do anything wrong... so we went out into the bush for a ride and he was amazing!
i can't really afford to keep him for good, which is unfortunate, i wish i could keep every horse i get!!
but i fugure that once i've done some work on him, he can teach someone else a lot more than he could teach me, and i most likely wont ever sell him, just free lease him out so if somethings ever happens whoever has him can give him back... and besides, i want to rescue and rehome as many horses as i possibly can! He was the only one rescued out of a paddock of 24 horses :(
At first i wasn't going to take him because he is a standy, and last time i had a standy i had a bed experience... but something in my gut told me i had to take him home... so he's a very lucky boy! (and he lloovveess hugs and kisses!!)
i have a standie!!!!!!! he is amazing :)
