These cars are NOT in the same class. Race the M3 not the M1 which should be much faster 0-60 and 3x times the handling. Also G37 is a lux version of the Nissan, why did they not use a Nismo version? Car and Driver what the hell? You give mixed reviews and then your data does not back up your conclusions. @davebertoletti People who've been around the nurburgring hundreds of times, like the famed "ring taxi" drivers who show people around in BMW M5s, generally hold the wheel in a relaxed state because they're so used to the track that they know exactly what to expect. If I were these guys in this video I'd probably end up holding the wheel like that because you barely have to move it and you're probably going around the track 10 times or so to get the fastest times.
Never liked the TT. Always reminded me of a Beetle. Impressive numbers, but yeah, paint it white and put #53 on it. It starts around the same price as the M3, so I'd choose that first. Or the RS5
idk i think i would pick the audi because the AWD will come in handy when the snow starts falling since i live in NY. the 1 series m is a slightly better handling car but i disagree with it being more practical. when snows starts falling i don't want to be sliding around like a whipped dog because of RWD. if i could i would get both lol since they are so close in performance.
The thing is that a TTRS with DSG is not only a faster car but easier to drive and more practical and safer to drive in bad weather. Now, that is unless you are going through a race track on your way to work and you plan to do some drifting at the mall parking after shopping, I don't see any other serious advantages to the M1...

In this group it's the BMW 1M coupe all the way. However, for the money I'd pick up a Porsche Cayman (base) instead. No, it's not as quick but it's far better to drive.

Just test drove this car in Mass. What an amazing machine. Great engine, gearbox, handling, acceleration, and fun factor. The RS screams aggressiveness with its swollen intakes and large rear wing. However for an extra 10 grand over my 2010 TTS while sacrificing a harsh ride for more performance, I cannot see the value of upgrading. The TTS offers all of the exciting pleasures as the RS, yet you can use it everyday. Call me crazy, but im sticking with my T(I)TS.
If you drive with a safety helmet every morning...then get the 1 m series...if not,dont pretend to be one...if you can afford it...get the audi tt rs....it makes you look twice better...its good enough even to chase an m3....
The Infiniti IPL is getting an AMG based engine from Mercedes Benz which will filter down into many IPL cars by 2013. So I wont pass judgment till later down the road. IPL is so premature to judge right now, but the G37 sure is sexy. For right now the IPL G Coupe is not intended to hunt M3s. It was never meant to. The IPL G37 coupe simply provides an incremental step up in performance and style beyond products that are already badged "Sport." Its more comparable to the likes of the BMW 335is.

ipl is not supercharged, so I preffer to put 16K in turbos, or supercharger, intercooler, and I'll have a 500+hp, amateurs like you ppl always thinks too small, I will not teach you about power curve x air flow(by turbos)

1. It's the 1M....the M1 is the supercar from the past.
2. They compared the G37s because of it's price point compared to the 1M and the TTRS. All 3 cars are in a similar price bracket.

@davebertoletti People who've been around the nurburgring hundreds of times, like the famed "ring taxi" drivers who show people around in BMW M5s, generally hold the wheel in a relaxed state because they're so used to the track that they know exactly what to expect. If I were these guys in this video I'd probably end up holding the wheel like that because you barely have to move it and you're probably going around the track 10 times or so to get the fastest times.

I don't know why people would choose to buy cars which are far less fun to drive such as an Audi TT-S / TT-RS over fun to drive cars such as the BMW 1M / M3; Porsche Boxster / Cayman, etc. I don't care how great the "numbers" are if the car isn't fun / rewarding to drive. Just test drove this car in Mass. What an amazing machine. Great engine, gearbox, handling, acceleration, and fun factor. The RS screams aggressiveness with its swollen intakes and large rear wing. However for an extra 10 grand over my 2010 TTS while sacrificing a harsh ride for more performance, I cannot see the value of upgrading. The TTS offers all of the exciting pleasures as the RS, yet you can use it everyday. Call me crazy, but im sticking with my T(I)TS.

The Infiniti IPL is getting an AMG based engine from Mercedes Benz which will filter down into many IPL cars by 2013. So I wont pass judgment till later down the road. IPL is so premature to judge right now, but the G37 sure is sexy. For right now the IPL G Coupe is not intended to hunt M3s. It was never meant to. The IPL G37 coupe simply provides an incremental step up in performance and style beyond products that are already badged "Sport." Its more comparable to the likes of the BMW 335is.
