o.0 Wow. Just...yeah. This one takes you away....spins you around Alpha Centauri, makes a pit stop around Andromeda, then drops you off somewhere near Dubuque. 8 ]
you don't have to like those bands in order to realize what my point was "shatso"
look at the video for "Megalomaiac" "Make Damn Sure" and "What I've Done" they use images such as wild life and animals and what not cut right into the song
it might not even make sense to what the song is saying, but look at this live concert too I was pointing out the similarities and that these newer bands pulled that creativity from bands such as Grateful dead
Woah I can see how Sonic Youth cited them as inspiration for the epic, psychedelic jamming. Except SY's approach is punkier. Echoes in today's post-rock bands like Mogwai and Tortoise too.
Doesn't Jerry look just wonderful playin' his old Strat? I've got this dowloaded from the archives - the tone is just so mellow. Loads of energy and the winsome spiritual synergy between Jerry and the old Fender.
i think if you look at an incubus video or even newwer stuff like linkin park or taking back sunday you'd see the use of images in their videos as a tribute to a performance like this.
you can't argue that they had a positiv impact on rock n roll
does anybody know where u can get this concert on dvd, or on a torrent? I'd be glad to pay for it I just cant find it, its called sunshine daydream right?
This is quite a good rendition of said number - I quite like the visuals, it is always good to see the Grateful Dead with Jerry Garcia, there is something really quite inspiring about his guitar playing - makes me want to take up the guitar again.
What is your problem? Let the heads be and don't moan about the music, because even if you think this is bad, it's nowhere near as bad as some music out today. Just enjoy it for what it is, a classic performance of a seminal song.
If ones words are no better than silence... one should remain silent...
You might not like the music... but, they got a LOT FARTHER in life than I'm guessing you will ever get (at least with that attitude)... so, some respect, please!
.So, what's the best you've heard? Give us some idea by what measure you are making this statement; by the way, why bother coming to this channel and taking the trouble to make such statements?
it pisses me off when i didnt get a chance to see the dead all i have is youtube and the movies and i see people still booing, i mean sure they take days to tune but musical greatness takes time....
I remember when I was younger, like around 14 or so, I had heard my brother mention the Dead, and the name made me think they were some metal band, lol. The summer after my high school freshman year, a friend and I were smoking pot, he put on "Blues For Allah", and it was love at first...hear, I've been a dead head ever since.

Nice ! The Dead are/were awesome. Jerry's musical career was very diverse. He's got some great solo stuff, jazz, bluegrass, etc.

billy kreutzman is such an underrsated drummer he's the man and he's tearing it up in this one

What an awesome glimpse into a tremendous, transitional period in the band's history.
One drummer, Pigpen gone, and pre-Keith and Donna. It's the most scaled-down performance from the Dead I've EVER heard.
Thanks for posting this!
thaibites 3 years ago 2
this isnt pre keith and donna if the date on the video is correct, this was after their successful european tour which included keith and donna.
