A student of the Course can be effected by negative stimuli if he stops doing the lessons or stops meditating. It's a life long commitment. I got to lesson 180 and my life was beautiful but, I stopped doing the lessons and I came down from that high. Never as low as before I started but I surely came down and struggle with negativity quite a bit. Why don't I do the lessons now? I don't know.
What brought me to ACIM was Marianne Williamson's book. I still love ACIM, I just don't meditate now.

It's too bad I've just found out this comment, but time is just an illusion, so that's why I want to suggest you to: 1) Don't feel guilty 2) Forgive yourself for stopping doing the lessons 3) Think you didn't quit, but just having a break 4) Taking some vacation/holiday/spare time it's ok 5) Do 1 & 2 as often as you can
@kraka7oa Thank you. That's some good advice. I did find that by just praying and mumbling to Jesus I quickly rekindled my relationship with him. I believe the key was humbleness and sincerity and persistence. I had just lost everything in the stock market and moved to the slums and got a part time minimum wage job after being rich and ya, no hour went by that I wasn't talking to Jesus and Jesus immediately made his presence well known. Those were a miraculous 3 years! ...and no meditating! lol

So sorry to know you were not doing Ok back then, but you're gifted and talented, so it's just a matter of time for you to recover yourself. Trust Christ and yourself, but don't commit the mistake everybody does by thinking that only by praying to God, everything will turn out to be perfect! That's a myth. Forgiving yourself, your beloved ones, and the ones you don't like much, so to speak! Will give you the peace and love you need.
@kraka7oa, I miss my money but the 4 years in the desert were incredible. I was so scared, but I established a connection with Jesus. We shared in Miracles everyday. I learned what living really is. Being rich offers worldly security which IS a prison, and so I was not alive. Losing almost everything took away my security, but man was I alive, for I found I could survive anything and do amazing things all while smiling. In myself I found Power, Fearlessness, Durability, Heroism. I was Alive!
Just like the New Testament is a higher teaching than the old testament.. ACIM is higher than the New Testament... but they all complement each other.. the higher however always corrects the lower. thanks for being open to new light on the planet. ACIM is true Christianity, which is not a religion but a relationship;
