When I was a kid there was no "trick or treating" in the U.K. but now it is very common. We have always had Halloween for thousands of years in Europe but when I was a kid we believed that it was when spirits returned and they would also put some horror movies on TV, but nothing like the american holiday. Both her and the victim's family would have greatly benefitted from her coming forward sooner. But being brave is hard, we're mere humans who get frightened, and that's OK. But yes, the sooner it would have come forward, the better it would have been. If there were a way to encourage that it would be great.

It explained her reason for staying silent all of these years. Let's just be happy that the killer is finally behind bars. It might have taken years for the truth to emerge, but at least it finally came out. Not all families get that closure.

he was worried about how he was gonna get to heaven...maybe he felt awful about what he had done and decided the best way to try and compensate was to save lives as a career (becoming a fireman) to try and build his karma back up for the evil he had done. but sorry, it doesn't work like that. we all have to pay for our crimes the same way. rescuing people out of fires is great, but it does not make up for the fact he killed someone and didn't face the music for it.
