Why didn't BWM (aka BW seasons 2-3 in the U.S.) do so great in Japan? The stories were great!

I was ACTUALLY AT Japan AT the time and I can barely get hold of the toys because they were so popular they were always sold out.

Well, I read on Benson Yee's site, back in the day, that stated their dub of our BW season 1, and their BW 2nd show did well, but Beast Wars Neo and Metals had a "lackluster" reception, thus Japan's next TF anime series being their own called Car Robots, which was later brought over here as Robots In Disguise.
