@kosherrealizations I see no reason why YouTube comments should be divorced from the political message in the videos. Indeed, one of my motivations in sticking the subtitles on DAM's video was precisely to help communicate a political message, and generate discussion around the subject.
Besides, IMHO some of the best music is music that has something to say, and often that means politics.

You may argue if it's enough or not, you may argue about the portionallity of it's use of force (but compare it to the Russians in Grozny, for example), but you can't argue that Israel has made a huge sacrifices for peace, and that Hamas prefers shelling it and holding a captive than even considering peace.

The international consensus is for a contiguous Palestinian state (with free movement to Gaza) whose extent is 100% of the land seized in 1967, with minor, mutually-agreed border adjustments.

Not that my home is perfect, but we had a civil war over such exclusion (which took the form of slavery), and some 50 years ago we had a quite wrenching civil rights movement. In terms of inclusiveness, Israel is far from normal standards.

@kosherrealizations I see no reason why YouTube comments should be divorced from the political message in the videos. Indeed, one of my motivations in sticking the subtitles on DAM's video was precisely to help communicate a political message, and generate discussion around the subject.
Besides, IMHO some of the best music is music that has something to say, and often that means politics.

Being against Israeli atrocities and racism is nothing like "kicking the Jews out of Israel." Civilized people learn to live in a diverse environment. I hope Israel becomes civilized some day.

You may argue if it's enough or not, you may argue about the portionallity of it's use of force (but compare it to the Russians in Grozny, for example), but you can't argue that Israel has made a huge sacrifices for peace, and that Hamas prefers shelling it and holding a captive than even considering peace.

The international consensus is for a contiguous Palestinian state (with free movement to Gaza) whose extent is 100% of the land seized in 1967, with minor, mutually-agreed border adjustments.
Non-viable bantustans are not a huge sacrifice (or a hugggeee one, either). They are nothing more than an institutionalized illegal occupation.

I think the words are pretty clear, "our neighborhood is embarrassed, not dressed in silk, IF fear still lives in our hearts." The only veil reference is a metaphor to a bridal veil, like the ones brides also wear in the west -- the neighborhood is like a bride without a veil, that is, a bride without a beautiful part of her wedding clothes, waiting and longing, while (Israeli) ethnic cleansing knocks at the door.

If you define Zionism as a modern nation-state controlled exclusively by Jews, then by definition you reject modern democracy, at least insofar as it concerns Israel. If you define Zionism as meaning there is a safe place for Jews to live, then you'd be happy with an inclusive, bi-national Israel where Jews aren't the majority and don't hold a veto.

@danilche I wish what you say were true, but sadly, contemporary Zionism is not just the Jew's desire for a homeland. It is the desire for a homeland THAT EXCLUDES "the other." That makes a world of difference, and puts you on a very sad parallel indeed.
Not that my home is perfect, but we had a civil war over such exclusion (which took the form of slavery), and some 50 years ago we had a quite wrenching civil rights movement. In terms of inclusiveness, Israel is far from normal standards.

@danilche Me, I was born in L.A., and this is my homeland. Just off downtown in a historical area, there's a plaque that lists the leaders of Los Angeles, including the Spanish and Mexican Alcaldes who ruled before we became part of the US. White people like me will be in the minority in my city during my lifetime, and that's just fine by me, and pretty much everybody else. We're not perfect in the US, but we have gotten over much of our racist past.
