moos14: u cant punch with ur other hand with that wrist lock on. try punching someone with ur left hand in a wrist lock. when u try to punch and he exerts more pressure on ur left wrist, your body naturally tenses up.
..so what if he punches with that other arm its not controlled..if hes just trained a bit in sth like boxing or so,he could easily get out of that one :/
In some schools they are purely as self defense techniques. We don't use them in sparring at the school I train at but we do get to do them full speed with partners. And I have personally had to use them in a self defense situation, and they work work very well.
