  • WOW!

  • we have some netvistas and thinkcenters at my school their awesome as hell

  • @tsm32383 the netvistas must get replaced all the time...and the thinkcentres are SLOW!!!!!!!!!!trust me i used both kinds of computer,

  • @Robloxian182 I have a ThinkCentre that runs Mac OS Leopard. Runs fast as shit for it's specs.. I hate when people call a computer slow.. It's called "BLOAT"..

  • @hakemon yeah yeah yeah whatever you say i meant only SOME DESKTOP computers. The laptops are great though, such as the thinkpad t30.

  • @Robloxian182 Lol you must be a kid. All computers are fast when they run the OS of their time, and run the programs of their time, even many of the budget machines, like Netbooks. It's people that like to use Limewire and all those crap sites that put bloatware on your computer. It's your fault, not the computers.

  • @hakemon the thinkpad t30 i have has windows 7.....with a pentium 4M and 256mb and a 40gb HDD.......and yes im a kid but i know more about computers than YOU.

  • @Robloxian182 Lol I'd shut up if I were you right now, seriously, I'm a technician who has gone through college, got my certifications, and worked for big companies like HP, IBM, Dell.. With your attitude problem which needs adjusting, you'll never get far.

Btw, Windows 7 on 256MB is very terrible. If you knew much you wouldn't have even bothered. I have a Mac Pro with 8x CPU cores and 32GB RAM. A Compaq CQ61 laptop with dual core AMD, and 4GB RAM, and Linux.. So what about it?

  • @Robloxian182 Btw, when you said Windows 7 and 256MB, you just set yourself up. You just showed how much you DON'T know.

With that little RAM, your taxing your small hard drive, forcing it to page a lot, and wearing it out. I bet it's a Hitachi Deathstar too..

  • @hakemon i borrowed some ddr2 RAM for about a day from a friend then installed 7 blah blah blah then returned the ram to him and put the 256mb back.may i remind you it has a 32mb GPU? (ati radeon mobility 7500

  • @Robloxian182 Wow, your just an idiot. The IBM Thinkpad T30 does NOT use DDR2, it uses regular DDR memory. I was just working on 14 of these 2 days ago.

VRAM and System RAM have nothing to do with each other in this case. So seriously, go to tech school and get real experience before you take on a technician and systems engineer.

  • @hakemon well did THOSE have a freakin' trackpad? its kinda like gamecubes, i may have a DOL-001 model while you may be working on a DOL-000.

  • @Robloxian182 Lol it has a track pad and the joystick nub. All T30's use DDR, not DDR2.. You failed. They won't even physically fit..

Just quit while your behind. You opened your mouth, then got called out immediately.

  • also, what this doesnt say is that it would support something like 100PB of storage on a single 1 square inch chip...yes 100PB (100,000 GB)

  • 100 thousand times faster

    that made me lol

  • WHAT ??:S

  • I want one - fitted in my head

    kaffe x

  • genius !

  • 10 years till we start to see it in our computers?

    aw come on!

  • wow!

  • Damn I thought this was going to be a special horse race track that can use sensors to better report the races. I was about to say, that was a waste of money too.

  • two years?

    hope coming now!!!

  • dang...

  • this is the technology that will be readily available to our military soldiers to calculate things through thier helmets =op get ready for the new holocaust everyone. "the terrorists" will drop an atom bomb this time on the u.s. they couldnt possibly but with our administrations efforts this will come to pass. happy hunting

    STFU!

  • Yup, all because they can calculate things through their helmets. Seriously you're an idiot, and make no connections between your statements.

  • this sounds very interesting. but the only problem is that Microsoft & Apple will steal this technology as they have done all along. as illustrated in pirates of silicon valley.

  • Welcome to the big kid world, time to stop crying and switch to big boy pants.

  • well said =/ even though I love Microsoft and hate Apple with all their guts. . . You know it will happen. . . Even so, you know the bright side of it is that Microsoft will improvise on it and benefit it some how. Google has been in this area of improving newly made technologies as well

  • FYI

    this is hardware.

Microsoft and Apple DONT MAKE HARDWARE.

They make software. You can "steal" software ideas, because a concept cannot be copyrighted, and there are multiple ways to program a computer to do things.

Hardware is copyrighted, traditionally they license the copyright to companies to produce the product, if they don't then competitors will copyright a similar technology and license it.

IE NVIDIA and ATI are perfect examples of how tech hardware production works.

  • apple makes hardware.

  • gay hardware apple sucks

  • Why did IBM make stuff for the Nazis' are they a German company?

  • move on dude, nobody who had anything to do with IBM today worked for them back then. Hardly any of them were even alive.

  • Oil price shall be higher UNIMAGINABLY after retreat from Iraq !!!!

Pulling back from Iraq is not possible military strategically !!!!

  • IBM=electronic body music

i don't see any electronica music videos

    WHAT IS GOING ON!??!!??

  • lol hes got a point

  • sounds interesting, thanks for the video...

  • IBM computers crap? Yuu're an idiot. You probably worked on some old IBM PC (which are well built machines), but trust IBM mainframe computers belong to the best in the world.

    fool...

  • @warpq1 ibm's old aptivas were crap. but their ps1 and ps2 systems were awesome for their day (486 386 days) and their thinkpads during the aptiva days were very reliable and sturdy systems. their servers have always been awesome and today is no exception. there is a reason it was called an ibm compatible (most of this isnt directed at you, your comment just prompted me)

  • @warpq1 it says on the bbc news website that they have now released a prototype of this memory chip!!!! bbc . co . uk / news / technology-16047098

  • then whats the best computer? dell? hp? ibm is a modestly exceptional company that doesn't give a shit about how many people own their computers and how much money they make by selling computers. they are doing greater things that you can conceive with your jellyfish brain.

  • i'm pretty sure they care quite a lot about how much they make.

  • idiot

  • Can anyone tell me if this will consume less energy than a flash drive? By replacing the hard drive in my old iPod (and an updated battery) with a larger capacity Flash drive, I get more run time due to not wasting energy on the oving parts.

The claim is also that this is cheaper to impliment, so this looks like a pretty hot technology.

But again, what about energy consumption, and as a follow up, heat generation?

  • maybe if you are an expert at modding

  • the price on this will be crazy at its launch

  • not necessarily. One of the advantages is that it's easier to produce.

If several comanies are able to launch products with this around the same time the competition will keep the price down. If only one company can do it, they might keep it keep and sell it cheap to kill off the competition before they even have a chance to catch up.

  • woo hoo my stocks are going up. :-)

  • sounds like an updated version of bubble memory

  • =] my dad works for IBM

  • How do they keep all of those atoms cool.

  • Look at all the unintelligent replies.

At least someone smart in the world is making the computers you use. You certainly won't be making anything useful.

  • Haha, I thought SSD was going to be standard in a couple years. I hope this takes over instead.

  • awesome stuff

  • u got marked az spam

  • 16 bits in one transistor? Wow.

  • This looks better than the time I tried to use my hair and leg skin as a digital storage device!

  • I'm surprised. I thought having a SSD would mean that it would last longer. It sounds like an interesting concept.

  • If this is applied to things like videogames, than load times will be almost non-existent.

  • YES! I WAS SO SICK OF WAITING 1.5 SECONDS TO SAVE STUFF TO MY FLASH DRlVE.

  • it depends on what you are saving, i have copied several gigs of data and it takes like 10 mins.

  • time saving is not exactly the point of this invention, but i'm happy you found something usefull for yourself.

  • i'm just happy they're still keeping you inside.

  • YES! I WAS SO SICK OF WAITING 1.5 SECONDS TO SAVE STUFF TO MY FLASH DRlVE.

  • dumbed-down as it was, i couldn't understand the jargon. still, this sounds pretty cool.

  • nice 80's video clips

  • can't wait until it comes out!!!!!!

  • nice ibm. sprinkle some "fairy dust" on it too.

  • crazy

  • WONDERFUL!
