Seems like some do not get the logic of the video.
1) Cows naturally produce methane.
2) We eat meat (i.e. cows) => create demand.
3) We breed them when there's a demand.
The more meat we eat => more demand we have => more cows we breed => more methane will produce from these cows. Likewise, reduce meat consumption (i.e. cows) will reduce total amt of methane from cows.
Lastly, they merely stated the consequence & not impose a 100% meat-free diet so meat-eaters should refrain from undue anger.

This has nothing to do with the environment, its been set up by governments to scam farmers out of a few more dollars and create more pointless jobs, they even say that native trees dont secrete CO2 (so they dont have to pay for them) they only pay for timber trees because they can be taxed at harvested. They searched for every possible source of greenhouse gasses (GHG) from dairy, and left out many sources for veggies and grain, like big diesel trucks to deliver meat AND veggies. The huge diesel machines used to fertilize plow etc.

hard to believe but true ... methane CH4 from animals, is much more powerful then CO2.
But meat eating also produces vasts amounts of CO2 to make hamburgers etc.
Plus all the animal wastes that pollute land and water.
Its just a no win situation basically .... government give the farmers money and they need to find different work or change to organic vegetable farming ..

I'm eating beef about once a week and chicken 3-2 times. I wish I could be a vegetarian but I'm too "pickie" when it comes to food so there aren't that many food types that I could eat and they'd still be good for me... ._.

but that doesnt solve the problem. eating beef doesnt reverse the amount of greenhouse gases that cow produced in its lifetime. and then because people eat the meat, the demand grows, and more cattle are bred, fart, eaten, demand grows, more bred, fart, eaten, demand grows etc. now multiply that by all the people in the world.

The video is misleading. Would we feed cows what they naturally ate (grass), they wouldn't fart that much. STOP feeding them all that corn and grain. Just buying and eating grass-fed meat would help a LOT.

Ignoring the fact that nature designed the cow to eat grass, and so it cannot be bad for them to produce methane gas (yaay I rhymed), if we assume this to be correct, would one not wish to eat as much meat as possible, in order to lower the cow population, and therefore the production of methane gas?? Otherwise there would be a population explosion.. lol

@FarmerBob01057 The most important thing you're leaving out here is ECONOMICS. If people ate more meat, ultimately producers see a higher demand and strive to meet this demand by providing more meat. Ultimately, to eat as much meat as possible in order to lower the cow population is nigh impossible.

@mana2432 It turns out that the study that came to that conclusion was heavily slanted, and wrong.
They searched for every possible source of greenhouse gasses (GHG) from dairy, and left out many sources for veggies and grain, like big diesel trucks to deliver meat AND veggies. The huge diesel machines used to fertilize plow etc.
The "study" was made by people who had an agenda, so its basically a lie.

Humans are not supposed to eat Cows or pigs, we evolved to suit a more hunter-gatherer lifestyle which suits a diet of fish and vegetables and nuts, fruits ect. we only began to eat meat regularly in the past 1000 years, when humans began to farm on a large scale. farming as we know it today was invented only 200 years ago, farming practises which are common in India and middle eastern countries are 1000 years old, and farming methods in africa are at least 10,000 years old.

Seriously, cows don't gas as much if they are fed GRASS, which is what they are designed to eat, not grain. Besides beef, milk, and butter are much healthier if the cow eats grass. It tastes WAY better too.
