@matt1284508 - this is Barney Kessell 's version. I learned this from a transcription in Guitar player magazine. I'm 58, I've listened to and played more soul music than you can imagine. Jazz is not my forte chop-wise. I was just glad to get through the changes. If you find my playing to be lacking, that's fine. But as far as the choice of notes and chord voicings.....those are Barney Kessels's. Pretty sure that Barney Kessel didn't play mindless drivel.
Great playing, and the guitar is top-notch too. Don't let anyone convince you to change anything on it unless it's necessary, like replacing worn frets. In particular, keep that trapeze tailpiece. My '67 has it too, and I am convinced that it lends a nice ring to the tone of that guitar, and would be different with a stop tail.
if you have time to post the chords one day, that would be great :)

Can i ask what settings your amp and guitar is on please, ive tried for ages to get a tone like this! Thanks.
jjbennett123 4 years ago
The amp is a fender hot rod Texas red w/ a vintage 30' speaker. knock off the treble a bit on the amp. Use the neck pick-up and
kick back the tone knob.. Most of tone is coming from the 335!
