  • What is the song called?

  • My OS preferences:

    Mac OS X Tiger

    OS X Lion

    Mac OS 9

    Windows XP

The OS i am currently using:

Mac OS X Snow Leopard (Intel Core Duo)

Mac OS X Leopard (PowerPC G4)

  • This is the only thing that Windows doesn't have... Intro videos! I wish Apple would've made one for Lion...

  • so witch is better tiger or snow leopard

  • Epic..just epic.

  • There's no Czech, "Vítejte".

  • eu gostei!

  • @DSfreak800 Its 'Bytecry' by Weevil

  • I've noticed when Tiger boots on an eMac G4 the programs will run full speed instantly while on an iMac polycarbonate Intel Core 2 Duo with Leopard they take a little longer to run full speed. Both of these are with Macs at my school..

  • @TommyBNSF

Tiger in many respects is faster than 10.5 Leopard. 10.6 Snow Leopard Brought Back the lost speed on Intel Macs.

But consider that maybe the apps you open are PPC native vs the iMac which needs Rosetta in order to make programs compatible on Intel Based Macs. End result is that the apps will run on an Intel Mac but more sluggishly regardless how much faster the Intel CPU is. If it's a native PPC program it may run faster on an 867Mhz G4 than a 3.06Ghz Core 2 Duo.

  • @pokeeto2 I think what you said about rosseta is true because FCP 1 on and Intel Core 2 Duo iMac runs really sluggishly

  • ?? Thats what comes in the Actual Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger Intro.

Look below in the comments. I recall someone posting who it is.

  • where would one find these files (video and Audio) in os 10.4?

  • @julianbell90

I posted a video so people can have a visual. I was running snow leopard 10.6 but it's the same procedure from 10.4 and up.

  • wait, wait, wait. It seems as if you just edited the video for that extende part, maybe you didn't but hmmmmmmm 0.o

  • @julianbell90

I did edit. Idea was to get a few extra seconds of the music. There is a Sound file & a video file. The sound file is a bit longer than the video. I remember in Tiger after the intro video ended, the music would continue playing & slowly fade away while you registered your Mac. I used iMovie HD from iLife 06 to combine and edit the files.

  • came on my powermac g5 makes me weep tears :P

  • Cool

  • Whenever I see this intro movie, I feel so nostalgic

  • You know I watched this video a lot and i am now just getting the spotlight thing considering spotlight was introduced on Tiger....

  • Didn't seem like it.

Never paid any mind to it nor did I use it much. But it was my favorite OS in terms of stability and speed. Screen Sharing, Quicklook, File Sharing, Stacks, and Spaces sold me off to Leopard. Snow Leopard's almost up to par with it.

  • And did you know the platform the "welcomes" were on was the Default tiger background, plus the intro is so fast beause spotlight was made to be like that =D

  • i kept on reinstalling mac os x tiger just to watch this video

  • @kwibjo123456789

I sure hope you know how to access the files by now.

  • Re: pokeeto2

    Yeah i do :P

  • do you know how i can acess the file on my eMac running Panther?

  • @Pjor1cp

I think the files are hidden elsewhere in panther. When I use the steps for Leopard or Tiger, All I found was the X Logo of the end of the intro video. I I think the sound file is there too, But couldn't find the Video file.

My Mac Mini originally came with Panther and I tried it with no luck. I had to look elsewhere online to post a Panther Video.

  • I am using Leopard but I missed the intro so I am trying to watch it without reinstalling.

  • i like tiger but i still like lepord better

  • @TheAverythomas01 same here

  • Yeah, I liked Tiger for it's speed & stability.

Leopard is stable too but it ran a bit slower for my iMac and especially on my Mac Mini G4 and iBook G4.

At least Snow Leopard Pretty much brought back the Speed of Tiger on my iMac.

  • Mac OS X Tiger and Windows XP is the best OS..

  • omg i feel the same way

  • Comment removed

  • @mostwanted625 your are so right i am a mac and pc user but windows 7 i know its gr8 but it wont let me use media player it says is unistalled

  • @mostwanted625 Linux Sucks :D

  • @Farie977 I Agree brother !! I Agree !!!

  • Tiger is still the best OS ever...leopard was so bloated and snow leopard is just a refined version of that and doesn't work on older machines...ever since Avadis Tevanian left, it feels like OS X just isn't as great as it use to be... hopefully after using SL for a while longer it might bring back the excitement OS 10.4 did...

  • Tiger was the Speediest on both platforms. But Screen sharing, file-sharing, and the inclusion of bootcamp from leopard is a must for me. It would be hard for me to work back into Tiger again.

Even though it's a bummer that SL isn't compatible with PPC, Much speed and space was unlocked Core 2 Duo iMac. And it did bring back the speed Tiger had on it. Plus the screen sharing and file sharing features do work together with my Old Mac Mini G4 and iBook G4 that have 10.5 Leopard..

  • In my opinion, much of why leopard might have seemed bloated was because of all the new flashy graphics: the new 512p icons, cover flow in finder, the 3d dock (which I personally find hideous, I loved tiger's to death) etc etc... in my experience, leopard actually ran *faster* than tiger on the machines I installed it on, even ones with weaker configurations, and this finding is generally consistent with the people I've discussed it with. Was your experience any different?

  • Yes even with a clean install I felt it was not as snappy as tiger. For some reason having a spotlight window open after a search would slow the system down unlike tiger...it was also using more system resources than tiger I would assume for the reasons you stated more flashy graphics, still I am quite happy with SL and feel it is very snappy even booting it.

  • Wow, Tiger intro in HD is nice :P

  • what's the song called?

  • It's Bytecry by Weevil

Just checked and it's on iTunes. I can give you the sound file from the intro, only thing is it's much shorter and no singing.

  • I made my intro basicly on that intro xD If you wanna watch it, please add me as friend, then i would show i to you.

  • I did edit this video in ways that nobody else has it posted.

I can give you the actual video and sound file that came directly from the operating system and not downloaded from the net. It's much higher quality that way.

  • Yeah, I own that file, and I tried to make that "X" something else :D

  • i love mac's intro videos...even in safari..love it

  • wow High-definition!

  • Can i get this video off my mac even if i have leopard?

  • Nope. Whatever video you have is of the current OS you run.

I have a Mac Mini running leopard. For the hell of it, I will wipe it out and load up Panther which is what it originally came in.

I think I have the Tiger Intro files saved into my EXT Drive. Maybe when I have time later, I'll send you the Song & Video file since it's all separate.

  • after startin a Mac for the first time, is it possible to see the video again?

  • yea.

go to the leopard startup video I have. You'll see instructions in one of the comments.

I once took the video and song file once in tiger and I believe I used the same procedure with leopard.

  • yes it is.

    Browse to:

/System/Library/CoreServices/Setup Assistant/Contents/Resources/TransitionSection.bundle and they are in there. Sound and video

  • oops, I mean /System/Library/CoreServices/Setup Assistant.app/Contents/Resources/TransitionSection.bundle

  • its bytecry by weevil

  • HD is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO clear!

  • What song is this?

  • It's just a tune made up by Apple for the Intro

  • Hi there.

It's called Bytecry and is by a group called Weevil, but apple have made a sort of remixed version for this intro, just like they have with Leopard. It's available on iTunes if you want to get it!

  • oh, k. Thanks

  • no probs m8

  • Good Quality

  • I cant tell the difference.

  • ??? Got Me???

After the First X, I added the second half of the Video again and the Logo at the end so everyone can hear a bit more music. The Apple logo is actually the LCD lit logo on the back of my iBook G4 Screen.

Originally after the X, Thats the part where you register the Mac. & while doing that, the music plays along. The song is over 1:30 long.

  • Woah, Who made the music?
