  • Hi. the Sourge has bolts on it side ? and the ST300 is factory-closed ? Why this difference ?

  • @MrRamonrodo: The difference is that the Surge has one hand opening tools on it and the ST 300 does not. You have to open the ST 300 to access any of the tools on it. The Surge, like the Charge and Wave have four tools that can be opened with one hand without opening the tool. That is why you see four screws on the Surge and two on the ST 300

  • @1jump2many Thanks for the fast response. What i really want to know is if you can dessasemble the sourge, but not the st300 (due to the different kind of screws) ? If this Is this for maintennance (on the sourge) ?? How do you do the maintanance on the st300 ?

  • Can't wait to see you review on the Rebar, I wished they could release it a little earlier!! Thanks for the great review mate, take care!!

  • @2dividedby3equals666: I'm anxious to see a Rebar first hand too. It's the most interesting upcoming Leatherman MT imo.

  • i like your vids. so i subbed. i love gear!!

  • Great review! I have been using an old worn out junk Winchester multi tool for a few months last week I had enough. As a welder I use my multi tool a LOT I had our tool vendor bring me a few multi tools. I chose the Super Tool 300 in black. Not only a great looking tool but very high quality, and excellent versatility! I am thrilled with my new multi!

  • i had a super tool 200 and 3 days ago i snapped the tip of the pliers off so im sending it in to get it replaced/fixed

  • if you had to pick one, which one would it be out of these 3?

To me the Surge looks more modern, better design...

  • @TibetArchive: The ST300 is actually a newer tool than the Surge. Leatherman announced they are going to release a new tool in the Spring called the Rebar that looks similar to the ST300 but will be similar in size to the Wave. For me though, I like the one-hand opening ability that the Surge gives. If wire cutting was more important to me I would go with the ST300.

  • @TibetArchive In my opinion, the wave is the best tool of Leatherman. Core and Supertool 300 are too heavy to carry

  • *it

  • I have leatherman fuse

and take everywere with me I love it

  • You didn't even mention what tools it has... Just compared the size to other MTs for 10 min. Not very impressive.

  • I had the Core and the clips that lock the blades into place both got damaged and fell out, I sent it in to Leatherman warranty and 4 days later I had The SuperTool 300 at my door. You cannot find another company that stands behind there product like Leatherman, well worth the money, built to last and if they dont (within 25 years) theyll repair or replace it!

  • @KeepinYouUp07 Exact same thing happened to me. Go Leatherman!

  • Nice man i just got the sp 300 for my birthday 5 days ago great kinfe havnt used much but i tested it the blade is sharp and im going to really test im going camping with some friends of mine at the beach.

  • Excellent comparison and review of the ST 300. I feel that I have a good knowledge of the St 3000 after watching your video!

  • @DrSpeculum: Thanks, I'm no expert but have many many MT's. I do a video to give people a visual representation of what the product is like. I do a lot of purchasing online and like to look on YouTube for videos on products before I buy something. Another great place for MT information is multitool(dot)org.

  • can u put the pocket clip from the wave/charge/surge series on the supertool 300

  • hi man! i have my Leatherman super tool 200 for now 8 years and is best thing i own since GBA:) i superb for every thing. Fix all! nice Vid:)

  • Great video. I've never seen a detailed description of the ST 300 before and now I see it's kind of like an improved PST on steroids.

  • @CanItAlready: Yeah, no Zytel on the ST300. It's like the original Super Tool and Super Tool 200 in that regard. The PST is classified as a full size MT by Leatherman but they produced MT's like the ST, ST200, ST300, Surge and Core that are also classified as full size but are larger. Almost as if they should be classified as extra large.

  • real nice and by the they discontinued the core

  • @trukanator2: Thanks, yeah I was aware of the Core situation. I made this video about a year and a half ago.

  • Great video! Very helpful thank you!

  • Thanks for the review on both. I broke my CORE and sent it in to Leatherman. They sent me the ST 300 as a free replacement and I was curious if there were any differences... your video answers all questions. Thanks again.

  • You did a very good review, thanks for taking th e time to do it.

  • Excellent review made me buy a supertool 300!

  • Great video. Very informative and well presented. I was trying to decide what new tool to get, and after watching this video, I made up my mind. I like the 300. I may not need the wire-cutters, but better to have them and not need them than...

I look forward to your other videos.

  • As of today the ST300 can be had for 53 dollars with free shipping on Amazon, and Leatherman are officially calling the Core retired.

    Great video BTW!

  • Good to see the Surge, Core and ST 300 compared as that's why I'm watching this. You should put 'Surge' and 'Core' in the tags section so people wanting to compare them can find this video.

  • What's better this or the leatherman blast??

  • @LAGASH40: That all depends on what you are going to use it for. The ST300 is a heavier duty MT than the Blast. Especially the pliers. If you are thinking along the lines of an everyday MT then the Blast is the MT for you. The Blast is an excellent MT.

  • Anyone knows if they make a multitool with a stitching awl for leather work or diagonal cutting pliers instead of needle nose pliers.

  • Nice review. Lots of good info. Thanks!

  • did you say ..where it is made?????

  • Can you make your voice normal instead of sounding like hard boiled egg? hehehe

  • what the fuck does a boiled egg sound like?

  • LOL~!!

  • @urkingod no

  • how is it different from Leatherman Surge ?

  • You can replace the wire cutter on the super tool makes it a bit better.

  • @1jump2many Any way thanks for your expertise on the subject matter.... Leatherman Hooah

  • @1jump2many .... The MUT EOD version is a a GO with me(will buy ASAP) Its like what I would have built custom .... well close to it . But the charge is what I'm looking at for Garrison use (stateside IE when not Deployed ) and EDC

the Gerber they issues kinda sucks I like Gerber knifes but not so much their multitools

BTW SOG Aegis is my favorite folding knife but i have little experience with sog mulittools

  • The Leatherman MUT should be a good seller for Leatherman. It isn't "just" a dedicated MT for AR maintenance like the Multitasker is. I like the Multitasker too though. The MUT isn't due to come out until September 2010. The Charge TTi is a GREAT MT. I can't say anything bad about it. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. I like SOG MT's, I have the Paratool, PowerLock and PowerAssist. I would recommend the PowerLock for you out of the three. Glad I could help. AIRBORNE! :-)

  • Leatherman needs to combine the fortified/replacable wire cutters plier head with the one handed primary tools (and other handle attributes) of the surge.

They could call it the Leatherman Omega.

  • This makes my leatherman look weak...

I just have the old Leatherman PST.

  • wave or super tool for military ops ? super tool in black is what i'm leaning towards

  • The Wave is more comparable with the Surge than the ST300. Both the Wave and Surge have one hand blade opening. The Surge and the ST300 are similar in size at 4.5". The main advantage the ST300 has is the wire cutters. So as far as for Military OPS I guess it would depend on what MOS you have to determine which tool is best.

  • @1jump2many

does this multi tool come with a sheath???

  • Yes, mine came with a leather sheath. That was all I saw available at the time. Now you can get it with a leather or nylon sheath. As well as stainless or black out color.

  • @1jump2many thanks man

i think i have made my decision

  • thanks I guess i'm looking for a capable medium multi tool for 11B task mostly but

want some precision for electronics and BDAR work like temp fixes on a MRAP ect...

  • @soldierZ28 If you're infantry you might want to consider the upcoming leatherman MUK.

  • yes 11B infantry and i have a secondary mos 63B wheeled vehicle mechanic. Also 13R target acquisition fire finder field artillery.

but when deployed I'M used for infantry task

  • Like PsychoFur mentioned Leatherman is coming out with the Leatherman MUT but not until September. It has some capabilities to help clean the M4 but would still require a cleaning kit. Also an upstart company called Mutitasker Tools has a tool that is dedicated even more toward AR maintenance. It may be a little too specific though. I know Brownells online has them for $74. Check out Multitool(dot)org for details on both of them.

  • Nice. Just got a supertool 300 for Xmas. Very, very happy :)

  • Very imformative and thorough video with good/helpful comparisons.

  • Great review. I would never thought it's the same model type like the Core but the SuperTool 300 has a better feel in my hand and I love the removable plier blades.

This was a very cool birthday gift from my wife and she gets a grin every time I pull it out to fix something. :-)

  • Good review, you can find the ST300 for close to $50 now :)

  • A review I can actually use! I'm giving out leathermans for christmas to the guys and I'll go with the core because then I can get more of them and they don't do any wire cutting. My core just got confiscated at the airport (boooo!) and I got a super tool 300 before really looking at it and was concerned whether it would compare to the core. Question answered! Thanks!

  • nice review man, especially b/c you compared, thats what there needs to be more of in reviews of knives n such - comparisons

  • Great review and comparison 1Jump2Many! Thanks for posting it.

  • really useful review. not only did u review the supertool 300, you actually compared them to the other leatherman multitools. seems like you own them all! thanks for the review. :)

  • Glad I could be of help. If I had to only choose one tool, between the Super Tool 300 and the Core, I would have to go with the Super Tool 300. But as you mentioned, I do like them all. I like Leatherman, Victorinox and SOG multitools.

  • Hi great review btw. One thing I would like to see on this Super Tool 300 is the lanyard attachment could you demo that please?

  • the best review of letherman multitooli've ever seen, very useful

  • Thanks for kind words, glad I could be helpful.

  • thanks for the video man, i ordered mine from amazon, cant wait for ti to arrive :D

  • damn....i am getting it!
