  • Edge is so boring it took me 5 days to write this comment, because I kept feeling a sleep thinking about him.

  • they didnt play this... they felt it...

  • sound and video are not sincronized

  • Jack White is a dick. He shouldn't be in the same room as they 2.

  • Inmy time of dying! Great song

  • wow

  • i really love jacks sound.;...is so epic

  • To all of those saying that The Edge is crap, especially with the slide:

YOU'VE NEVER HEARED "BULLET THE BLUE SKY"

It is the best slide song in the world, and will never, EVER, be beaten.

    Matt.

  • It's interesting to see all of them using the bottleneck on different fingers with different playing styles.... It just tells me: There is no wrong when playing the guitar...

  • I prefer Jonny Greenwood or Kevin Shields for atmospheres instead The Edge. He is in "no man's land", in my humble opinion.

  • jack white, one of the most individual and talented guitarists of this generation, forever a role model to blues musicians the world over, my hat goes off to you.

  • youve missed the point of the dam concept three musicians from three generations jimmy all about 70s rock the edge eighties until now then jack recently.

  • The edge sounds better than the other, because he is musician first then guitarrist

  • they could of had so many better people that the edge. slash, jeff beck, john frisciante should i go on....

  • @Chidganator but none of those has created what edge has created.

  • the edge proved his selfe trough the years on his own way he just dousnt know the style there playing but he comes along it would be nice if they could share there ideas with jimmy h

  • i'm not a big U2 fan and i dont care so much about the edge but why the fuck everybody claims about the edge's guitar playing in this vid?

the feeling of his bottleneck is gorgeos, not that agressive, but fucking great!

listen to: 01:50 or 02:24 thats reallly great bottleneck playing!

  • wondefull!

  • Jimmy Page is simply the best

  • THE EDGE ROCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKS

  • the music has been overdubbed/ a typical page ploy- to appear better than he actually is. If he wasnt one of the Iluminati's favourite boys then page would have been a crack shoe shop manager; 'only time will tell if ive been a fool' page 1972, the clock is turning!

  • @dofnad Whut.

  • they should have kicked out the edge and put in angus young.

  • Who cares who winning? Very much just fun to watch them all play and have fun TOGETHER..... Thx for posting this.... very much , indeed.

  • ROCK ON JACK WHITE!!!

  • omg, those "fuck edge!!!11" - comments are so childish... why dont you just shut the fuck up?

  • I think it's fair to say that I would give my left testicle to be Jimmy Page.

  • that osong is so fun to play with a slide i do it everytime i use one hahah

  • fuck the edge and u2. bono too

  • those guitars (: ♥

  • what's this shit? this is a real joke

  • wow i miss say jack white is one hell of slide guitar player wow does anyone know what kinda of humbucker he has on his guitar?

  • I love the scene where they're playing with the theremin and Jimmy keeps cutting the Edge off before he can finish talking.

  • What's great about this movie is Jimmy Page is never at any moment the brooding type of musician that gives out bullshit metaphors and dodges questions about his playing or songs that he wrote. When asked about something he can't wait to show the guys on guitar. You can tell Page was having a blast with Jack White and the Edge.

  • i mean im a guitar player but i really never under stood white .the edge(dave evans) and jimmy page r like my heroes

  • more like page and the edge make a band and white should be back up

  • damn ppl stop arguing about an unexistent musician competition! they just use their styles... no one is over no one in this song... they just do what they best know, play the guitar. Each of these guitarists has his style, and he tries the best... they are not in a musical race, just having a walk

  • edge looks way lost here.. hes out of his element, there is not 30 effects peddles to make his sound...I have nothing against edge, but he dosent belong here, you can see on his face hes just lost and dumbfounded as page and white play...he was looking but still couldnt find what he was looking for...just my opinion

  • @93652

I totally agree, the dude is awesome, with technical stuff,as soon as he is on his own,he's lost.

  • Jack White!!!!

    JImmy..

I LOVE THIS. this is my heaven... I think I just died..

  • thats so fuckin disgusting that a legend like jimmy page is playing with a couple of knuckle heads that shouldn't even be in the same room as him!!!!!!!!!!! jack white??

    wtf is this bullshit!!!!

  • the edges solo is fucking sweet!!!!

  • I get chills listening to Edge. Its soooo boring and then Edge brings the magic

  • No offence but The Edge is fail XD

Jack and Jimmy have the same core, the blues. Read it perfectly phrased somewhere, something like "Jimmy is a rock'n'roll guitarist borrowing heavily from the blues, Jack is a blues guitarist borrowing heavily from rock'n'roll" :) Respect where it's due though, The Edge is iconic in his own right I guess, just doesn't really work here.

  • Don't agree at all

  • With a name like 'drvertigo' and a comment that says the Edge gives you chills, I'm not very surprised you dont agree with me. But hey, what's the world without differences? :)

  • this is not the edge's style of music

  • Put Billy Gibbons in the movie instead of the Ledge or whatever his name is and u'd have a solid guitar movie going.

  • Awsome movie! Does anybody know were i can get it?

  • @acm12358

    A movie store?

  • wow that's amazing, poor the edge he's like so out of line here

  • The Edge is so underrated.

  • the edge sounds terrible

  • i love the bit at 2.43 when the edge smiles and watches jack white outclass him.he knows hes beaten.lol

  • @tboogie2584 I think probably everyone on this page likes to listen to jack white but you...

  • he is like i didn't need that stupid echo effect... ima go son house on your ass

  • Well Jack at heart is a blues player its his element.

  • Although I love Edge's playing, he's not a blues-based player, so didn't ever develop the necessary speedy chops to win here.

  • @deathletter69 i'm more of a Jack White guy than an Edge guy but I have to say The Edge's little solo captured me more than White's. It had more emotion and brought a totally different feel into the song.

  • @deathletter69

Beaten?? BEATEN??? What do you think this is? A pissing contest??

Listen - musicians love MUSIC! When that takes off full power, musicians LOVE IT!

If you are into who's the best.... Then watch a sports game or something. Cz if you were right, being #2 would more or less be waisted time. Musicians don't think that. They love each others' music. Almost as much as they love playing with each other!

  • Comment removed

  • @diemc7a1 except the edge

  • @deathletter69 Yeah lol. hes no match for jack and his kay

  • at 3:04 notice they both have different guitars :)

  • they should make a band! Page & White playing and the Egde can be the tea boy...

  • @kidzsanlorenzo i love the sarcasm in your tone put i doubt he is good enough to hold the legends cup

  • Egde is not bad guitar player... I like Jack and Jimmy better but he's got his own unique style.

  • @kidzsanlorenzo hahaha tea boy

  • @kidzsanlorenzo LOLOLOL

  • @kidzsanlorenzo hahhah,....tea boy..

  • Cool Cut man, they sound GOOD together.

  • You guys are all retarded because all that matters is that this sounds amazing! It is very rare that you get to see 3 famous guitarists jam so just shut up and enjoy it!

  • "Girlie World" is right. I have the Blind Willie Johnson vinyl record.

    Dan

  • This video is beyond amazing. They all sounded fantastic. I love what Edge plays.

  • to elaborate i dont believe page fired anyone from the yardbirds, they just slowly fell apart, paul samwell smith was going to stay but didnt want to go straight into touring, which was imperative because the yardbirds have gig obligations in scandinavia. Page couldnt get terry reid so he took reids suggestion and checked out planty, who brought bonham, Jonesy was already on board.

  • good explanation, but what i want to know is if the Yardbirds that are touring around now, is that the original Yardbirds?

  • why do i barely scan the comments and immediately see stupidity jumping out at me, forcing me to respond?! first of all The Led Zep song is based on the old blues song, that is a fact, but the instrumental arrangements were totally changed and expanded in new ways. Jimmy Page started out on bass temporarily for the yardbirds and eventually ended up the primary guitarist, and then eventually ended up the ONLY remaining member until the yardbirds became the new yardbirds which then became led zep.

  • please, silence with your narrow opinions you retarded,i want this DVD

  • I hate to say it but they look rather bored and awkward in this clip.

  • where do you see bored and awkward? i see passion and intensity, like, BLEEDING from this clip.

  • Comment removed

  • They should have put david gilmour in there

  • Jack and Edge are out of their league.

  • yeah everybody is in awe of jimmy page,

jack wants to outdo him so bad.

  • Well Page started it all when it comes to hard/heavy rock, he set the benchmark in the beggining.

In some repects what we've heard in rock over the last 30-40 years, has been the result of people 'trying' to out do him....

He's the 'real' king of Rock n Roll.

  • hendrix too no doubt.

  • definately there were other great musicians from that era and they all had different flavours.. but Zeppelin became the quintessential rock band.

  • "Page started it"? Ya don't say! It's news to me bud! So Clapton, Beck, Blackmore and a zillion others are just no-counts, but Page is the one who started it? HAHAHA!!

    God, you're blinkered!

  • Yeah! Wankers, all of them! Page taught em everything they know! LOL!

  • If you'd read the statement correctly I wouldn't have to spoon feed your dumb ass. Led Zep took rock music to a whole new level, broke all previous records and Jimmy was the guitarist, producer & mastermind behind the whole thing. You mention Beck and Clapton? Jimmy took over from they're shitty disfunctional band the Yardbirds and turned it into the biggest band in the world. Your statement proves that you just don't get it so shhhh.

  • You dumb fuck. he filled in for their bass player in the beginning, but soon took over as lead guitarist replacing Clapton. He eventually took over the band, hand picked new muso's, re named them 'The New Yardbirds' did one tour and then renamed them Led Zeppelin. None of you seem to know shit so again shhhh

  • You really believe that shite, huh? So, last man in, fires every fucker and starts a new band? LOL! Hail Page, the all conquering hero! HAHA!

He payed bass cos that's all there was for him on offer, he played guitar on precious little with the yardies. He handpicked nobody. Also, Led Zep had fuck all to do with the yardbirds.

  • Your making a fool of yourself with your complete lack of knowledge.

I didn't say anything about him firing anyone. After the yardbirds slowly disbanded. He auditioned replacement muso's so that they could do a tour that they were still committed to doing. He eventually PICKED Jones, Plant & Bonham. They toured as the 'New Yarbirds' before later changing they're name to Led Zep, and so you see Led Zep had alot to do with the Yardbirds because the New Yardbirds WERE in fact Led Zeppelin.

  • "The Yardbirds - Train Kept A Rollin' (With Jimmy Page 1968)"

    watch?v=aZ4O8Ly4Ejg

Here's page playing some "6-string bass" with the Yardbirds ;-)

    Even does a solo

  • Wrong url, here he is playing a 4 string bass.

    watch?v=EOheWvkjq78

He actually played more bass than guitar during his stint with the yardies.

  • I was just kidding ... I posted an old link of him playing guitar with the yardbirds and said he was playing "six-string" bass because you said he only played bass with the Yardbirds ;-)...

I guess playing bass was the foot in the door and by the time he was playing guitar there, the band was soon to disperse... I read there were still contractual obligations (gigs booked?) so he looked for other players ... and the 'New Yardbirds' fulfilled those obligations (basically Led Zeppelin).

  • pretty much every way

  • I too really wanna hear this!

  • Jack white and the Edge are in now way

the caliber of musician as Jimmy Page

Jimmy Page is a genius for sure!!!

Jack White and Edge give me a break..

    No comparison...

  • Comment removed

  • who are you refering to thats no genius and took a lifetime to learn to play like that???

  • Comment removed

  • You really don't know anything about anything. Jimmy took a lifetime haha!

  • Couldn't agree more!

  • Comment removed

  • the edge noob

  • your mother : cunt

  • Incredible!wish there was more scenes like this in the film of them jamming rather then the alone interviews. My favourite bit was when Jimmy starts playing the intro of Whole Lotta Love, The Edge and Jack's reaction is as giddy as any of our reactions would be!

  • i agree

  • The edge wasn't giddy he was in AWW

  • fijaros pff la guitarra que tiens jimmy al principio y con la q acaba abrazandose a edge

  • The Edge rocks, jimmy is the legend, white is a amazing musician.

  • @pacovailoes lol their ya go settled.

  • Comment removed

  • it is not umpromptu

  • Comment removed

  • what makes you say that?

  • Comment removed

  • no premeditaion whatsoever??? you do realise this is 'In my time of dying' recorded by Led Zeppelin in 1975. Jack and Edge would have heard it a thousand times.

  • Comment removed

  • HAHAHA! I think EVERYONE and their bro has heard it a thousand times!

But everyone's NOT playing it, are they?

    Get real.

  • Nah! They practised it first! By email!

    LOL!

  • @FSofty well no but they all knew the song beforhand

  • They didn't 'sing', so it's not technically a song. It's a simple blues based around a riff in an open key.

  • Only this IS a real song, with REAL lyrics & REAL structure.. Its from a REAL album.. thats already been RELEASED..

Page is simply showing them how to play some of it....LOL WTF!!!

  • Oh, I see! So, he's teaching them it?! Ah, the dumbfucks don't know this number then? LOL.

It's one chord, with a blues scale and wide open to interpretation by any half decent musician. Thet're simply jamming with whatever the first guy starts with. If he'd played 'whole lotta love, the result would've been the same, they'd just jump in whether they had previously heard it or not. Guitarists do it all the time...'ya know! But you're not a gutarist, so wtf do YOU know? HAHA!

  • Yeh.. I remember when I first started playing guitar about 23 years ago, my brothers and I would jam on this in much the same way.

Its an easy tune to play, you just tune to open A, take your slide, and you should easily work it out. If the others are tuned to the same open chord they can't really make a mistake.. anything they play will generally sound ok.. this is often confused with 'great improvisation' but the fact is that your playing in the same key so its actually hard to fuck it up.

  • wow your fucking retarded. this is in my time of dying by L.Z. and it is a song even if there is no singing you fucking noob and it is not blues or simple for that matter

  • I'm afraid you're quite wrong there.

    Taken from Wiki :-

"In My Time of Dying" is a traditional gospel music song that has been covered by many rock musicians since the early 1960s. The first known recording of this song was under the title "Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed" recorded by blues-gospel guitarist Blind Willie Johnson; the sides were recorded over the period 1927-1930.

With a tuning of A/E/A/E/C#/E, it's not exactly classical, is it? :)

Seems YOU are the "fucking retard".

  • Is that the correct tuning? I have seen it alternatively transcribed as E/A/E/A/C#/E -- I'll have to give it a try.

  • @DelayedY2K how can you understand led zeppelin if you have no knowledge of their roots?

  • the non-U2 fans.....i will tell you this...i heard their lp 'war' when i was 13 and it changed my life, that is a powerful rock record, huge drum sound, emotional lyrics, they changed my whole perspective on what music means to me.

  • U2 did the exact same thing to me...except it was with The Joshua Tree/Rattle and Hum and I was 14. What their music does to a person's soul is mind-blowing

  • And the exact same to me when I was 16 with Achtung Baby, Zooropa and Pop.

  • power trio!!!

  • I love the two solos that Edge plays, they sound so melodic. One of the few guitarists who can make the guitar sound like a jet engine or as sweet as a violin...

  • then it should be right up your alley ...polesmoker

The Edge laughs last at all those who laugh at him and while he's filling up stadiums around the world...all you're filling up with is a lot of hot air...you fucking blowhard bag of wind

  • @wolfennyc

he is filling up stadiums? Come on!... Bono is doing it... anyways, Led Zep could fill up 2 or 3 stadiums if they get reunited

  • @jlfpgrillo

No one of them plays anything technically sophisticated in this vid, so relax.

    They're just havin' fun.

  • haha..i dont care for u2 either..but what the hell is a solo for school girls?

  • @philwalker if you havent seen the movie, go see it. in my opinion jack was the best in the movie. both jack and jimmy stood out the most. but if you see the movie I think it will change your opinion of Jack

  • yeah, but its not soo much guitar gods,i mean each of these guys have done something completely new for thier generation. Don't get me wrong, john mayer is a great guitarist, but the music scene has heard that style already from hendrix, clapton,he hasn't done anything that you haven't herd before. Jack White has defined a new style of playing. John Mayer, not soo much.

  • you probably didn't watch the movie. if you'd watched, you would know jack would kick mayer's ass.

  • I love the contrast of the 3 guitar sounds here. Jimmy Page has that big rich and powerful sound. Jack White has more a wailing tone, almost like the guitar just got fatally hurt. Old-style 1930's blues. Then the Edge comes in with that hollow, angelic sound almost like someone in Heaven is playing the blues. I can't pinpoint one part of the video that is my fav...all of it is awesome.

  • hmmm some pretty shody editing at the end, look at jimmys guitars

  • thanks for your comments :D

    yeah..I'm speechless too

  • Oh. My. Lord.

    Amazing.

  • omg this clip was amazing this

just shows that Jack White is

    are generation guitar god

LONG LIVE THE GREAT JACK WHITE

  • Okay, that was just the coolest thing in the entire world.

  • Amazing...

  • this...is. ... really cool
