Generally blue lights are for emergency vehicles only, and most in jurisdictions its reserved for police only, check your local laws before you get nailed with a felony.
@gamer4585 I realize that, but i can't really imagine that there are many exceptions to this, its a pretty general rule that flashing blue lights are law enforcement.
@fomocowboy dont know about indiana, but in PA volunteer firefighters may run BLUE lights. captain and cheifs along with the fire police captain and one leiutenant may run RED and WHITE lights with a siren.
the blue lights do noit legally require people to yield. its a curtesy light to request the right of way.

@fomocowboy Actually, state law depending, its not illegal. The reason why you don't see blue on any other vehicles is, in fact, because blue is reserved for Volunteer Firefighters. New York State law, for example, reserves BLUE strictly for volunteer firefighters. They actually had to revise the law recently to allow law enforcement to display blue in the rear just because studies have proven blue to be more eye catching than red, amber, etc.
@Champx10 Out west here, firefighters and ambulances and construction vehicles are only allowed to use red, white and amber flashing lights (although I have seen green too, but I doubt its reserved for anything), that must be interesting to see other vehicles than police to have blue lights. anyways, I got the point, it varies from state to state.
@wiegje If you have reason like i can get them cause I am a firefighter and so I can get to the station they are just to let people know you are there they cant be used to speed like a cop because you cant have reds witch are just for chiefs of a fire company the trucks and cop cars.
@MegaTyler54 Okay, slow down. Apparently there's different rules on blue lights in the US. Here we only have blue lights on emergency vehicles (fire dept, EMT, police) and only those are allowed to have them on official government vehicles. Fire fighters get cars from the gov (painted red, blue lights on top, etc) so they can get to the station quickly. So only cars with the red-blue combination are allowed to speed?
@MegaTyler54 Ah okay... weird :O But do people not move aside, or do they not have to move aside if they see a car with just blue lights? Or does it absolutely need to have a blue/red combo? Or just red? And is that different for each state?
Im getting a mustang and glad you cant trademark this bc im gonna copy probably every bit of your set up. Im a volunteer fire fighter and we are allowed blue and white in the front and blue and red in the back.
you can now pull over anyone you want lol. i would pull over if i saw that in my rear view. Might get in trouble by the coppers for setting em up like that though
@kodythepimp01 hahaha actually youre really wrong. if you roll up and pull someone over with these its imitating a cop and you can get SO many fines for it.
Awesome setup! I like the simplicity of it. I'm also gonna give my standard blanket statement: To everyone commenting and asking about the different rules and regulations regarding POV lighting, worry about yourselves, I'm sure he took all this into consideration. If not, that's his problem. I'm tired of posts arguing over different rules and regs...
presto thats incorrect... i was a RAM member of my dept when i was 16. i had a couple of lights.. so really its up to your dept. btw, awesome setup :)
Thats not true, as soon as i joined the dept when i was 16, ive been running code 3 with blue lights and a pa/air horn for a year and a half now, idk nickpresto, bad luck for you bud lol
again, chief officer's discretion. to my knowledge new yorkers can't run any type of audible with blues, to include air horns. lemme know if that has changed. i have quite a setup due to the fact that i am a new york FF and military stationed out of state. i volunteer all over the country. i have red and blue with siren pack. just gotta have the integrity only use what you are authorized in the areas you are authorized it.
