I am Taking a Professionnal diving course now in Rimouski, Québec at Institut maritime du québec, requirement around the world are the same '' at least 18 years of age most places'' Some scuba experience and the Strengh and knowlodge to pass the try-outs, now there are alot of jobs that can be done underwater, some school just give you the diving technics and basics, a good diver needs to be able to do anything underwater like if it were at the surface.

I'm 13 and scuba diving is my favorite sport and I am looking into becoming a commercial diver and I talk to my dive instructors and they say it's good to start young so I'm starting to go for my Master Diver certification so I can start tec diving

@MLGUltraRebel. Do your class 4 3 and 2 then start with civils work if you can get log hours and XP. Then you will need an offshore survival course too. Do it, dont let time pass you by.

I used to work in the gulf. I am now in college to become an engineer.I have the dream of becoming a diving civil engineer. College was easy at first; however, I find it is getting harder and harder simply because I am getting more bored with every passing day. I believe the Bane of the offshore diver is boredom induced by mainstream society.

hey i'm pursing commercial diving as a career. i would really like to ask you some questions through e-mail if possible i would really like your advice. im going to a 5 months program school in eriel nj called divers academy international after that what other schools or program should i enter, or do i just get training and experience from the company itself? please reply i would really appreciate it

The training and entry into the industry is a little different in America to the rest of the world ie once you have left Dive school you will have to be a Tender. There are plenty of videos on here filmed in the Gulf of Mexico, it would be better to contact one of those guys as they can offer you far better advise than I can.

I worked for Global for about 7 years. Didnt break out until after 4 years tendering.The reason I was top side for so long is because I was affraid of competing for a diver position. Once I was in the water It was hard for me to get comfortable, not because I was scared but because my mind was racing, "I am gonna F this job up, F'n Dive Sup is going to shit down my throat again for something small, blah....." For those interested, This job is not for everyone! and not without a sacrifice....

i think its a bit of both, some get amazing jobs in clear blue seas in thailand and mexico like this, getting paid loads, while others are in the north sea with shit floating around them, being paid a lot less.

i was goin to do a commercial diving course as well until i read about all the commercial divers on a web forum giving out shit about the diving schools saying that all they do is lie and give u hope of huge money when fact its actually very hard to maintain steady work as a commercial diver thats on 100 pounds a day or the equiv in most places around the world, its alot of dough id ask more about it first and not only from them

depends on the company. if u work for a non union company ull make about 16 an hour, if you work for a union company ull make 89 an hour. the rates are as of today

well mostly diving under Tugboats and Line boats so not too deep. sometimes they dumbass deck hands loose stuff, or it falls of the barges and we dive when the rivers low, maybe 20 - 35 Ft.
