  • inflation is a good thing, it's a sign the economy is growing

  • @Smeagollum86 So hyper-inflation then must be wonderful. Everyone in Zimbabwe had 100,000,000 Zimbabwe Dollars. So why did their currency collapse? Inflation is not good, it is theft. When you create more currency, it devalues the amount of currency already in circulation. Currency is not wealth, but a representation of wealth. As more and more currency is created it destroys the purchasing power of the currency.

  • my freind told me ps3 is 3000$ and a game like 300$ dawmmmmmm

  • What's the hard hat for in a meat market ???

  • @dxpeo LOL

  • perhaps im empathetic to the vegetarian cause, but honestly those people should learn to change their lifestyle and eat less pork. It's most environmentally stable to eat less meat and more of everything else. And they'll probably find their grocery bills dropping too, this goes the same for anyone in any country

  • Hey, at least they're not obese or fat.

Can't say the same for the Americans.

  • @LovelyYTRocks It's because they eat fresh produce and whole grains...not the processed crap pumped full of preservatives, sugar & fat that most Americans are stuffing their faces with

  • even though the prices has gone up in china and i still consider it VERY CHEAP (i live in canada) but prices has gone up everywhere, and even though its just a bit it will eventually go up so much...kind of bothers & worries me...

i always wonder if the price will ever go back down...

  • Not in China where the evil government that controls capital and society will increase inflation virtually voluntarily-and believe me that's all it takes for a government to end up feeding an inflationary cycle with demand side reductions in the captial requirement-actaully do they have commercial banks? The state bank, if there is one, must be commercial because the state runs commerce. Anyway, they're not going to wilfully reduce the inflationary spiral because that'll be unpalatable for them

  • Price Controls?

HAHAHAHA! THA'TS SO FUNNY? ARE YOU SERIOUS? THAT SH IT DON'T WORK, YO!

  • It is the government disease. It doesn't matter if it works. the politicians get paid so they have to appear to do something. :P

  • that actually could be a good idea. countries with no price controls have it worse (like many countries in africa)

  • 15 cents a pound for Tofu?! That's a steal!

  • Lol, it's all relative.

  • man, this is china.

  • with Yuan money supply being 20% for years to prevent the yuan rising against other currencies and the chinese government factually stealing the work from their citizens, it's end of the road now. Bank reserve ratios have already been compressed to 1/4 and a lot of the money being mopped up by banks forcebly buying sterilisation loans. The price controls will just cause shortages, they never worked in history. The cause was always to much money printed by the ruling counter fitters

  • you greedy fucking white cracker burn in hell

  • Maybe the yanks should introduce a FAT TAX upon themselves for overeating. That way the food supply might increase

  • Inflation is caused when to much money is chasing to few goods. So to say that too much is being manufactured is a bit off. A way to controll inflation would be to increase the interest rate so people borrow less from the banks, wich would take money out of the economy. That would stabalize the price on things, but the major problem in an increasing globalized world is that even though people in china are not borrowing money from banks foreign investors are still going over there with their cash

  • Nice work. keep it up. mean time come for social media marketing for esteembpo**com GH

  • nah, inflation is happening everywhere on basically everything. btw, how is food becoming inflated? The fact that too much of it is being manufactured, so it's becomes worth less?

  • Net savings occurs when money IN exceeds money OUT. Therefore, the requirement of net savings is an increase of amount deposited. There are two major ways this can occur. X) Increase the money supply. Y) Have a positive trade balance. Without either X or Y, savings cannot increase.

    Prices rise In two situations:

    P) Savings growth exceeds economic growth (monetary inflation)

    Q) Economic decline exceeds the decline of savings (stagflation)

  • My laminated Olympics Message Card instructs me to say that: "Inflation and food prices in general are fine when considering the perfect exeucution of the Olympics. The food is beautiful and nourishing, much like the beautiful Olympics and their perfect execution. We see these venues in the future carrying the message of these perfectly executied Olympics, just like the beuatiful message of successful food products and pricing. I am very happy to be at these Olympics."

  • lol

  • chinese women seem so strong and hardworking =X

  • compare to korea,much cheaper

  • A bit less fucked up also.

  • hahaha yeah... but compare their income to korea... they're also much lower. given PPP (purchasing power of parity), i think the price hike is probably doing some considerable damage to the laobaoxing (common people). i mean, with stables going up by 30% and income staying exactly the same... it's ought to be damaging, no matter where you live in.

  • cant compare an independent country like china with a vassal state like s.korea. s.korea dont have its own sovernity, if they do, tell me why there are 30000 US troops stationed in s.korea. no independent country can accept armies from another country to station in their countries. can you teach us how s.korea manage to do that.

  • So the U.K., Germany, Italy, and Japan aren't sovereign countries either?

They're called allies, and just because it's mutually beneficial for one country to have a large number of troops in another doesn't mean that country has given up its sovereignty. South Korea is still technically at war, so having an allied military presence isn't weird at all. Japan has a treaty to have their defense provided by another country, and that could be construed as a lack of sovereignty, but not S. Korea.

  • UK, Germany and Italy dont have US troops stationed on their soils but Japan and S. Korea have no option but require protection from the US as they cant defend themselves which is a shame only people with no dignity can accept this.

  • Germany has about 60,000 personnel stationed there, and the U.K. and Italy have about another 10,000 each.

Japan doesn't really have a choice, considering the fact that it was a punitive measure imposed by the U.S. at the end of WWII. South Korea is on the most heavily militarized border in the world, so having the backup of an ally isn't a shot at their dignity, it's called "not being a total dumbass and asking your allies to leave when a batshit insane dictator wants to wipe you off the map."

  • Chinese only love pork, it's an inelastic food item.

  • whats that for?thx for supporting construction industry if u mean that

  • are NOT, that what i meant, sorry.

  • as you can see, many chinese people are pure heart and hardworking, however the economical, social, cultural and political environment are allowing them to perform their full potential. how sad is that!

  • Just remember, Jeffery Dahmer ate for free.

  • it's got to do with the olympics and increase of demand for everything.

  • Interesting espisode!

  • china is changing everytime. massive freeway n transit systems now. amazing

  • It is said that compared on length, US is No.1 and China is No.2 now in the world. It just take 2 decades from no highway to No.2. Amazing development speed.

  • This is a really serious question, we cant go the same path as japanese did in 1980s.

  • wow why don't u wear a green hat

  • pork has gone up in price 56%. most of that pork is imported from brazil. look for more world food prices to go up in cost becuase food is imported from other countries. All imported food(and everything else) goes up when oil prices skyrocket.

This is only the start of what is to come. Food prices have have gone up in the usa too, did you know that? you are now getting less food for the same price!

  • lol, I love some of the ladies' characters. they are so cute. it's nice to see what china is like and it's people and personalities.

  • lmao love her accent, can't afford tofu, eating potatos and cabages

  • hahaha, yea so cute

  • hmmm... sorry to get you back on the floor, but im not from the US. i'm from some tiny country in europe. beside that, every bank works that way. they "lend" money in a rate from 10-50:1 to the amount people have as deposits. thats nothing only some banks do. all work that way. yours (i suppose your from there) in china also do.

  • why this lady's always wearing that stupid yellow plastic hat?

    for safty ?

  • that is her style

  • dude, you got a sense of humor, you induce people to give some funny replies.

  • Nice Movie Guys - hes a legend! hgrant.net

  • lol. dude, u watch too many movies. haha!

  • lol some people shouldnt have been born.

  • 其实对我们以及我们身边的很多人来说,价格涨那么一点是丝毫没有感觉的...不过有些贫困的人来说也许就不是这样了吧...

  • wtf, I undertand rice is a necessity but noodles are not.

  • The necessity of rice or noodles are different in certain parts of china. Northern china eats mainly noodles because it is harder to cultivate rice in colder weather. Southern China gets by easier on rice. So, it's mainly a matter of location that determines what one can eat when living in China

  • O.k. lol

  • Great topic to talk about.

  • as a Canadian, this webisode is a real eye-opener; I feel for the seniors who are tryng to get by on a fixed income

  • when I was little I was taught that the only thing that the chinese had in abundance were bycicles and people. The world sure is changing awfuly fast.

  • lol, funny, but not the truth for sure...

  • i agree with you...

  • china is changing everytime. massive freeway n transit systems now. amazing

  • This is one more sign that we live in a global economy, inflacion is a problem all over the world. In Slovenia we had 6,5% in 2007 and this year it also looks that it is gona be high, so is in other EU countries. So we have a loot of problems with sindicates trying to demand from companies higher wages (witch resaults in lower compativnes for companies), and this a big problem, like a domino efect witch all countries will have a problem facing it.

  • The obvious answer is to let the reminbi appreciate against the US$ but China's government is too proud about being seen as being pushed around by "imperialist" western governments - especailly the US Congress - to do that. It rather let it citizens suffer the price rise rather than lose face.

  • LOL. you may have a point. I live in China and there is nothing more powerful (and retarded) than chinese people's 'face' value.

  • better stop it before it becomes hard prison bar show...

  • why is she wearing a hard hat?

  • World-wide demand has gone up thanks to the developing countries.

  • Samo samo everywhere, even in US.

  • same happens in Germany. All rises up...milk,flour,oil and so on.

  • Inflation is caused by an increase in the money supply, which devalues the currency.

Price increases for other reasons are not inflation. There was a pig disease that killed lots of pigs, that made prices go way up. With food, just like America and other idiotic governments, the Chinese are spending money to turn food into fuel, shrinking the supply of food.

  • A rise in aggregate demand also cause inflation, "demand-pull inflation". Central banks often increase discount rate to cool down the overheating economy. There is also the "cost-push inflation", which is happening right now world wide, as energy costs increased. A low exchange rate also causes inflation. Look what happaned to the US dollar. Also, according to Wall Street Journal, the demand for food did increase recently world-wide.

  • The demand for food in China has probably increased a lot because of the countries boom in their economy. They also had a rise of a new middle class who could afford imported name brand items like Samsung, Sony, Polo and Levi's. My Chinese friend says that China is changing rapidly every time he visits China. The people are different and the economy is different.

  • No, middle class in China are buying Honda, VW, Ford, Builk, Caddy, Audi etc. Top class are buying Bently, RR, etc.

  • thats the upper middle class. And Audi and Caddy shouldn't be listed in those categories of cars.

I'm talking about the "new middle class." You could categorize them as the lower-middle class i guess. Before the economic boom, these people barely made enough money. Now those people are getting more money so they can afford a car.

In short a lot of people moved up the social ladder but the rich got even richer.

  • Rich always get richer, poor always get poorer!

  • hi, i like your video

  • Part of the problem seems to be rising demand (people getting richer so buying more pork and oil) but a lower supply (farmers moving to the cities to work in offices).

  • China-owned US Dollars has rising to $1.53 trillion, with an increasing rate at like $1.3 billion a day. China's saving rate ranks 1st in the world(50%), which is related to big projects executed by China administration. Inflation is inevitable. Pork, Egg, Natural resources, whatz next?

  • i thought high saving rate keeps inflation down, right? If people save more then they spend less. maybe it's due to the shortage of support of pork and oil, because it says the price of rice and fish didn't go up much, only pork and oil did.

  • You obviously were drinking in the bars when you were suppose to be attending economics 101. A high savings rates means that there is a large pool of money that can be used to spend, lend out or invest by the banks or other financial institutions. Which means it is easier for people to borrow money to invest in housing, business. or spend As there is so much money chasing so few goods and assets, that creates inflation

  • well... no. a high saving rate means noone is gonna take loans. like in 1929. banks don't realy need ppl's money to give loans. they can lend you money without having much of a deposit layed.

  • Banks who lend money to people without much of a deposit are stupid. That's why you have a credit crisis in the US threatening the world economy right now. And after the debacle we are seeing in the US, Banks are going to back to the old fashion way of asking people for a bigger deposit - unless they want to end up like Bear Stearns or Northern Rock or Citigroup etc..

  • hmmm... sorry to get you back on the floor, but im not from the US. i'm from some tiny country in europe. beside that, every bank works that way. they "lend" money in a rate from 10-50:1 to the amount people have as deposits. thats nothing only some banks do. all work that way. yours (i suppose your

  • 贫富差距加大啊

    中国开始变成一个富人的社会呗

  • Yeah - this is interesting. I guess this is what happens with too much government regulation. If people aren't buying, prices will go down, unless the market is not really the issue.

  • good info, same things happens in sweden.

    good show, love it :)

  • The pork in China is as the same price as in US. Think about it, the average GNP of China is about 5% of US!!

  • isnt 1 yuan like 12 cents in the US?

  • Thx. informative as always!

  • that was a really interesting watch. thanks for uploading this!

  • if you rely on the locals to get what you need, that could cut back on the price of everything. but considering there is nowhere to grow the crops anywhere local, i guess it's a dead end theory. that really sucks

  • Great topic to talk about. Perfect timing.

  • Could China have a similar economic melt down like Argentina did back in 2001 in inflation keeps going up? I wonder!

  • lol price control

  • And that poor woman selling tofu won't get by much easier farming. Face it, for all of 2007, I can count the number of "blue-sky days" on my hands. And I can count the number of days that it rained on one hand.

  • That is precisely the reason I left China because as much as I liked Beijing I couldn't Stand the gray constant skies.

BJ is a cool city but I didn't see any improvements in the environment as others say.

  • of course, it depends on where the woman's from. There's still places with clean skies and lots of rain (sometimes too much) in China.

  • The government needs to wake up and get those subsidies up and running. It's ridiculous. The average annual income of an urban Chinese is about US$1000 which, frankly, is no where enough to deal with the inflation springing up around here.

  • If the government spends a huge chunk of money on subsidies, that will create mor demand for food - which is inflationary - especially when there is a shortage of grain and pork in China.

  • I've been waiting for your shows for so long!!!

    where's sufei though?

  • That hella sucks. I work a a grocery store here in calli and and 18 count eggs are like 7 bucks and keep going up and milk is like 5 bucks a gallon

  • Will they eventually go down???!!!
