Trying to decide whether SNES or Genesis is better is like comparing 360 and PS3..

The genesis had a better processor and the snes had a better sound card and ram. Discussion over. Sonic isn't good because of reused sprites? Seriously? Maybe in stage 1....oh wait...you probably never got past that point..sorry for this misunderstanding.

snes was great, BUT OH MAN GENESIS , if you played games like contra hard corps gunstar heroes or fucking lightening force you can see why I like the sega a little more.

@xHAZELRAHx Actually that's slightly backwards. Genesis games could never seem create ambiance. Take Sonic the hedgehog, sure the game was fun but graphically, Sonics 1-3 had not original things from each other. Same reused sprites, level design etc. Also in the SNES 2D platformers had 3D layering effects like going behind objects, fog, jungle branches covering portions of the stage, and little subtle yet amazing touches like that. The Genesis could not compete in library or graphics.

@Cyr0Gyr0 I've played both systems a lot, they were both pretty awesome at the time. Infact, they still are. I realize now that those whose hobbies included sports, they all had a Genesis (Megadrive actually). Those who didn't rly know what to get for their kids bought them a SNES with SMB All-Stars. Didn't really matter which one you had, nobody ever refused to play either console. I remember everyone having fun and only occasionally arguing over which one was better.

Both Genesis and SNES kick major ass! I know that PS3, 360, and Wii are the flavors of the time, but I still find myself going back to games like Streets of Rage 3 and Chrono Trigger. Long live the 16-Bit Era!

If you think sega is better you're blind. I can't believe idiots thought Genesis was better back in the day when the SNES is far superior. I have both systems, the SNES has better sound athree times the color palette of the genesis and better graphics. There is no comparison SNES is better.

@Cyr0Gyr0 Apparently you've never taken the time to explore the Genesis library of games. First, Sonic 1-Knuckles are some of the top platforming games out there. You'll find that reviewers and gamers around the world disagree with what you said about the series. And there's no such thing as 3D-layering effect on the SNES, it's just one sprite overlapping another. The Genesis COULD compete and that's exactly what it did. At one time, Sega even had a bigger market share than Nintendo.

i know that you have had things like the super gameboy but still when sega came out for the original wireless controls for the genesis i knew that the super nintendo whas done.

@slavko123496 Wrong. Genesis started out ahead in the early 90s but when all was said and done the SNES is the top selling 16 bit system of all time. Every video game magazine and expert agrees SNES was a superior bit of hardware compared to the Genesis, while people like you don't know any better.
