  • Cool tip. What did you use to hollow out the stock and how much did it change the recoil on that old 12 gauge? I have an old 3 inch barrel brake over my self. Old but reliable.

  • i have a multi tool i piss and screw with it

  • "alot of people dont realize this, but you could put your weed in there"

  • @adanko wow then after you put your weed in there........ then i could take it out and smoke it............ DUMBASS STONER!!!

  • @MrStrongarms Its a joke from "The hot chick" clever boy.

  • there is a compartment in the back of the m-16 that holds your feild cleaning kit. came in handy in iraq. 15 year army vet.

  • There is another secret compartment you should try hide things in.....it's called your anus

  • great now if you go everywhere with that shotgun you will need a screw.. XD !

  • @scottyisgay1234567 duh dipshit if he gets lost or stuck some were and he has a gun he can make a fire :)

  • thats a lot of work just to get to it. make it toolless

  • why would u need to hide matches and saw dust? lmao

  • Crap i was gonna make a joke about forgetting my screw driver.

    very nice video, great idea.

  • Canadian Ehh?

  • Drug Smuggling at its finest!

  • You are great thanks it helped a lot thank you so much

  • Cheers, Glad I could help!! Ed

  • have you seen the compartment on the end of the old garands? Might work to get a butt plate from one of them, make it easier to get to.

  • No, I haven't. thanks for the tip! Cheers, ED

  • The buttstock compartment is nothing new, and in most cases they have an easy access trap door. However, the way you did it is not very practical. For one, you need a screw driver to get to it. Second, if you were injured or suffering hypothermia the last thing you want is to operate a screw driver. Lastly, you want to keep your survival kit on your person if possible and water proofed. If you fall and lose your gun in a river or off the side of a cliff you are in big trouble.

  • That's Your opinion, and I appreciate your cander. But, This technique, as you have said, is not new. Survivalists have done this sort of thing for decades. Why? Be cause it works. Ask Les Stroud about it. He does the same thing!! ED

  • No offense to Les Stroud or yourself, but he is an entertainer. Surviving in the bush with a satellite phone in your pack is much different than in real life. I do not doubt he has extensive survival knowledge, but requiring a tool to use a tool makes no logical sense whatsoever. Do you remember the heli-hiking episode when he misplaced the lens he was using to start a fire? Imagine that was your multi-tool but you never found it. I suppose you could smash it open with a rock

  • Great points, I always carry a multi-tool on my belt and after I'm done it goes back in my sheath. I have never misplaced it, EVER! likewise, I also should of mentioned in the video, that this should not be your only survival gear. like you said you should have it on your person and waterproofed. This is secondary survival gear. I'm not disagreeing with you totally, I think your are making a lot of sense. ED

  • Just, this is a tip to have extra kit on you. Thanks so much for your input because it is people like you that get people like me to think. I really appreciate it. ED

  • thats called a survival kit

  • I like secret compartments. Good point about carrying a Multi tool or pocket knife.

  • Very cool and very simple idea! It's important for people to see that it is the simple things that will save them in the woods... well done... keep sharing your knowlege! 5/5

  • Haha it's all good.

I just thought you looked a lot like him ;D

    Haha cheers,

  • carlos is from desperate housewives XD

    google him

  • rotflmao!! Just google it!! LOL nice one!!

Sorry for not getting it before. Ed

  • Wait, i thought carlos was blind?

Oh maybe this is before he went blind?

Hows he meant to aim when he cant see?

  • What? Whose carlos? I'm Lost?

  • ed grab one of those magnesium fire starters you know the block of magnesium with the flint down the other side you see in sporting good stores ..they kick ass..scrape off some magnesium shavings then scrape the flint into it ..white hot flame and totaly water proof..i keep one and a cheep swisarmy style knife in my backpack in the hidden pocket well inside so im never caught..its light too..my leathermans wander away lol also recomend the gerber one hand knife dont have to let go to open it.

  • Good tip

  • Make sure not to store your screwdriver in the secret compartment! lol

  • make sure those matches are separate from your tinder that could be one expensive mistake

  • You and I have done the same thing, I have a composit hollow stock for my 5.56mm and inside I have placed a flint and steel, char cloth, snare wire as well, water purification tabs needle and thread two packets of triple antibiotic, and fishing hooks and line. I have a larger compartment in rifle stock. Great getting this out there Ed! People need to know these things and everyone here on youtube is a teacher and a student. Well done!

  • Almost forgot to mention... the strap on my 5.56mm is made from paracord that has been braided. You never know when that might come in handy as well.

  • Now that is a great tip!! cheers, ED

  • Thanks so much for the kind words, Drak. I'm mostly a student, and Loving it. I learn continuouly from all you guys. I'm glad I can throw out a few ideas every now and then. ED

  • cool stuff man, NEVER leave home without the leaterman, right?.. 5*

  • 5*****

  • Good idea man never thought of that. would come in handy maybe on my next shotgun i'll do that thanks for sharing this man. 5 stars. ;) -Jonny

  • No problem, Glad I could help. Cheers, Ed

  • I like the idea. It reminds me of what I do with my AR-7. I keep a decent sized kit in it's stock. As I rarely break it all down to put the barrel and action into the stock(it's scoped), the hollow compartment is ideal. Your conversion of a wood stock into something similar is sweet! Peace.

  • Thanks Josh!! Ed

  • very well done thats actully really smart 5/5

    eric

  • It's come in handy a time or two. Especially when I left the lighter home. Always spare matches in the gun, LOL.

    Ed

  • Very clever!

    5/5

  • Thanks, wish I had originated the Idea. But, I glad I could share it.

  • hey ed great idea i got a air rifle with a synthetic stock which is completely hollow , i,ll have to try it out i,ll post a vid if i can , 5/5

    malc.

  • Definitely!! Thanks for the compliment.

    Cheers Malc, Ed

  • thats cool 5/5!!

  • Thanks, Appreciate it!!

  • That's really clever I once saw that on survivorman it could really save your life one day!!!

    Well done 5/5

  • Sure could. My Uncle taught me it years ago. He used to store his tobbacco in it. He always said if he was ever lost he'd better have a smoke!! lol (Not endorsing smoking YOUTUBE FLAGGERS) lol.

    Cheers, ED

  • Your Uncle must of been very smart but he kind of contradicts himself,If he ever got lost he'd have a smoke, but would that not reduce his chances of survival...LOL,unless he was to use it for signaling!!!lol

  • yeah known about this for ages. i did this week survival course and this old guy was telling us about it. he sorted his matches and snares there with some tinder items. just like you ed. he made the hole bigger too. with a hack saw blade.

  • Very Cool. Great little tip, hey!! Ed

  • nice one m8 good video

    -ben-

  • Thanks very much ben. Glad you liked it!!

    Cheers Mate, Ed

  • Real nice video 5*.

A couple T-nuts glued into the screw holes prevent those wood screws from striping out. If you want to use that secret compartment a little more often when your out in the field.

The pistol grip cap on some rifles and shotguns are also screwed on with smaller wood screws. So could make two secret compartments if you wanted two.

  • Awesome, thanks for the info and support. and Great tip. Cheers,Ed

  • i like it, 5/5

  • Thanks, I appreciate it !

  • I do that too!!! But I wright passwords and stuff on mine lol!

  • Cool!!

  • That was great Ed, i'm going to sent this to all my subscirbers.

When i get time i will definetly do that,

Thanks for the mention too. 5/5

    Mike.
