I think that John Kerry was probably discussing the stimulus bill. In this case he is right. Money that is used to fund projects will be spent and will help resuscitate the economy. Money that is used to fund tax cuts will possibly not be invested in which case it will not help out the economy. The stimulous bill is a responce to an emergency. If the money isn't spent, the stimulus bill is essentially pointless. This video is a weak attempt to discredit John Kerry.

Government has to take from the productive to create less productive jobs. When you take from the productive, the productive have to cut back. So to create a government stimulated make-work job you have to destroy a productive job.
I don't think that's completely true. But to look back historically, it was President Truman's 'wait and see' policy that prolonged the Great Depression and it was huge investment from President Roosevelt and new government funded construction jobs which helped drag America out of depression.

I think that John Kerry was probably discussing the stimulus bill. In this case he is right. Money that is used to fund projects will be spent and will help resuscitate the economy. Money that is used to fund tax cuts will possibly not be invested in which case it will not help out the economy. The stimulous bill is a responce to an emergency. If the money isn't spent, the stimulus bill is essentially pointless. This video is a weak attempt to discredit John Kerry.

2.Indexed the corporate tax brackets to inflation so that a corporation that only makes $200,000 isnt paying a fourth of it in income tax.
3.Indexed capital gains to inflation so that people arent being taxed on imaginary gains.

Did the Sociology class explain why this is so? Every other statistic out there, including others in this series of comments, show that the share of tax paid by the top 1% is enormous compared to the rest of taxpayers.
Maybe the 2,500 number is made up of mostly rich liberal politicians who think they don't have to pay taxes.
Plus, it's liberals like Kerry who wrote this socially-engineered, convoluted tax code.... under a flat tax you wouldn't have 200k folks paying zero taxes.

Our Congress caused this mess by beating up on the regulators to give loans to poor people. Congress thought this would then result in getting more votes from the poor. Now the people who caused this are seen out front crusading for change...I'm disgusted. I'll never again vote for the incumbent. Favoritism is the only use of power. You got to believe that the lobbyists wrote the bailout laws.

I think Sen Jim DeMint needs to realise that KERRY IS RIGHT. It's not about trust, people spend their money with a different goal. GOVERNMENT can focus spending to stimulate the economy. Government also has EXPERTS.

Okay then, this economic downfall hits and do businesses make more jobs? No, they get rid of them. Can the government make more jobs? YES. You need more people with jobs so that more money flows, banks feel safe to lend again and lo and behold, the economy is back in business. Its called 'economics'.

Government has to take from the productive to create less productive jobs. When you take from the productive, the productive have to cut back. So to create a government stimulated make-work job you have to destroy a productive job.

I don't think that's completely true. But to look back historically, it was President Truman's 'wait and see' policy that prolonged the Great Depression and it was huge investment from President Roosevelt and new government funded construction jobs which helped drag America out of depression.

President Truman? I think you have your presidents mixed up. Also the great depression lasted until WW2 started for us in 1941. That is what got us out of the depression, not Roosevelt policies
