  • really great

  • Simply fantastic!

  • finally an Irish singer on you tube. i love your voice

  • You have a very good voice for this song in particular. The exact right amount of seething determination mixed with a soothing bass.

Also, you bypassed the syllable problem in verse 3 remarkably.

    Good job, five stars.

  • Wonderful! I love your voice.

  • Fantastic! Yours is one of the best versions I've ever heard.

  • Fine! Job! as good as it gets. Thanks.

  • Remembering Ireland and yourself with this song on this Easter night. Hope all is well with you, young man. Erin go bragh.

  • Nice to hear someone singing this and it doesn't sound like they are screaming! Nice version.

  • Nice to see someone singing all the verses, thanks. In the original, the verse about wild geese comes third - it makes more sense that way. Best of luck to you ~

  • Well done!

  • Beautifully sang!

    Beautiful song!

  • I would like to thank everyone for keeping thepolitics and hatred out of this video, and I hope everyone that posts in the future will continue to post solely on the quality of music.

like the wee upward trill you do with your voice a lot during this song...on certain words.

    cool man

  • so beautiful and yet so sad onommateopea

  • I'm back and one word , Excellent thank you

  • OK haven't listen yet , strange post : ), just setting my expectations first, well here goes be back soon : ) looking forward to listening

  • This is the second video of yours I have listened to.......

You have a ardent fan,Sir......Such a beautiful voice and gentle timber.

regardless of the words your delivery is without exception and without peer.

Such a magnificent talent you have....and I love the sweet Irish accent. I hear much emotion in this one. How very Blessed you are.....m.

  • how about we try and keep the polotics out of it, yes I know the song does have some political overtones, but ya know what, how many half way decent songs can you find that don't? if you want to argue go somewhere else, I would love to see this video kept to just the quality of the music, not about the friggen politics, so sit down shut up and enjoy some great music.

  • Beautiful Voice ;)

  • *constructive criticism* perhaps a bit faster, more as if you were telling a story, not quite so drawn out, and some of the lyrics could stand to be swapped with the lyrics of more common versions of the song, it flows a bit better then, but especially the last bit, just pick it up a bit, don't take this the wrong way man, you did a truly wonderfu ljob, it's just some areas could use some improvement, but definitely one of the best renditions I've heard.

  • Dude! You got Irish written all over your forehead! That song is the best I have heard yet. I am trying to mimic your style...far from being as good as you, though. My voice is a bit lower, so I have to improvise. I read the lyrics and cried as I was trying to sing it, so hopefully I can get the emotion right! God Bless!

  • beatiful man beautiful, it's good to hear someone that sings such a wonderful song with the emotion it was meant to be sung with, something you don't see much anymore, and thank you for your service.

  • what a lovely voice you have. such emotion.

thank you for your service and i am glad you're home safe.

  • feckin great job...agreed daveh0480 damos version is legendry

  • Great job mate. Check out Damian Dempseys album version, itl blow you away......

  • I have added the lyrics and chords I used to the video info.

  • man your voice is really good... i hope your home safe... its making me cry that you can sing a song like that with so much beauty and be one of americas sons with the long range guns... a depressing irony that you were fighting "those fearless men, but few,

Who bore the fight that freedom's light might shine through the foggy dew"... crying...

  • You've got to be kidding. Give the guy a break. Good job lambicpen. And from one veteran to another keep your head up and know that we all love you guys. Be safe.

  • Well written - love the boy's voice and also wished him safe at home. I'm from Canada and who knows what my country is doing ...? I am guessing this boy has no more contol on world policy than have I ...

Much enjoyed your so rational comment ...

    Mary Redmond

  • well written?? this is a traditional Irish song and was not written by a young guy, with angst, from America. Get Real. Geez.

  • Up the long ladder and down the short rope

To hell with King Billy and God bless the Pope

And if that don't do, we'll tear 'em in two

And send 'em to hell in their red, white, and blue.

and I believe it said Britannia's sons...remember those six counties? You know, the ones that are STILL British.

  • i was commenting on the similarity in imperial ambition between britain and the usa...

    thought that would be obvious...

are you a Northern. Irish. Patriot. Perpetually. Living. in Exile. (N.I.P.P.L.E)?

    or are you actually irish?

  • County Cork and damn proud.

  • fair play...

  • oh and by the way i do remember those six counties that are STILL british cos my dad is from ardoyne. i was commenting on this guy singing this song then going to iraq. the brits have no business being in ireland and no business being in iraq.

  • I would really like to visit Derry and Belfast and the rest of the north someday. My Irish experience is still limited to the Shannon airport...

  • keep it going boy, youre brilliant!

  • good one

  • Nice Voice,,

    you're very good in singing:D (A)

  • what a voice!!!

    bravo!

  • Very good indeed. Good work.

    You've got a great voice.

  • U r amazing mate...so good...but i've found the lyr without some pieces u sing -.- i search all the singers wich sang this song...but no all the lyr available...can u send me it in a message?? and if u can the Crds too tnx a lot

  • Free Ireland!

  • hey , I know this song from Alan Stivel.

    You sing it really awesome

  • good job!

  • This made me shiver! You sang/played it awesome. Thanks for sharing.

  • Excellent, well done

  • Simply gorgeous.

  • Lovely! You have a really nice voice!

  • Nicely done. Only suggestion is that you be a little more free with the timing. Try reading the lyric as if you were narrating a story, and see how the words feel that way.

    Fine voice, by the way.

    -jcr

  • Thanks for the suggestion!

  • BTW, if you're taking requests, I think that your voice would go very nicely with "Westlin Winds". Dick Gaughan and Garnet Rogers have both recorded very fine versions of it that shouldn't be hard to find.

Also, do you know "The West's Awake"?

    -jcr

  • I don't have the words to describe...amazing!!

  • fuck your good up the

  • Nice job, nice voice, I like Lukes version the best..

  • great voice well played to! 5 stars

  • very very good my friend. may God look over you in your time in Iraq.

    Go Raibh Maith Agat

    (Thank you)

  • It's Britania's Huns not Britania's sons.

  • yeah, you're right; I think the version I was basing it off of said "sons," but "huns" is certainly more appropriate when one considers the time period and all that

  • Good job ;)

  • I don't think it was sung too sad or slow, it's a sombre song and sounds really well like that. My favourite version is (oddly since I'm a big dubliners/tones fan) sinead o'connor's with the chieftans. She sings it with similar sobriety, but more emotional power.

  • Good voice and guitar, the rendition sounds a bit too sad, though. Put a bit more strength into it!

  • You are good dude, keep up the good work

  • Loved it. Your voice is something special.

  • Very good. You sing wonderfully. And your guitar skills aren't lacking, either!

Nice. Don't be nervous of posting more. :)

  • very good lad

  • Great job dude

  • Fucking amazing mate, hair standing up on the back of me neck. What chords did you use for that?

  • Am/G/C/Am/G/C/Am/C/G/C/Am/G/C/Am, repeat for all verses. I found it on the Internet, so someone else may have better chords.

  • Awesome!!!! I love this song!!! Its one of the prettiest ones. I play it on my tin whistle all the time. Bravo.

  • nice

  • Sorry to report but the God Father of Irish music Tommy Makem has passed away

  • Don't give up ya day job boy!

Only joking, good effort but you're no Luke Kelly Kid.

  • It's just as well. They won't let me quit my day job until I complete my enlistment... :)

  • lol but you should begin recored outher songs if this one was any hint you are very good

  • that was brilliant, fair play

  • Brilliant!

    Great song, great voice.

In some parts of the song you sounded like a male version of Sinead O'Connor.

    Beautiful!

  • pretty good as well mate

  • Sensational!!!!!!!!!!

  • class !! keep em coming

  • good effort lad

  • Great job on Foggy Dew! It's a great song and you do it proud.

  • one of my favorite songs!you have a lovely voice too!;)

  • Fantastic! And you've included all the verses ppl often say are missing from this great song

  • Star material, mate! Keep at it!
