Fuck AMerican hi-drek equipment. Israel today produces better stuff, but the only reason why the US gives Israel those arms is to be able to sell twice as much to the Saudis, the UAE and other Arab countries at full profit to make up for it. If the US cuts off Israel, it will have to cut off Egypt, the Palestinians, Saudi Arabia and the rest. If not, then Israel is free to sell its own high tech to China, Russia and anyone with cash too. It'll make up the $3 B shortfall in no time.

AIPAC and the ARab lobby should BOTH stop askng the US aid for Israel, EGypt, the Palestinians, Jordan and stop arms sales to both sides. The US sells or gives $7-$8 billion in arms in the ME annually. About $2-$3B goes to Israel. The rest, or some $5 billion goes to the Arabs, Israel's adversaries. As for the Liberty, Israel paid the families compensation many decades ago, but will not apologize for the US having a spy ship spying on Israeli troops being accidentally attacked in a combat zone.

There is not treaty of alliance between the US and israel, so the "alliance" is a US myth. The US has treaties with German and Japan, but not Israel.

I've seen documentaries where the Israeli pilots were choked up with grief for what they were made to do by their command. Anyhow, Pollard is spending his 24th year in prison, the longest for any spy for a friendly country. I don't think so, because I do not believe Israel attacked a US ship on purpose while fighting Soviet-backed Arab armies surrounding it. And Israel turned over VAST amounts of Soviet materiel and knowledge to the CIA, which was a major reason why the US cozied up to Israel after the '67 war while it was in the Vietnam war.

First of all, the US in 1967 did not make good its written promise made by Dulles to Eban after the 1957 war, to lead a flotilla to open any future Egyptian blockade of the Straits of Tiran. When Nasser again blockaded the straits, Eban flew to Washington to see if the US would make good on its written promise, and was given the runaround, and finally bluntly told that if Israel shot the first shot, it was on its own. No flotilla was forthcoming. The US had betrayed Israel.

The Jews beat the Arabs without any US help in 1948, '56 and '67. Israel does not need the US to defend itself. The US came to Israel after Israel kicked the shit out of the Soviet backed Arabs in '67 during the Vietnam war to get Israel to become an "asset" in the Cold War as the Russians began penetrating the ME. The US entangled itself with all kinds of alliances after WWII: NATO, SEATO, ANZUS, and on and on. These countries chose NOT to develop nuclear weapons because they rely on the US nuclear umbrella to protect them. First of all, the US is not the only reason why Israel is on the map now, and second the US has never explained why that premiere NSA spy ship was spying on Israel troops at war. If they are allies, they should have been spying on the Egyptians and sending Israel intel, instead of the other way around.
