Even though I'm sure Diablo 3 will be a great game, Torchlight 2 is going to give people so much more freedom to have fun and be creative. They don't care how big your wallet is, and yet they're still delivering such an amazing looking product. I can't wait to get my hands on this game!!

The thing I'm looking forward to the most in Torchlight 2 (besides multiplayer) is the music. Although the story in the first game was very sketchy - the music totally made up for it. Listening to Matt Uelmen's pieces while roaming the dungeons, I almost felt like a child again, a child who's reading fairy tales.

Really enjoyed Torchlight and Torchilght 2 is one of my top anticipated games this year. For the same price we get an even bigger and better game which to me tells me just how awesome of a team RunicGames is, if you're an ARPG gamer this game is a no brainer.

The thing I like about torchlight is just how fluid, precise and rewarding the combat is. I also just love the style, setting and music of it.

Yeah I think Torchlight is better than Diablo.

I've been a fan of Runic Games since they were Flagship Studios Seattle back in 2007. The one thing that kept me as a fan is their personality and it shows in Torchlight and Torchlight 2. Best thing about TL is the moddibility, how can you hate a game that will allow you to essentially mod it so you can have a game with 100+ players essentially allowing us to compete with their future MMO with their own game.

Better than Diablo, certainly in many aspects.

I love that Torchlight will continue to support their modding community. Modding helps to increase the games life span. The addition of multiplayer in Torchlight 2 is a plus as well. But, I'm most excited about what the new pets will be. Runic makes me more curious by keeping quiet about it. I like Torchlight more than Diablo for the mere fact that Runic seems to listen to their fans. Diablo 3 lacks this, thus their lack of modding and having to always be online to play.

Co-op can't happen soon enough, it was the one thing missing from the first Torchlight. My favorite thing about the first may have been the pets. Or maybe the random dungeons. I *love* games w/ random dungeons!

The obvious answer is that Torchlight 2 doesn't require an always-on internet connection. But there are so many answers, besides. I love the art style, and the gameplay itself. Torchlight may have sprung from Diablo, but it's definitely its own game. Love it!

This game parallels Diablo 2 in a few ways. The heroes from the first game are NPCs in the squeal. First game involves saving the world while dungeoneering under some dumpy little town, and the squeal takes you to varied locals. Have you guys noticed any more?

I loved Diablo and D2 -- I still play the latter occasionally -- but I'm not a very social gamer; I tend to prefer single-player stuff. So the news about D3 was pretty disappointing for me. But it looks like Torchlight 2 is gonna save the day! Of course I haven't checked out Torchlight 1 yet, so I guess I could skip the wait and go get my fix right now...

Definitely looking forward to this one. What I like about Torchlight is that it's a focused gaming experience from a small team that helped create Diablo in the first place. Runic seems to be true to that focus, while Blizzard's becoming more and more caught up in side-stories like Battle.net integration and real-money auction houses.

I have no idea if Torchlight 2 is going to be better than Diablo 3, but I'm definitely interested in any game from a team like Runic.

Torchlight definitely had a lot of smart usability features Diablo lacked (thank you pets for selling my loot), but even with Steam sales I couldn't justify picking up another game in the genre when I already have three I've barely touched. That said, with things like official mod tools and the new multi-player options, Torchlight II may just make itself hard to pass up.

I haven't played Torchlight, but I certainly liked Diablo II. Never managed to beat it by myself, and multiplayer was a no-go with dial-up. I was getting pretty pumped with Diablo III on the horizon, but I'm thinking my money might be better spent buying THREE copies of Torchlight 2 for the same price. LAN party? I hope so.

Torchlight is one of the best isometric hack and slash rpgs I've played. Does it stack up against Diablo? That's not really fair. Too early to say how awesome Diablo 3 will be, and previous entries are almost too old to make fair comparisons. I did like the skill trees better in Diablo 2 than Torchlight. For pure aesthetic value, I would have to favor Torchlight. That may change when I get my hands on Diablo 3.

Of course the biggest factor is multiplayer. D1 and D2 win, until TL2's is tested.

@gabrielk310 Runic wanted to build the franchise up from scratch and work towards an MMO, so they released a single-player game that was made in 11 months. Then they decided to add an additional step while still inevitably moving towards the Torchlight MMO, and that's a multiplayer-enabled sequel. As long as the games are $20, I don't really mind the incremental releases. --Sebastian
