I just enrolled in HVACR Technician school in Florida. I look forward to learning from you & appreciate all HVAC videos posted. Thank you, Godbless, Ariel.
Great videos. I love finding tools that make my life easier. I use a milliameter for finding low voltage shorts but I like the one you demonstrated. Also like the idea of the camera through the limit switch hole idea. If I could have back the hours I've spent taking evap coils out to inspect them I'd be a happy man. The best bit I have for sheet metal holes is a uni-bit made by Lenox. Mine goes from 1/4" up to 1-3/8' and it goes in 1/8" increments. It's expensive but a good investment.
dont buy a testo camera. first one lasted 3 months, the replacement lasted just over a year. that testo camera i have was a $250 waste. every one at the shop gets mad at me cause i shell out the money for tools to make my life easy.
i dont know. its working off and on now. the reason i bought it was it has a smaller camera compared to some of the others. rigid at the time was $300.
Good video! Cool toys! How much did the camera cost? I like it. Are there different models? Is the picture pretty clear in the dark and can it be magnified?
I think the snake camera was 230ish? A few different models and a few other companies make them. There is a (much) higher dollar ver. that does take pics. Has built in leds on the end of the snake. No way to focus it (fixed focus) so clear is realitive to your position :>
MIKIE i got the same camera, i bought it two years ago. it works great! the only thing is that i had to replace the whip. just be careful, the tip where the camera is breaks very easily. try not to twist or hold where the camera is. it cost me fifty bucks to replace it.
Owie! Well I was wondering about that. I figure that eventually I'll scuff up the tip enough that I'll have to replace it. At least now I know the cost :)
Need to check out the website, know they make a lot of intersting stuff :) Thought about some of the system checker stuff but not sure how often I would use them..
I'm a student in a HVAC course here in Sumter SC. and do you have any ideas as to upon graduation and the start of job hunting in this field as to.....what to look for in a potental HVAC co. to work for ....as to what to look for as to the weather the company is fly-by-night or really cares as to their techs. doing quality work.
Great video .I am a TV tech and years ago on the older style sets when we had a short we would clip in a light bulb at the fuse holder,it would do kind of the same thing. Keep up the great work.
just wanted to say i really like your videos i would post more if i could figure out my old digital camera lol. I am 28 and thinking about going back to school for hvac i allready know a lot about it but i need more training. but yea i like yours and dr. z's videos really well keep up the good work and message back thanks a lot
Resetable fuse I don't remember, not much. The short finder was 20 I think. Camera I overpaid, prolly 230ish. Someone told me you can get it cheaper at lowes/home depot. Or a version witout video out port for less. they have a ver. that will record to a memory stick, wanted 800 at the HVAC shop!! NUTS!!

i found doing a high intensity test works pretty good for finding shorts, no special tools need just a multimeter

I have one too great for inspecting duct work like dryers.
Also ESP has a 3 and 5 amp fuse breaker called Li'l Popper for $10 or so at jonstons. thanks

Yep, I cruised it, but at 50 years old in 8 days and 30 years hvac in Aug., not much use is dropping big bucks now, LOL.
Have some, would like others, but not at the cost needed.
A lot of small quickie stuff like the things you showed though that are good to have or for a backup if needed.
