They don't make movies this good anymore. The story and acting was as close to perfect as you can get. This is one of the best movies that most people don't know about. They're missing out. Great job on this video!
@95hennings I could not agree with you more and i thought back then the jjeff bridges had a great acting ability waiting to explode he is a a great character actor .Clint and Jeff theeeeee best 4 sure and NOT TO FORGET BIG BAD GEORGE AND THE MERCURY CAR WHEN HE SAID GEE RON EEMO...:)
This film is one of my all time favourites and, others have said, a film that can watched over and over again, except of course, seeing how young both Jeff Bridges and Clint Eastwood are in this reminds me of how much time has passed since I first saw it. :-)
Love the movie, LOVE the song, thank you for putting them together. 8-)
Ironically I (and I'm sure others do as well) often associate this song with Jeff Bridges as it was the main theme song used in the movie 'Hard Driver' (also known as the 'The Last American Hero') which also starred Jeff.
@LS1LT1 thanks to all for your great comments. I had a chance to see The Last American Hero on the big screen a couple of summers ago when my local theater had a series dedicated to 70's drive-in type movies..Vanishing Point, Dirty Mary Crazy Larry and Duel were a few they showed..no Tunderbolt and Lightfoot though. I would absolutely love to see it on the big screen in 35mm someday.
I ran projectors at the Campbellsville Drive in back in the 70's. I ran this movie one weekend and when the cars were leaving they all spun tires in the gravel and out on the black top. It always happened with movies like this. Good work great clip.
@skyking1961 thank you so much spyking1961, one of my earliest memories is of waking up in the back of the family station wagon at age 3 and seeing 'Thunderbolt and Lightfoot' on the drive in screen. I watched a few minutes of it, and I remember it was the scene when Jeff Bridges is posing as a woman.
Thanks for this tribute. Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is my favorite Eastwood film and I feel it is very underappreciated and to me, this is arguably the BEST "buddy" film EVER.
Great tribute! Definitely one of my favorites as well -- the four leads were superb, Cimino's direction was flawless, the screenplay deftly combined the comedy and action/suspense genres, and the whole flick perfectly caught the *weirdness* of Seventies America. Major props to all involved, and to TangledWebFilms!
Anyone who loves clint eastwood needs to see dirty harry and anyone who loves jeff bridges needs to see The Big Lebowski...my favorite movie of all time :)
I love ALL of Clint's films, but this has always been my favorite. Great comedy, acting, and action scenes. Besides Eiger Sanction this is by far the least talked about movie of his from the 70's and I've always wondered why. Some people believe Clint shunned this movie after Bridges received Academy Award consideration and he did not. That would certainly make sense because around this time, Clint was not considered to be the nicest person in showbiz.
I just watched this film last night- you have done a great job with the editing and excellent choice of song, my teenage son even enjoyed it- and that's saying something!
Michael Cimino's first film as a director in 1974 was a classic. Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges were a great team. The ending was sad when Bridges' character dies from getting kicked in the head.
This is my favorite Eastwood movie too, it's was a close call between this movie & The Good, The Bad & the Ugly. But their is a sort of magic to this movie that i can't let go of.
one of clint best movie

I liked it when Jeff Bridges dressed up like a woman. He makes a handsome man and a pretty lady. Thats talent.
