  • Most of these "issues" seem to be console specific. You can for example map up to 8 abilities on the PC, and you can move each squad member individually.

  • 0:22 bahahahahaha!

  • I wish I had a Xbox 360 for this game :(

  • @1ZAMMIT

you do know Mass Effect exists for PC as well right?

  • I cant stand the art direction for this game. It just looks so dumb. The aliens an the enviroment is just so bleh!

  • @RevanGabriel Elaborate on your opinion. What exactly is it that you find dumb and "bleh"?

  • @Zoran54321 I find the art direction for this game dumb and bleh. The gameplay and story are alright, but I just dont like the whole feel and look of the game.

  • @RevanGabriel Must not be a big fan of sci-fi then because as far as art direction goes in any sci-fi Mass Effect is up there with the best of them

  • @watchinginaz No, Im a Sci Fi fan.

  • @RevanGabriel nobody gives a shit about your ''opinion'', go back to your COD, you fucktard.

  • @vinchisters Then why did 2 people ask me about it? Your either very young and stupid or just a troll.

  • @vinchisters Dude, everyone has the right to an opinion. He didn't like the game, fine. Now quit being a douche.

  • This is what I do while waiting for it to download :(

  • @Xero293 Hey! I'm not alone, lol. 63% done. Can't wait to play it.

  • @Anzaldua3012 It finished last night and I currently have 15 hours of gameplay

  • Ugh...IGN DO NOT COMPARE IT TO KOTOR....as lovely as KOTOR was, this is a completely different game, differen lore, universe, gameplay and rpg elements, sure its the same developer but does that mean you compare battlefield to Mirrors edge?

  • i thought that was jason segel talking

  • You really should point out that practically all the problems you mention are only issues on the console versions.

  • I've finally given in and bought this game for 360. I was just going to use Genesis to get the choices onto ME2, but it just doesn't feel the same. So, I'll play this, import to ME2, play that, then onto ME3.

  • Wow....looks like shit on consoles..

  • Why would you play ME on xbox. I finished it on Xbox and PC and I have to say the PC version plays ALOT better. YOu go from one hotkey to eight. The framerate issue to longer exists. and the interface in general is just better.

  • @LvsKira25 Maybe because not everyone prefers playing on PC? Kind of an Oxymoron question.

  • would it be worth it to just get this game on ps3 cause it comes with the ME 1 synopsis?

  • @chriskrazy8 If you have an Xbox 360, I would advise you get The first Mass Effect (Trust me the game will feel like on big party where you don't know anyone if you havn't played it)...

But if you don't have an Xbox, then, that's basically you're only option.

    Enjoy :)

  • I'm buying this game on eBay for the 360, I have to finish this and ME2 before ME3 comes out. And I just bought Skyrim, going to have a busy January.

  • @NustKein id play 1 and 2 more then once

  • I suggest to not modify ur character the story will not develop properly

  • @XJackLawd7

    You're not making any sense...

The player chooses their characters background/history as well as the class. The story adjusts itself to your characters history and reputation after you decide who you're going to be and will continue to adjust throughout your game play experience depending on what decisions you make.

  • @Cayden1986 I know but at the start you can choose to modify your shepard like scars hair etc but if you do that in my opinion the story will not have a great impact on you

  • @XJackLawd7

It doesn't matter. The game is a personal narrative slash action role playing game. The player can choose to stick with the default stock look, or personalize their character the way they want him to look. That character then passes through all Mass Effect games with the very same look.

I fail to see how personalizing the characters countenance impacts the relationship of players connection to the game. How the player wants to experience the game is through their choices alone.

  • bought ME 1 and 2 off steam. MUST GET BOTH!!

  • well that's good because turn based combat sucks and is boring as hell

  • Just when i promised myself that i wouldn't buy anymore games Steam comes out with a deal to get this for £2.50 and the sequel for £5.00!

I used to have them on xbox untill i sold it but i remember that the mass effect games were 2 of the best single player games i ever played.

  • @Doominator99 I wish I bought it then, I just didn't want to spend more money... What a mistake.

  • @AlmostAGamer dont worry. The mass effect games will almost defiantly be on sale again on steam in the weeks before mass effect 3 comes out ;)

  • Just bought it of steam for like £2.50 Bargain!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic are the greatest games ever!!!

  • Check out my channel and subscribe for game related stuff :)

  • Hey could anyone tell me which class is the most fun/easiest to play?

  • @bobx9000 Vanguard

  • @bobx9000 Sentinel is the most fun, Soldier is the easiest.

  • @bobx9000 Soldier, no doubt. Straight up gunplay, most capable in combat.

  • I love the combination of shooter combat with RPG elements. Bioshock was the best single player game i ever played. Haven't played this. But I'm starting to think i should. get it on amazon for cheap.

  • @lxsosna This is a Traditional Rpg with Shooter Elements SIGH

  • @lxsosna Mass Effect is an RPG with shooter elements!... If you're in for a shooter, you'll be strongly dissapointed because the game focuses on story and talking, Which is EPIC may I add...

But when you do get start combat It becomes fantastic!

Another thing is the game won't leave a good first impression on you... You'll have to give it time, to truly get into it.

  • Mass effect is an amazing series that IMO has a story that rivals Star Wars with great gameplay (the 1st is more RPG less combat and the 2nd is more combat less RPG) but both are worth buying. As for Dragon Age... the story is great and the replay value is huge, but it felt kind of lacking for me, you'll probably enjoy it but it feels kind of cheap with the graphics and gameplay (especially the second because it was rushed by EA.) even though the overall franchise is very well done.

  • @keyonipotts I agree, after playing so much Mass Effect, Dragon Age Origins characters and story just felt so much weaker compared to Mass Effect. Infact the characters kinda annoyed me in Dragon age... Wait! Now that I think about it, I hated all of them! Mass Effects universe was much more interesting. Dragon Age was a typical deep fantasy roleplaying game... (That I still enjoyed)

  • Bioware seems to make some good games, so I want to ask a question for everyone here: How good are Bioware's other games, such as Jade Empire, Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur's Gate, and Neverwinter Nights? Also, how anticipated is Star Wars: The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3?

  • @HombreHonest jade empire is good..some people loved the hell out of it..some didnt because it was more action

kotor is absolutely amazing,i think kotor 1 is as awesome as mass effect 1 in my opinion

baldur's gate is good..its nothing special but its still worth a play

    and neverwinter nights is epic

the old republic is incredibly hyped because its like mass effect + kotor but MMO!

fucking awesome and mass effect 3 is my most hyped up game since me2 is my favorite game of all time

  • @HombreHonest Baldurs Gate 2 is the best PC RPG I have ever played. It is so dense and there is so much to explore. One of the best WRPG's ever made.

  • Is the Mass Effect series good? From what I've seen of this review and of the second game, it looks pretty good. Also, how good is Bioware's other series, Dragon Age? If anyone can reply, thank you for your kindness. :)

  • @HombreHonest both MA and DA are great games, worth buying if interested, they merge RPG and FPS like no other series

  • @12connor213 Well they have a demo of Mass Effect 2 on Steam which I am currently downloading, so I'll see for myself if Mass Effect 2, it's prequel, and the Dragon Age series are worth buying. :)

  • @12connor213 I hope this doesn't bother you, but I tried the Mass Effect 2 demo, but I couldn't really play it because I don't have a good graphic card (or whatever it is) to have a smooth framerate(same problem with all my other PC games) My friends dad is searching for one, but do you have any advice of a good graphic card to have a smooth framerate. If so, thank you for your help. :)

  • @HombreHonest sorry man i played it on the 360, i don't really play games on my pc

  • @12connor213 Oh well. I'm sure I'll recieve some information about it soon. But thanks for telling me about the series. :)

  • i love how u can land on so many generic but still awesome planets

  • @alexjxcx Yeah, I never found it boring for some reason, just because I liked the mystery each planet held ;)

  • @Splashy151 and how every planet had a small bio was an amazing touch- i only read a handful but still it was awesome

  • Bought both mass effect 1 and 2 during autumn steam sale for $10 total. To think that I spent more than 6 times that on Black Ops... what a shame.

  • Mass effect is one of the best games I've ever played.

  • £2 on steam fucking bargain

  • Such a great game.

  • So,I enjoyed Dragon Age Origins, should I play this game?I'm kind of an action RPG guy and not really that in into shooters..is the story good?Or could you recommend me other games like DAO?

  • @HIM666dark6light In my opinion I love this game,I personally think the story is excellent and would reccomend it

  • @HIM666dark6light Yeah, except this game is more of an RPG with Action, It's not as deep as DAO, and it's alot shorter (40 Hours)... But it's fantastic... I will warn you their can be some mindless wandering around but its worth it... also the game is only 10 bucks definately give it a shot!... :)

Also, make sure you leave some room to remember that this game came out in 2007, so you won't be getting a skyrim or Witcher 2, but for the standards of 07, it's amazing! Pick it up, and enjoy :)

  • @HIM666dark6light the story is amazing..the shooting is really good!!

    i suggest get it

  • @TheGrizzlyReaper78 I'm gonna get an xbox soon but no live, so i was thinking of this specifically..looks kick ass with a good story

  • pornstar mustach character

  • Oh God, I just love playing this game sooo much...

  • I'm done with this argument.

  • To Splashy151

I'm sorry that things didn't work out for you so well when you decided to go and impose your authority on someone for not liking the same music, art, film or game... :/ :\

  • @Redflowers9 Most of your reply was correct, dude, so i'll just apologize; "sorry"... and bye!

  • Inboxed*

  • Redflowers9 I already inbox, and I'm done fighting with an arrogent asshole!

Do not reply! to my comments anymore!

  • FLAME WAR

  • Just play the PC version if you're having lag problems

  • i thought id love this game since it has such awesome reviews but then i read "RPG" >:( i hate rpgs, i played to much world of warcraft xD

  • What song in back ground

  • Funny enough the first time I played this on my 360 I had absolutely no technical issues I came back to do another playthrough for mass effect and it was absolutely plaguesd by them.

  • Bethesda or BioWare?

  • @ZakX11 bioware for more sci-fi things and bethesda for fantasy

  • is this game not on ps3? cause ive only seen the sequels on it

  • @TitanOfOblivion i dont think it is, been looking for it myself :( wanna play 1 b4 i buy 2.

  • @TitanOfOblivion No, the game was originally made only for the Xbox 360 but after Mass Effect 2 came out, Bioware wanted to bring it on to the PS3. Now Mass Effect 2 and 3 (when it comes out) are on the Xbox 360 and PS3 but unfortunately Microsoft owns the right for Mass Effect 1 to be exclusive to their console.

  • @TitanOfOblivion nah microcock owns the rights to ME1 so it only appeared on the 360 and PC, even then only the 360 version got the collector's edition.

    sad face

    :,(

though EA owns ME and possibly bioware now, so ME2 eventually made it's way to PS3, though there is no collector's edition for PS3. HOWEVER the PS3 version comes with a free (if u get the game new) code to download some stuff including a interactive digital comic book containing all 6 major choices in ME1

  • I was persuaded to get this game by this guy who was saying how amazing it was and I also heard stuff from other people but I'm gonna come clean... I thought it sucked and to really get into it I had to use a lot of my time which didn't necessarily make the game amazing then either.... I'm not an RPG fan but I just wanted freedom to explore and have new stuff but it always seemed to have an obvious set of boundaries, a lot of dry walking around and confusing tasks. Not trolling, just saying.

  • @Redflowers9 Your comment made me angry! Dude, this an "RPG" not an Open world exploration game. If you want that, then go play Bethesdas game! This is a story based Game, that requires you to play through a huge chunk of the game till you can actually have alot of fun with the combat!

It's not "Dry Walking around" It's getting to the next objective to see more of the story. If you did not like "RPGS's" Then why did you bother, this game is almost the definition of a "Role-Playing Game"...

  • @Splashy151 I know what rpgs are, I've played them and I've been okay with them. I'm just a dude who bought a game cuz I heard it was good. It didn't feel like it was going anywhere for me no matter how much time I put in and that's what sucked whether it's meant to be like that or not. I'm entitled to my own opinion for whatever reason and if you're going to get angry at me for being me and liking what I like then you need to grow up.

  • @Redflowers9 So one of the greatest stories in Video Game history, is "going Nowhere", Dude I put in around 60 hours into the game I found a fantastic story, and Combat that became fantastic as I level'd up.

Not to mention you said in your previous comment, that you're not a fan of "RPG's"... Now you're changing your story saying your ok with them; Plus you never answered my question question in the first place; "Why did you pick up this game when you're not a fan of RPG's?"

  • @Splashy151 Why do you think I give a shit what you and a load of others thought of the game? I'm allowed to have my own opinion and I'm sorry it doesn't fit in with your fucking ideals.

No, you changed my story with the assumption that you either hate something or you like it. I thought they where okay does not mean I am a fan of them or I would be looking to get next thing coming. They where certainly okay in comparison to mass effect.

People have different tastes, DEAL WITH IT!

  • @Redflowers9 How the fuck did I change your story with assumptions! you Said yourself that; "I thought it sucked". Why wouldn't I get mad at that? I'm allowed to reply to a comment all I like, that's the point of youtube comments, there's this button called "a reply" button and a "like/dislike button". This is how the youtube community works!

And I wasn't trying to explain to you what I thought of the game! I was using my playthrough as an example for your opinion of "dry walking around"

  • @Splashy151 Yeah, "I thought it sucked" doesn't mean I think that all RPG's suck which was what you where trying to desperately squeeze out of me just to answer this question: "Why did you pick up this game when you're not a fan of RPG's?" because I don't think they suck!!! I just think they're okay but I thought this one did!!!!

Why wouldn't you? Because maybe you're someone who accepts that the world doesn't revolve around your opinions?

You may as well fucking troll then.

    lol???

  • Comment removed

  • @Redflowers9 Yes... lol! ;)

  • @Splashy151 "Yes... lol! ;)" er...no... you where justifying yourself in the first place which means you weren't initially trolling, you probably just found out what I actually meant about not minding RPG games in general (which doesn't mean I'm a fucking fan?? lol) and now you're just playing silly as if it was all a big joke.... fuck you too and I hope that you grow some sooner than later because things are going to get harder for your 15 year old ass whether you like it or not. Deal with it

  • @Redflowers9 No I thought you were trolling.

  • @Redflowers9 Oh god I could write a whole reply to this, but the fucking youtube, character limit is pissing me off!...

  • Fav Series

    Fallout

    Elder Scrolls

    Mass Effect

    and Half Life

  • @XJackLawd7 i agree with u but i also enjoy dragon age

  • He said the full "interview" as opposed to "review" at 6:52 lol.

  • @tatawarrior he said "for the full written review.."

  • @JamesBondHero Just completed Mass Effect tonight. Took me over 60 hours so I can safely say I didn't rush it! Loved it and my character's all ready for Mass Effect 2 :)

  • @THESHOWTIMEMIKE Already ordered and in the post :) Coming to the end of Mass Effect 1 now so it should arrive just in time and I can carry my character over. Thanks for the recommendation, I hear Mass Effect 2 is amazing...

  • you cant shoot because the gun overheats. so you ahve to wait for it to cool down.

  • @JamesBondHero Started it a week ago. Already level 46 and been playing for over 40 hours. Just landed on Virmire having completed all available side quests. Absolutely love it!

  • LOVE mass effect 2. wanted to kill myself half way through this one...

  • @AwesomeNnja54 just curious why was the first one so bad compared to 2 havent played either and trying to decide if i should start from the beginning and is one needed as much as ppl say?

  • @JG89797 No, its really not. But my opinion on the first one is a rare one so you might like it. I just thought the first one was boring, had a horrible combat system, missions were drug out, i NEVER had a good sense of where i was going, and worst of all it had SO MANY ELEVATOR RIDES. ALL of this is fixed in the second one. The storyline is beautiful in ME1 though i must say.

  • @AwesomeNnja54 Well I decided to start playing the first and I am finally liking it after 4 hrs. glad I started with the first to know how it all starts but everything u just mentioned is true the elevators are annoying and the first 2 hrs I was thinking wow this is an outdated pos but it just takes patience and from what I hear it gets wayy better when I start the second.

  • @JG89797 Oh boy, just wait till you see the ending! :D

What class are you playing on?

  • @Splashy151 Playing as a soldier while using krogan and talia with their specific powers. Also trying to be a paragon on just about every situation just in case somebody can be seen again in the next. Doing a bit of a power playthrough but I am enjoying it and probably gonna do some side stuff and check it out. Elevators are okay and mako is fine with me I just wish I had something to tell me where i'm going sometimes.

  • @JG89797 Their is a map you can use. But it's not entirely reliable.

Soldiers good as well. Second playthrough is always the greatest cause you're more aware, and you get to go back and see how differently things played out..

  • @Splashy151 Beat the game 23 hrs in lol did quite a bit of side stuff too. Going on planets and driving around i found relaxing and liked looking at how the view looks, the moons were cool to land on. Played mostly paragon lucky for me I saved right before the end because I let the council die which I didn't really want to do felt like a dick kind of. So I really liked it and was hooked as you can tell took me 3 days to finish it.

  • @JG89797 Good work man, most people never even bother too get past the citadel because they're too lazy. Now you have kinda inspired me to have another playthrough of it. lol!

  • @JG89797 Trust me, the first one is worth it. You might as well skip Mass Effect 2, because it's just one big filler.

  • @LoryuoRaioneru I bought it and beat it, I liked it. Just bought mass effect 2 aswell and am 3 hrs in. Really? I'm thinking holy crap this is much better made so far. Action packed aswell as good dialogue, great sequel.

  • @JG89797 You'll realize it when you beat it. The story goes nowhere.

  • @LoryuoRaioneru In some way I think I agree with you, I don't know how Bioware are going to work their magic onto ME3 with all that story to fit in. Mass Effect 2 didn't feel entirely pointles though, it gave the fans more immersion with the universe, like the terminus systems and the so called "seedy underbelly" feel to it. Which is ultimately going to make Mass Effect 3 even more enjoyable.

  • @LoryuoRaioneru

Mass Effect 2 is not a big filler. I feel it has more of a point than the first one.

  • @lush1998 How the hell does the 2nd one have more of a point than the first one exactly? No seriously, i'm asking an honest question.

  • @LoryuoRaioneru

I just feels it develops the squad that you will carry over to the next game, and you find out lots of things about the Reapers. You also find out that Harbinger is planning to take over the galaxy. I just feel it is not filler, and maybe has more of a point than the first one and more things are going on.

  • @lush1998 I don't think it's fair too say that in a trilogy the 2nd has more of a point then the 1st, very un-true right there!

  • @Splashy151

No I don't think it is untrue. Normally the first is just an introduction to the series and introducing the main characters and shit, while in the second one you take the fight to the Collectors who are working for the Reapers.

  • @lush1998 Yes without that introduction we're just stumbling are way through ME2 confused. Also big decisions like the Rachni, kaiden or Ashley, saving or killing the council. Ultimately effected the universe you were going to play in.

Mass Effect 2 was not a filler though, it did have purpose. I feel like after playing Mass Effect's Political peaceful universe, the seedy underbelly of Mass Effect 2 felt as a huge change of pace and added more of a connection to the universe you were saving!

  • Am I the only one who gets this confused with Dead Space?

  • Would people recommend this game for somebody who's just completed Fallout 3 and New Vegas back to back? It looks good but I'm worried that some of you are saying 30 hours to finish when I spent a collective 400 hours on both Fallout games.

  • @iwtmltyb That's like saying "I just completed Super Mario Bros. Should I try Half-Life?" They are two totally different types of games.

  • @iwtmltyb You'll spend 20 hours if you rush like an ass! But you'll spend mush more if you explore!

  • @iwtmltyb i actually just completed both fallout 3 and new vegas last month and i am playing mass effect 2 right now.i recommend you play this game it's awesome.

  • in many ways mass effect 1 is better the the sequel, the music is better, you learn alot about the game, weather it's learning alien culture or your companions history and for some reason the combat is more fun then mass effect 2

  • Guy below to me they are similar because they both have choices and consequence thingies which are cool n stuff

  • To anyone out there... play the first one before you play the second D: ... If you play the second first you won't like the first as much....

  • @Saintbalor

yeah, I just started the first one. I'm about 10 hours into it and it's great. I'm already looking forward to the part 2.

  • Bioware makes the best RPG shit in the house!

  • @jimmylx12 Yup, my first Bioware game was Kotor. Still love it.

    IMO

    KOTOR 1&2> Mass effect 1&2> DA 1&2

Both are incredibly well put togeather games.

  • @jimmylx12 no, they make the best RPG/Shooters. Square Enix still holds the crown.

  • @hawksandsparrows no,bioware its a known fact kotors,mass effect,dragon age,baldurs gate etc...

  • @s3t2tru final fantasy takes like half of those off the board, then you got valkyrie profile, and i think square enix made phantasy star online, which was the shit for the gamecube.

  • @jimmylx12 Bethesda says hi.

  • @xCrazyxJayx yea Bethesda is one of the bests!!

  • @jimmylx12 lol jade empire... that was the shit too!!

  • @jimmylx12 your mistaken bethesda makes the best rpgs then bioware then.....SOMEBODY HELP ME

  • @jimmylx12 Bethesda and Bioware make the best :D Mass Effect is awesome, but then you see Skyrim and......yeah :D But I still can't wait for Mass Effect 3! :D

  • @jimmylx12 I say that Bioware is one of the best, but when i comes to RPG's the best games come from Bethesda.

  • ...So what's their score for the game? Where is the link in the description?

  • metal gear solid 1 and mass effect 1 are my favorite games EVA!!!!!

  • took me 30 hours to beat this game with most of the side quest accomplished

  • wow i never used the codex......

  • @TheAzraelKnight OMG why? You really should've...

  • @TheAzraelKnight SERIOUSLY? I've read every bit and the universe and game was far better for it

  • The game is much better on the PC, the whole squad command problem is fixed and load times are way way way shorter.

  • @liamdudeeee Xbox: World Record for longest elevator ride evar! PC: World Record for shortest elevator ride ever!

  • Fallout 3 is better mass effect 2 was cool but I couldn't play the first one also new vegas is cool

  • @munchies117 Fallout 3 has NOTHING to do with this game GAH!!!!! why does everyone compare compleetly different games it bugs the shit outta me!!!

  • They review this at 9.4 on ign yet he has done nothing but moan at the game in the review.

  • @KINGC0LLIER Yes, they're a professional reviewer they have to cover all the little problems... Even if they think the game is absolute Beast ;)

  • Took me a month to beat

  • I love mass effect and all but one gamestop gave me a scratched disc and plus the games constant lagging I had to save every 3 minutes because either the disc would mess up or the game would freeze Ahaha!!!

  • Is it worth playing Mass Effect 1? Is it almost as epic as Mass Effect 2?

  • @Kasotomic Story wise its waaaayyyy better

  • Oops, I meant 0:21

  • 0:28 WHAT THE FUCK!?

  • What an ugly custom shepard!

  • mass effect 1 is pg12 and mass effect 2 is 18 and i think mass effect 3 is gonna be 16

  • what should my first shooter be, bioshock, metro 2033 or mass effect? =)

  • @bitjezeverpeisek I've never played any of them, but I've heard of 2 of them. From people I've heard from over the internet they say they were very impressed by BioShock.

  • @bitjezeverpeisek mass effect i played al and mass effect leaves u with an open jaw at the end double that in mass effect 2

  • @bitjezeverpeisek amss effect

  • am i the only guy who played as a women shephard?
