This is probably more common than knee. Think about it, it's a lot less likely that people go to a doctor for this injury unless its serious as compared to knee. I've done this to my thumb three times this year already. I'm thinking of ditching the poles. Might have to look these up.
@WWoodyW Yep, most thumb injuries are minor, so no one reports them. Only the 'real' ones get taken up in the statistics. The problem is that even the minor ones can take up to a year to pass.
The ski & pole manufacturers I approached all stick their heads in the snow - They admit the problem exists, but consider it marginal.
If anything they're moving in the opposite direction creating 'click' in systems that are 'comfortable' and 'trendy' to use - even more risky if you ask me.
