Of his 3 X losses this was the only 1 that I thought was legt - ie he had a bad night and he did'nt have the answers fo Silva. I thought the Werdum he either JUST got caught - or Russian mafia involved (it was about 11/1 odds) but the more I watch this - the more I feel Silva should'vebn warned then DQ'd. The reason throat strikes/grabbing throat in this manner is disallowed cos can cause a collapsed trachea. Glad I found this video - you can see Sailva in the full mount looking to ref to see if he was gona stop it cos he grabbed his throat and I BELEIVE SILVA KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING WAS ILLEGAL. I see what your talking about with the holding of the throat inorder to control Fedor for the comming punches.....it does appear that he took advantage of the fact that the ref kept allowing it to continue !....weight was the only issue here and he used it to the max !

@ronnied828 Yes Silva had weight advantage ,but when he didn't use that throat holding he didn't punch fedor not even once ,like I said I'v tried this on training and it's very difficult to escape even with smaller partner than you ,but to have a 290 pounds on your trachea ,that's murder ,if silva do this to his sparring partners all of them will be dead believe me ,Fedor on the end of the round had more conditioning then silva ,Silva was so scared because of that you can see .

@wrestlingfan01 YES ,you cant rape choke in the rules is that is foul if you do grabbing trachea of your opponent ,so you cant rape choke without grabbing the trachea you can pressure him with your elbow or on the chin or all face and head ,but grabbing the trachea that's attempt of murder and that cant be leggal ,maybe in UFC is legal I dont know but if MMA let the organizations to come with that non sportical rules then MMA dont give a f**k for his fighters just for the fans to be attractiv .

@Vassago879 why was Silva better , because he was better in 2 round ,but in first round - he did nothing fedor win that round 10:7 (I watched a interview with one of the judges) the secound was 10:7 for Silva- the diffirents was the Fedor natural soft skin on face and that my friend dosen't mean that Silva was better or that he give's Fedor more punches then Fedor injuris happens and didn't have one for 10 years - Fedor will be back with win and confidence .

Fedor,Mark Coleman team, even Mirko , that was the beginnings of this sport they made this sport popular ,attractive ,based on their philosophies and techniques this new fighters are fighting, Werdum and Silva ,they knew jiu jitsu but to fight in MMA must be complete fighter and the approach to the fight is different then the other combat disciplines ,Fedor didn't have someone to tell him how to fight in MMA someone with experience- these fighters have ones.

Antonio silva had 40 pounds more,he was more agresive,more hungry and thats reason why he won..fedor isnt at top anymore,he passed his prime and thats it.

Bigfoot had to cheat to beat him and he weighed almost 290 pounds during the fight and Fedor's boxing trainer complained about it. he´s not grabbing trachea, which is illegal. Hes grabbing entire neck which is legal. Brock Lesnar did it to Frank Mir, check it out.

Silvas hands are so big its useful for him (brock also) otherwise its very difficult for most fighters to do this as their hands dont encircle the neck. That is the only reason we dont see more choking in GnP fighting. Joe Rogan calls this the ¨rape choke

@etuar87 Ok i didn't understand and like I said who thinks that this what Silva did was right ,just to come in my club ,in Skopje ,where we train Sambo just to show him what happened on this fight and that it's almost impossible to escape from that position ,but with Mike he was grabbing him on chin - with Fedor on trachea and after fight he said that with Fedor he was grabbing him on chin witch is wrong .Anyway you can still come if you wanna test your skills ,we are pro and unique in Balkan

@viktor3600 Although the MMA rules of the New Jersey State Athletic Commission prohibit "throat strikes of any kind," holding your opponent by his throat is completely legitimate. There have been some proposals in MMA to ban grabbing the trachea, but under the current rules, what Silva was doing is perfectly legal.

I'm not sure that its entirely against the rules, the Chute Box guys have done the 'rape choke' whilst throwing ground and pound for years. It was certainly allowed in pride, and although i can't cite any examples I'm sure i've seen it plenty in the UFC too. I think this could just be Strikeforce with their tweaks to the unified rules, like no elbow strikes to downed opponent, in which case you can't blame Big Dan for letting it slip.

@googoogaju45 no no no in any MMA discipline it's not allowed grabbing the trachea you can read the rules at wikipedia or any official site of MMA , it wouldn't be fer I can win a fight like that even with pro fighter, I train sambo and I did the same thing silva did - to my trainer and he tap in mater of seconds ,even in UFC this is foul becouse the trachea has no muscles and can be fatal .
