  • Great song, but unfortunately, some of the lyrics should be,"-hello Kobe (Japan) auto worker-" and "-hello Szechuan (China) steel mill worker-". Those "-ringing up the sale-" are all too often ringing up the sale for foreign made goods. Don't think there's a feasible short term solution to this problem, but things will eventually even out, although we'll never see it in our generation. One thing America still produces is good Country music, like this classic by Alabama.

  • This song is so sweet!!! I sing this song to myself when times get hard!!!! And my dad was a fireman who lovesss this song!!!! God bless!!!

Listen to the beginning of the song retard, he says Detroit factory worker, that's a northerner. In the words of Alan Jackson, "There's nothing wrong with a hard hat and a hammer" That includes no matter where you live.

  • to all hard workers this song is to my dad

  • Anybody who says anything different about this song has a thousand fists coming for them.

  • The sad shame is..the AUTO WORKERS are now in JAPAN..and the STEELMILL workers are OVERSEAS, as well.. so NOTHING IS KEEPING OUR COUNTRY TURNING~~!!! even the COAL MINES have closed....and when you call customer service, you get VIETNAM~!!!!

  • Oh way to kill, creamate, and spread the ashes of the moment buddy.

  • @amery2u lazy ass Americans that sit on the couch all day need to get off their asses and do somthin is the problem with this country!people have got to damn lazy! they rely on mcdonalds and pizzahut.i go to the grocery store every now and then but i grow most of my food and what i dont use i have it shipped out

  • and no i dont use AC tractors or combines no AC at all i use the old tractors from the 40s 50s 60s 70s and 80s

  • like my grandpa whos 62 but he works about 100 hrs....

  • @TheChevyLover my dad busted ass like that as a carpenter from 17 till he was 64, but then he had a heart attack =(

  • What has happened to todays country music ,it's gotten to mainstream so they can sell more records. All I can say is get back to what country music was all about. The key word is COUNTRY.God Bless America and Merry Christmas to all real country fans not happy freakin holiday

  • I've loved Alabama since I was a teenager

  • oh my god it's very nice my dad was looking for work and found

my dad and me remmember this song

  • Song is really true a hard days work is better than a CEO sittin behind a desk and owing a pvt jet

  • Amen to that!

  • amen you dont get the feel of real satisfaction from sitting behind a desk

  • damn right

  • @drumline94 how do you know?

  • @drumline94 I don't usually make or reply to Youtube comments but I wanted to take a moment and say something. I'm a network analyst. I sit behind a desk from 7 P.M-7 A.M Fri-Mon and then roll out of bed on Tuesday morning and start working on my little side business that's also in IT.

I just came off of a job roofing seven days a week and considered it one of the best jobs I could have had. I guess my point is to be thankful if you're not one of the people sitting behind a desk.

  • How many of the jobs listed in this song are still available to American workers in 2009?

    Detroit auto workers: bankruptcy

Firefighters: have to go to court to get a promotion

    Steelworkers: the "rust belt"

    Factories: Mexico/China

    Behind the scenes workers: India

    Carpenters: Illegal Immigrants

Coal Miners: the soon to be "Cap and Trade" victims

Truck Drivers: will soon be insourced from Mexican trucking companies

It's good to know that there used to be places to work!

  • well said it pisses me off to man

  • Could not have been said better!

  • the farmers are still working ^^ i live on the farm and hopefully they will keep that job going

  • guys who have dangerous jobs that make our country work dont get paid enough firefighters lets go

  • No ammount of money could ever ammount to the reward of a honest days work and a honest living... if you ask me who should make millions a year its the people in this song. Americans should idolize them instead of sports players and actors because without them America wouldnt exist God bless all them Hard workin Americans out there!

  • this is a very good song

  • this song owns man

  • This song does speak the truth for sure, it would sure be good for people to recognise, and respect the men and women who work hard to provide services.

  • the song tells the truth
