  • I worked for Burger Chef in Corpus Christi Texas in 1970s, they used to make us clock out at midnight and sometimes clean & work until 2-3am. Then would get up & go to high school at W.B. Ray & sleep thru a few classes. For awhile BC had fudge cookies give out with kids meal, those were survival snacks at Padre. Thanks for commercial, enjoyed it.

  • I love commercials in which a non-living product (especially a food or something) is given fully working human-sized legs.

  • Nothing gets me hungrier than watching my food dance for the camera.

  • Burger Chef is now Hardees

  • Haha this is too much!

  • Burgers with legs? No wonder everybody's gone vegan.

  • I remember the old "Burger Chef & Jeff" ads - "Burger Chef, you're INCREDIBURGIBLE!" Ah, memories . . .

  • I grew up in a small town outside of Cincinnati and there was a Burger Chef a few blocks from our house, next to a place called Zantigos, that served Mexican food. Burger Chef brings back great childhood memories of burgers in plastic bags.Remember those?

  • @splattergirl72 Columbus here and i went to school near a burger chef on the west side of Columbus Ohio. Twice a week my mom would get me food from there. On Monday's if i was good all weekend and Friday's if i did good in school all week. Heck even pizza delivery was only on an occasion. Now kids get to eat that stuff every time they wined. I wined a got smacked and had to eat at home. So you can say i was good a-lot as i loved that place.

  • @ScotsmanRex Yeah,I remember when going out to eat was a special treat. For some reason my mom enjoyed torturing me with home cooked meals.

  • My family used to get the child's meal for 85 cents. I have very fond memories of this place. as i think back, i still can taste them.

  • I remember they used to give out little thin square plastic records with their happy meals. Back when a happy meal actually came in a box and it was actually not a class c felony to eat a fried goddamn hamburger. Back then a kid was happy to get a happy meal cuz you didn't get a chance to eat out like that every damn day. Nowadays alot these parents live and die by that shit and kids won't eat shit unless it comes from a fuckin dollar menu.

  • @djseriousbizness Amen! to your comment. Also I have that same record to this day. Well, the one I have is yellow and says burger chef and jeff in green letters but must be the same. Anywho Hardee's bought them out Carl's Jr on the west coast.

  • man, I used to love going to Burger Chef. Anyone remember the kids box folded into buildings? My brother and I had a whole town!! With water tower!!

  • Its like the A and W family, wait, Is An W only on CANADA cuz whenever I go to AMrica i dontm see one CUZ Im CANADIAN :)

P.S. no I don't live in an igloo annd I don't eat caribou meat EAUGGHH that would be nasty

  • I grew up in Ohio on a dead-end street that continued onto a path that lead through the woods to the back corner of the Burger Chef parking lot. We used to ride our bikes there all the time in the summer.

  • I grew up in Michigan but haven't lived there since 1979. Our house was only 3 blocks away from the only store in our small town and our dad would take the family to Burger Chef every Friday night for dinner when we were kids; as we got older, everybody would go to Burger Chef after High School basketball games. My brother and I were talking about the 'Big Chef' and a fry tonight...great to see the old commercials, share the great memories, and recall a great childhood mainstay!

  • I went to an Elementary school that was next to a Burger Chef and Jeff restaurant. I went to Woodruff School in Ypsilanti Michigan and I loved Burger Chef. Yeah, I got kicked out for throwing pickles on the wall by Connie who worked there. I wish somehow, someway, Burger Chef and Jeff can return. My favorite burger had about 20 slices of pickles, the great shredded lettuce and as much ketchup as the burger would hold.

  • I have just started a bring back burger chef petition to sign the petition go to petitionspot d o t c o m/petitions/bringbackburgerchef I'm hoping to get enough signatures to send our petition to river west brands to let them know we support their fight against hardees and we love burger chef

  • Be nice If someone could bring back Winky's in Pittsburgh

  • In the midwest, Hardee's took over Burger Chef years ago. Hardee's was bought out by Carl's Jr., and the menu and graphics were changed to make both chains appear to be the same.

Most of the restaurants are adding a Red Burrito menu now. I was in a Hardee's not long ago, and they were bringing back the old Burger Chef "Big Shef" as a promotional item.

  • I grew up in Michigan and my family went to Burger Chef once a week when my dad got his paycheck...does anyone remember Burger Chef and Jeff?? I also think Burger Chef was the first hamburger place to come out with a special "kids meal"! ^_^

  • @MelanieLouM In 1979, McDonald's copied the FunMeal to the Happy Meal. It had OK toys back then. Since 2005, it has terrible toys, usually Disney until 2007. The current meal is

HOT WHEELS BATTLE FORCE 5 (for a boy) [the show really sucks]

BARBIE IN A MERMAID TALE (for a girl) [too much CGI is used]

  • Hey, I like those hamburgers costumes. I wish I have one of those hamburgers costumes so I can be a cheeseburger for the burger chef. I do remember my early childhood and I used to eat at burger chef.

  • I remember eating food from Burger Chef a lot in my early childhood. Before I found this page, I had wondered about what happened to Burger Chef for a long time. It is good to see that the world still remembers it.

  • River West Brands is seeking to revive Burger Chef and filed a copyright challenge in 1997 according to Wikipedia. I think legally River West might have a hard row to hoe but they would do better than Hardee's. Other than their breakfast offerings and going to natural shakes I have seen little that Hardee's has done right. They made me mad when they did away with the melted cheese big burger in the late Seventies.

  • Burger Chef had the best burgers in the business. Here in Memphis, the old Burger Chef building on Cleveland street just south of Poplar avenue is still there, but it's a gook restaurant. Also, at Burger Chef, the beef was as big as the bun. I had a Big Mac today. The two pieces of beef were about the size of their sausage patties. And it tasted like crap. Yep, sure did. I ate crap today.

  • Thank you!

  • I'm from Michigan and moved to Phoenix about 21 years ago. I haven't even THOUGHT about Burger Chef since then. Oh my goodness. I forgot all about Burger Chef. It must be an East Coast/Midwestern burger place. There isn't one out West. Can anyone add any info? Is there still Burger Chefs in existence? Thanks

  • If you go to Wikipedia com, they have an article there on them. I think they are out of business now, if I remember what it said.

  • Bought by Hardee's. Now it's Hardee's in the East/Midwest, Carl's Jr. in the West.

  • @sneekspeeks We used to have them in Phoenix, in the 70s.
