  • Perrrrrrrfection

  • Pure class.

  • And why don't they play this on the radio? Oh Right because people would rather listen to meaningless songs and not know what good music is

  • @mybigweener1 who made you the judge of good music?

  • love this band

  • Great lyrics, Sounds, Story! They are simply great artists..

  • I like the roots. they have good messages in their songs, amazing lyrics, and creative backing tracks (not that stock snare clap shit you hear over and over in hip hop)

  • dice raw and black thought have good singing voices

  • 60 Young Money Lovers

  • Vevo obviously gives a fuck!!! Keep on censoring shit faggots!!! :/

  • @starfoxmack10 What the hell are you talking about?? Isn't the song's meaning that you SHOULD give a fuck because the other way of thinking "can't get you nowhere"? So next time when you are badmouthing Vevo, try to atleast do it right

  • Keep out....broken dreams inside...

  • this song reminds me of the struggle i had as a kid and then again with my alcoholism.

Its two hells i never want to feel again nor do i wish it on any one else. It takes work to

  • I dont give a 8=====D(('))

He also has rare tracks on Itunes aswell.

  • get this vevo shit out of here, I came to hear this track without censorship

  • @armsinmotion I'm on it.

  • Can someone recommend me a good Roots album?

  • @SirMrTony

Pick one :) Two favorites "Things Fall Apart" and this one "How I got over"... released like 10 years apart and both out cold. All Roots crew puts weak hip-hop to the test!

  • @SirMrTony things fall apart. they released a new album undun, which is pretty good.

  • fuck vevo :@

  • @MrHalfblack69 I agree completely, this song speaks to everyone, black, white, native american, chinese, armenian, anyone who grew up in the ghetto. And it reminds us that with nothing, there is always a chance for us to make something out of ourselves.

  • #salute

  • The Roots will be remembered for just the one song. It's played on youtube over and over. Sad.

  • I used to be funky then i took an arrow in the knee

  • 16 as well... I've been listening to this type of Hip Hop since i remember myself :D

  • 0:00

  • da hell this is filmt in my hood. dude sitting all up in my bus stop

  • why the f*** have they blocked out the swearing, its ruined the song

  • @cmhonsu33 Why? It's vevo, dumbass. Listen to it without the music video if you want to hear it without the swearing. I'm not in any way endorsing censorship. I think it's fucking stupid but what do you expect, man? This is an official music video lol. They always cut the swearing.

  • soon on youtube, ikea remix on all videos.. :(

  • Heard this song from fight night champion awesome song

  • Lil Wayne and Jerry Sandusky are homies

  • @loganajoshua so, no interest to learn something about anyone of them

  • im probably one of the only 14 year old kids that listen to DECENT music like this

  • @cmhonsu33

im 16... close enough right? lol

  • @KaiL3127 and already listening good music! nice

  • @cmhonsu33 im 14!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lil wayne is shit fuck ya 13 year old skinny jean small penis kids

  • Da Carter 4 is the greatest album of all time. It's a timeless classic that will stand the test of time. Lil Wayne is the greatest of all time. Pac doesn't have shit on Wayne. It's not even close. #2 is Soulja Boy #3 Waka Flocka. After that the talent level drops way before you couldeven begin to talk about Pac, Biggie, Mos Def, Nas, Blackthought, Tribe Called Quest, Smif N' Wessun, De La Soul, Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch, or Curren$y. Those guys are nothing compared to Wayne. Get At Me

  • @loganajoshua

    HAHAHAHAHA...

  • @loganajoshua trolololol

  • This is Hip-Hop

  • Please guys do not go to the dark side of the mainstream, like many others do. Keep your own legendary style!

  • @samyoberli the won't. this how they are, real music

  • @samyoberli dude they have like 9 different albums. I don't think that theyre going to do that.... I'm pretty sure they're set.

  • I'm a halfblack nigga from the hood and this song deeply touches me because this is how life was before God blessed me and I got into college but you want to care about people and it's tough I'm not gonna lie but trust me when I say there is someone out there on those streets that needs somebody to care about them cause it's easy to get categorized as just another nigga from the hood

  • @MrHalfblack69 The realist shit ive ever read on YT.

  • @MrHalfblack69

I feel you bro...same here. From the streets to a great college and i still can't forget the streets that raised me.

    1 love

  • @MrHalfblack69 every nigga from the hood is just another nigga from the hood. what we gotta remember is that doesnt mean we have to die before we reach 30, or get locked up for life. bein another nigga from the hood can be a positive lifestyle too.

  • A very inspiring song nothing but real talk, we all really need to stop with this "i dont give a fuck" mess and start caring more bout our people and our sourroundings even if we dont get that same care back. Im just saying Im not a perefect person either. The Roots Forever!

  • Rums of Puerto Rico! yumm

  • Is that Black Thought singing??

  • Comment removed

  • @narusku4 How is he stereotyping? His comment said 'is that black thought singing'. The lead vocalist in the roots is called black thought?

  • @narusku4 um his not being a stereotype the lead of the roots name is black thought

  • @narusku4 Don't look for or start a dispute just because your black.

  • @IVIonkey123 I wasn't. Prick. I didnt know. I've been corrected a number of times now...take a number faggot :)

  • @narusku4 Called it!....but, how can I be a prick and a faggot? I also don't have to take a number if you already responded to me. I also said something different because it's annoying when people play the race card just because they can.

  • fuck you vevo for censorship.

  • butthole :)

  • "How I Got Over" is probably the best hip hop album of all times :)

  • this song is uplifting..; i thought about suicide a 3 thousand times but this song reminds me life is cool

  • @leyla1466 keep your head up u only have 1....peace to u and yours

  • @jchinds thanks homie

  • Drake is dope.

  • @Graenelolz The Roots are doper.

  • @Graenelolz Obvious Troll is Obvious.

  • @skyguy15 Yes, I get what you're saying. People who always post their opinion about how The Roots deserved the Grammy more than Drake are ofcourse much more reliable then me, who only said that Drake is dope.

  • @Graenelolz drake is good but the roots are better

  • @Haoxman101 Agreed.

  • @Graenelolz drake is soooo wack ha, have you seen his freestyle on tim westwood, that rich prick cant even rap, never mind make a decent hip hop track. this song has depth and meaning and should have taken that grammy

  • @ORIGINALGANGST4 Whack because he can't freestyle? Dude, there's almost not anyone "freestyling" even Eminem, Black Thought or Mos Def present their written raps in form of freestyles. That's not the way you should classify rap artists. If you want to hear him rhyme technically well, check out his part on "Miss Me" or "Over". There are far worse music artists then Drake out there.

  • @Graenelolz i didnt say he was wack cos he couldnt freestyle, i said he couldnt rap! on westwood he obviously had writtens, and he was still terrible! are you saying eminem, black thought and mos def cant freestyle, cos theyre sick. i class rap artists differently, drake is mostly a rapper for the charts, not a hip hop artist, black thought and the roots are true hip hop. miss me and over are not hip hop and the verses are wack, the songs have no depth! drake is overrated, hes a studio gangster

  • @ORIGINALGANGST4 Again, you classify your artists wrong. Stop using that word "true"/"real". It's corny ass bullshit. Drake never claimed to be a gangster, nor did he claim that every song is "deep". He doesn't rap about politics, so what? Ever heard of love-songs? Hip Hop/Rap is not ONLY made for politics. Also, being a hip hop artist doesn't imply that you'll never reach the billboards. Eminem, 2pac and Outkast sold more than Drake ever could, still they're all rappers.

    Who are you to judge?

  • @Graenelolz your not quite understanding what im saying, drake can obviously make songs that sell well, just as eminem,2pac and outkast did. but this hip hop (roots) is not made for making money (as drakes, eminems, 2pacs is), it is made because it is an art form, a culture, 2pac and eminem were sell outs, call pac a legend all you will, but at the time of his death he was in it for the money. this IS hip hop, that boom bap, funky, meaningful rap, i never mentioned politics, i i just mean depth

  • @ORIGINALGANGST4 I get what you're saying, but then again, it's not quite right. Because at some point, even The Roots are doing hip hop for money. Of course they do. It's their job to do that, otherwise they would be broke. And Drake, yes - he wants to make money out of his music. But that's not why he is in it for. If you ever took time to check him out, he really loves hip hop and he grew up with this subculture. So all he ever wanted was to do what he can and get famous for it.

  • @ORIGINALGANGST4 And depth isn't just politics like you said, yes. But that doesn't mean that Drake isn't meaningful. If you ever listened to "Fireworks", he raps as meaningful as it gets about his upcoming stardom, about relationships and how hard it is to grow up without people around you, especially parents, because they divorce.

  • Hey everyone...those who love God "Thumbs up" or check out my channel & leave a positive comment about God...it's time to give God some praise...Thanks God Bless

  • LOVING THE STEELY DAN SAMPLE.

  • @aligned576 I'd love to hear The Roots sample that main riff from The Royal Scam. I know they would really flow with that, considering what the songs about and everything.

  • Roots are the shit.

    Also, vevo is shit.

  • Roots fell off hard

  • There so much better live and that's a fact!!!

  • @bergman864 if you think its so bad get off the page and listen to someone you do like, and let the people who love the roots and there beautiful music be. its as simple as not coming to the page in the first place if you dont like them. period. end of story.

  • 50 people didn't get over..

  • real shit my life is from the streets

  • this song basically describes the streets.

  • Sometimes the censoring isn't THAT bad, but censoring in this song just plain ruins it.

  • bomb as always

  • I wonder if that's the actual Amen Break sampled or if ?estLove is just playing it?

  • @jeffort23 You mean like the Winston's Amen break???

  • @jeffort23 thinks it's ?est playing it man

  • I am a total and utter metal head but I like this song, its not amazing, but I like it mostly because its not really hip hop or rap, more soul, and I am a guy who loves songs like I need the dollar, stand by me and aint no sunshine

  • i swear this is in fifa 9

  • @tommyb1011 hahaha sounds like the hook from one of those tunes ye
