  • Whenever people say to me, "You know that Bela Lugosi is a cheap rip-off of Bela Swan."

    I reply,

"So you're saying Bela Swan's a Transsexual?" XD

  • @Soundwave401 who says that? How can Bela rip off Lugosi, that is impossible!!!!

  • @onemisterfranko lots of twilight fans say this, sadly. :(

  • @Soundwave401 WHAT!!!!!!!!!

Bela Lugosi was acting in the 30's come on! If anything she stole the name from him! A true vampire!

  • @onemisterfranko yeah, i agree. And i always thought Bella Swan was just a blood drive for glittery vampires. XP

  • That part with the mirror is f*cking BRILLIANT! :D

  • John: "What could have caused this, professor?"

    Maid: "Count Dracula."

    LOL

  • I just love the way how he steps from behind that tree at 9:13!

  • @hunterof7shadows GO ABRAHAM!!!!

  • fucking dramatic!!!!! damn fucking good since 3:18 damn!!!! fucking classical!

  • @guiloberto And HORRIFYING!!!!

  • Ah, 1931, back when men were men and women were women and movies were truly about entertainment.

  • @MurasakiFujiwara MMM HMM

  • I can't help thinking that the maid Renfield apparently kills in this segment reminds me of Drew Barrymore.

  • Scary, Huh?

  • Poor Mina

  • i love Martin, and ill never get tired of Renfield's laugh.

  • 8:44 - Best. Faint. Ever.

  • LOL poor Jonathan when Dracula comes downstairs. Mina's completely star-struck the minute she hears the guy's voice...

  • The minute Lugosi walked in, the screen was electrified.

  • haha I love Renfeilds laugh

my brother laughs like that XD

  • is this one the original?

  • @sophieis724 This is the original Dracula movie, but there was a silent film with Count Dracula called Nosferatu.

  • As a rule we where in Brooklyn don't invite "Counts" to stay in our house.

  • ha "bootyful lady in white"

  • He so just Pimpslapped that mirror.

  • "For one who has not lived even a single lifetime, you are a wise man, Van Helsing"

  • 3:32 HELL NO,NIGGA!!!

  • I thought that Lucy is the one who get bit by Dracula due to his continuously visitings for her st night! not Mna as it shown here!? any explanations?

  • @emilejunior *SPOILERS* Both.

  • @emilejunior several versions switch the names of the characters. Going by the original story Lucy is the one who gets killed, turned and staked. Mina is the one who gets bit, but saved before Dracula can fully drain her.

  • oo

     L0L Face

  • Legosi's reaction to the mirror, then the look he gives Van Helsing is magnificent! NO actor today can say so much with one look. Stunning.

  • There is no dought about it,Bela Lugosi was the best Dracula.Love his sexy accent. He was such a gorgeous man.I love everything about him, plus he was a fine actor.I love other movies that he was in besides Dracula.White Zombie,Black Cat, Invisible Ghost,Return Of the Vampire,The Raven & others.I just can't get enough of this man lately, makes me wish I was alive in the 1930's.

  • @sunriseelaine2003 You're not the only one. I'd do anything to have been married to someone so attractive.

  • van helsing is fucking badass in this.

  • @OceanicMetal Don't forget Lestat.

  • lmao! renfield's laugh

  • Ahh, Dracula meets Van Helsing at last =)

  • 8:48-9:01 Please let that happpen to me! I'm one horny bitch. But with that aside, I love this movie.

  • Thanks for uploading this classic. For some reason it is never aired on television.

  • 06:58 I've heard everything!

  • Also if you are looking for a more accurate adaptation and haven't seen these I suggest the following:

    Count Dracula (1970)

    Dracula (1973)

    BBC's Count Dracula (1977)

    Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)

The first three make minor changes and lack a great technical scale, but capture the atmosphere. BSD is brilliantly filmed with classical film techniques and while most of the supporting cast are mediocre to awful and there's a silly love story thrown in, it's very accurate by Hollywood standards.

  • God this movie sucks so bad. I understand it's over 80 years old, but god damn, the book is SO much better.

  • @thedon420333

That's because this and the Langella version were trying to bring the play to the screen more than the book. I agree in some ways the fear of the unseen doesn't work as well in some parts and on a technical scale the Spanish version is superior, but it's cast and atmosphere work great. I don't usually want to see a movie just like the book word for word, because then I know exactly what will happen and can't visualize it myself. Most versions can't capture the style this has.

  • @balrog13571 I'm not really complaining about the adaptation - or how it is compared to the book. It's just the acting and everything else is just SO bad. I mean, I understand it's old as shit and this is how movies were back than, but damn, I wish I could enjoy it. It just makes me laugh. Maybe I'm just too young too appreciate it. The one made in the 90's is amazing, you should definitely check it out if you've never seen it.

  • @thedon420333

Well obviously I saw the 90's one since I put it on the list of accurate adaptations I posted, but I love this too. I admit some of the supporting cast don't work as well, but Lugosi, Sloan, and Frye are great. What's more they were all previously stage actors giving them a different style and sound hadn't been around long and actors had to adjust to it. In any case they give a better performance than the supporting cast in Bram Stoker's Dracula and the legacy is impressive.

  • 7:36

    Renfield you asshole! lolz

  • VAN HELLSING?

Oh, so that's what he's from... Wow. O_O

  • what have you to do with DRACULA!

  • 6:51 Sup guys?

  • 4:03 Uhhh....................I can explain.

  • 3:46 Got no beard but strokes it like a boss.

  • 3:31

Dracula: Ain't you in a pickle now! XD

    Awesome moment!

  • wait i dont understand how the maid lady fainted? like did the dude's laugh have anything to do with it?

  • @soccergirl051 i guess he must have hyptotized her or somehting

  • Bela is so sexy in this >_<

  • Dracula and Mina up a tree K I S S I N G

  • just imagine edward laughing like that dude on 8:37 when he lures in a deer to kill. This movie rules.

  • Did Renfield Bite that maid who fainted?

  • @1BoyAwesome please reply

  • WILL YOU STOP SAY HE IS $EXY?!

  • Not many men these days can wear evening dress like Lugosi did. Bring back these 'old-fashioned' men.

  • dracula is sexy :)

  • one thing that makes this film so awesome is the lack of music in the background... the eerie quietness makes it all the more creepy!

  • *unbeatable

  • Lagosi is just awesome. Although I wuite like the Spanish version because of the camera angles and the fact that is looked more 'flowing', this Dracula is just unbeatetable

  • harker looks like a schmuck in those tweeds next to the count's sleek evening wear...

  • Bela is sooooooo cooooooooool

  • that's why women can't be vampires. They love looking in mirrors too much!

  • @jrwel14 lol thats true. im a girl :P

  • @jrwel14 good one man! and soo true !! hahah XD

  • @jrwel14 Tell that to Dracula's brides.

  • DAYUM Dwight Frye is SEXY ;)

  • 08:40 - the maid is like "wtf?.."

  • It is so sad how Hollywood chewed Lugosi like a bubble gum and threw him out to die as a poor old junkie.

  • @PufferBluntman It's also sad that Hollywood portrays vampires, these days, like sparkling fairies, instead of deep, dark, mysterious, scary legends, like they're supposed to be

  • @GialloHorror Yeah, that's because it tries to play off the beauty of the vampire, rather than their evil nature. I honestly can't blame Meyer for wanting to play off of that traditional vampire trait in the "Twilight" series, but yeah, I would agree that the wicked, fang-bearing vampire is my pick.

  • @WishfulThinkingArt I think she just wanted to cash in on teenage girls inhabitions. I don't blame her. She made a ton of money. But being a 34 year old guy, there's no doubt, "Twilight" is not directed at my demographic.

Lugosi is a LEGEND. he'll always be Dracula to me.

  • @GialloHorror No, I would suppose not. Still, I'd rather see a bloodthirsty, cunning vampire than one that pretty much looks like a fairy. I mean, don't get me wrong, Rob Pattinson looked beautiful in that light, but it just doesn't scream "vampire" as much as Bela Lugosi's facial expressions and demeanor as a gentleman.

  • @PufferBluntman You're right. After Dracula, nobody took him seriously as an actor, and he ended up dying in near poverty and because of the years of drug abuse, that probably caused his heart attack.

  • @PufferBluntman Oh, I know. It was so sad to know that he died with pretty much nothing. If I were around in that time, I would have at least shown Bela my support. I just love him. :)

  • why are you guys talking about twilight?! ._. this movie is DRACULA. not TWILIGHT. Talk about THIS MOVIE not another one. & My opinion Both movies&books are pretty great. and if you don't think so oh well. but appreciate this classic and stop fighting about twilight and whatever. >.>

  • reaction from mewre: Oh shit

  • Great timing with a bit of dark comedy:

Harker: "What could have caused [the marks on Mina's neck], Professor?"

    Maid: "Count Dracula!"

cut to Dracula's arrival which she was announcing

  • @RoninDave right after that it kinda looked like Van Helsing put that bit of humor together himself didnt it?

  • I wanted to read the novel of Dracula, I heard it's really good.

  • 8:46.....BEST MOMENT EVAR!

  • it is funny how he looks at the mirror

  • Bela Lugosi is rolling in his grave with all that Twilight/Eclipse crap out there! and so is Tod Browning (director) too!

  • This was created by people who were creative minded. Not by the idiots who rule Hollywood today....turning out violent unimaginative immature crap. Thank you for uploading this and the other classic horror films!!!

  • The only thing I hated about this movie was Van Helsing. Made me happy to see that guy killed off by Boris Karloff.

  • I know a lot of people who think the old legends on vampires are stupid and "over-the-top," but I'd rather have garlic, crosses, and bats any day, instead of sparkling goons with nutty hair

So sexy when she walks out and he's just there, waiting for her

  • Comment removed

  • This quality is amazing. Did you rip it off of a DVD? If so, which version?

  • Vanhelsing is a badass!

  • 'The strength of the vampire is, that people will NOT believe in him.' - Classic line, right there.

  • haha, renfield is gold :D

  • man he is sexy, for an killer

  • 01:30-01:55 lol Harker's jealous. Can't blame him, Dracula is one helluva lady killer and he's charming the pants off Mina.

  • Boy do I love me a man in white tie, and it's all thanks to Dracula. ^_^ I love this movie.

  • Helsing is awsome! He makes me want to be a proffessor!

  • 9:02 Why do I get the feeling he was gonna rape her or something? Never have I been more relieved of a cut-away in my life. O.o

  • @JoelandtheBots that's black and white movies for you. they cut that stuff unlike the movies of today, where they use it to sell

  • Helsing is a badass! \m/

  • Am I the only one who thinks Renfield is scarier than Dracula here?!

  • Sir Christopher Lee was the best Dracula but Bela Lugosi was great as well.

  • i love Bela Lugosi!!!

  • What could have cause this Professor...

    Maid: Count Dracula

    Dracula walks in

NOW THATS one way to answer a question

  • classical gold!

  • it isn't even scary!

  • what country is transylvania in i might visit it

  • @HORRoRFrEak4EvEr1 Transylvania is a region in Romania

  • @HORRoRFrEak4EvEr1 Transylvania is in Romania.

  • @HORRoRFrEak4EvEr1 Romania. God.

  • Dracula makes a good Dracula, but Alucard from HellSing is better :p

  • Bleh!

  • @strawzzboy bleh indeed

  • Excellent movie with a stunning Bela Lugosi as Dracula. Too bad the movie plot doesn't quite respect the original Bram Stoker's Dracula book plot. I would have loved to see it!

  • 8:33 i love his laugh and the fucked up loook on his face

  • Uh-oh! Count Dracula meets Professor Van Helsing! He's onto you, Count! You don't like mirrors do you?

  • This kicks Twilight in the nuts so hard it could make Kristen Stewart show actual emotion. Lugosi is a thousand times more badass than Edward Sparky.

  • @ArfPaws What ? only 1000 !

  • is it only me or is van helsing a real badass in in this movie?

  • @dametjemmannedeemedh Knowledge is power.

  • @dcbandnerd and knowing is half the battle

  • "I dislike mirrors ask Van Helsing" lol, some of the words and grammars that they're using is old but the dialogue is amazing.

  • 7:48 DRACULA?!?!? Why I never even heard the name before

  • 7:48 DRACULA?!?!? Why I never even heard the name before

  • 8:33 wtf so creepy!!

  • Reinfield is my hero!

  • haha; in the mina scene when he asks "what could've caused the marks?" and the maid introduses right away; "Count Dracula" ;) like on that one!

  • Robert de Niro ressembles Bela here.

  • lol people must have been pissing their pants back then

  • damn,Bela Lugosi is sexy ; )

  • @WitchAtHeart9196

ikr! his voice his sexy too!

  • @WitchAtHeart9196 was waiting for someone to say that

  • I know and I think every Dracula is hot. ;)

  • Okay, enough about Twilight already, guys! Bram Stoker's Dracula has over 100 years on it, not to mention the story itself gave us a whole new genre...it's in a whole other league from Twilight, and you can't even compare them. Nobody's gonna even know what Twilight is in twenty years, forget a hundred. So let 'em have their sparkly vampires in peace and just be happy that some vampires are still the creepy monsters they're supposed to be.

  • this movie is not 100 years old. it is 79 years old.

  • @ultradumbass Not the movie. The book.

  • @PeanutButterZombie00 Well said.

  • @PeanutButterZombie00 don't understand how your comment doesn't have more thumbs up! It's soooooooo true :D

  • everytime i watch this it makes me laugh cause it reminds me of Dracula:Dead and loving it. xD cause it really ruined it but epicly funny tho

  • @pedcie me and u were thinking the same exact things lol

  • @PrideBJ ahahaha xD odd right

  • lol very odd lol

  • I think it's totally hilarious how that Mina actress has that total stoic look on her face, while Van Helsing goes: "Do not excite her" xD

Watching old movies can be so much more fun than watching new ones, like for example ones, with sparkly little shits....*twilight stab*

  • WOW BELA LUGOSI WAS SOOOO HOT!

  • vampire venom is a twilight thing, not a dracula thing

  • to zondoeli---- i came up with the venom theory without even seeing any of the twilight stuff. i've never seen any of twilight. i assumed that dracula and other vampires used venom because i couldn't see how else the bite could transform the bitten one into another vampire.

  • lol. Love Renfield's character. His laugh cracks me up.

  • I could never understand what Renfield did to that maid...I thought he killed her or drank part of her blood I really don't know....

  • Comment removed

  • Also has attacks of conscience.

  • well I knew from the book that he wasn't a vampire but I wondered did this adaptation simply change it...For in the novel he doesn't attack any humans...Though Dr. Seward does note in his journal that he might be a homosidal maniac.

I think with the scene with the maid it's just left up to the viewer's imagenation.
