  • perfect

  • did i just get trolled?

  • Jessica Savona of Canada ahas competed all three positions of araiban double so she is no longer the only one

  • Wow shes so fluent on the floor! She really makes me want to try harder at my tumbling

  • I think that the piked double arabian is by far the coolest element. It's too bad that more gymnasts don't do them.

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519 Piked double Arabians are actually pretty popular skills. Mostepanovafan has a video showing all the people who have performed it.

  • @ShawnVikaKomova2012 I don't really know of anyone besides Aly who competes one. Really impressive tumbling passes seem to be disappearing (like F and G elements). It's probably just because of the difficulty of them and the fact that they get deducted for taking a step back (RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!)

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519 Exactly. They should have a rule that says if it's a small step or maybe even a .3 step, they won't deduct as long as it's an F or G skill. Some of the more well known gymnasts that have competed the Dos Santos I are Memmel, Tweddle, Sacramone, Barbosa, Mitchell, and Hunter.

  • @ShawnVikaKomova2012 I don't think they should get deducted period!!!!!! If the landing is uncontrolled then yes, but for any step back, that's just insane! And it's too hard on the gymnast's body to stick everything! Elfie, strangely enough, was right when she said that compelling gymnasts to stick everything takes away from the artistry. I knew about all of those who have done the Dos Santos I, but unfortunately Alicia only did it a few times. And I loved Kytra's landings! Fantastic!

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519 I agree. The landing rule makes it look so robotic. I swear sometimes Pavlova would add a step for artistry. Yes, it's smart for Alicia to switch the Dos Santos I for the double Arabian tucked to avoid deductions (idk if she could handle it either). Kytra is very impressive and I really would love to see her continue elite and even improve her tumbling more.

  • @ShawnVikaKomova2012 Pavs's tumbling is fabulous!!!!!! When she sticks her landing, it looks surreal!!!!! I hope Alicia just continues with solid tumbling that she's had because she gave so little away, in general, on her landings. That scary landing during the 2006 nationals sticks out in my mind though........but I heard Kytra retired!!! That's so upsetting if it's true! No one could tumble like her, even Dos Santos I believe. Her landings were incredibly controlled for such power.

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519 Yeah. Pavlova's DLO off bars and on floor were both stuck in 08 as well as her full-twisting double tuck in 04. I think Alicia's had too much wear and tear to improve her tumbling. She was injured after 2010 from just vault and beam. She seems mostly focused on vault anyway. That one looked terrible but she was okay immediately after it. I thought she would've collapsed. Kytra's done. I thought she'd be a collegiate but she retired all together. She was a polished Dos Santos.

  • @ShawnVikaKomova2012 But she won vault and did incredible on beam at worlds, with a broken foot! (or ankle, I can't remember) She's taking it slowly and letting her body heal, and because of that she looks better than ever. I'm not sure if her body can take basically what it had before Beijing. Seeing her in a similar position as an event specialist is disconcerting when you think about her prior injuries. Well, I hope she kicks butt at worlds!!!! And wow. Kytra's done just like that?

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519 Yeah. That's true about Alicia. I think she might need floor in order to be chosen for 2012. I'm not so sure yet, though. I heard in late 2010 Kytra was thinking about competing with the Florida Gators but she's retired now. Two years wasn't enough. As much as I love Larson (favorite of 2010 team), I think Kytra would've handled the pressure better at worlds and wouldn't have a tough time with getting enough height on the new floor.

  • @ShawnVikaKomova2012 I have no idea what Mattie did at worlds because I just couldn't watch her floor (and I expected her to be world champion!!!) I heard she didn't do her punch front on her third pass though, because she thought she would go out of bounds. Kytra would have done better indeed, but she's always underscored in my opinion. If Mattie didn't....mess up....well...But still, the Russians did a fabulous job and I'm glad they've finally won a team title. But the floor was to blame?

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519 Yeah. It's on youtube, I think. She didn't do the punch front layout so she lost front tumbling (.5) and connected tumbling (.5). Then she fell on her dismount. I think Marta's more mad about not doing the front layout rather than the fall. She could've just added in a front aerial + side aerial in the routine during any part but she didn't. Yeah. Kytra's underscored a lot and I don't know if the international judges would like her but I would. The floor wasn't as Continued

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519 Continued. springy as the Americans were used to and it sort of was Mattie's fault for losing. However, I'm more than estatic that the Russians won and I can't wait to see total dominance in 2012 with hopefully a healthy Mustafina and Komova, and Grishina, Pavlova, and Dementyeva. That's my guess on the team unless Sidorova takes Pavlova's spot or Nabieva somehow cleans up her skills.

  • @ShawnVikaKomova2012 If the Russian duo are healthy, then they should win team gold. I'm all for USA winning, but I want them to fight for it like in 1996 or 2007. But if Mustafina and Komova do all 4 events in TF, then that will be 2/3 of the score right there, with two gymnasts!!!! I hope Pavs gets onto the team! I love her gymnastics. I saw the video of her all around and she's making good progress so far. And Nabieva....what a character. That's all I can say about her hahaha.

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519 I think it's a bit of a Russian trio. Grishina might steal Mustafina's spotlight as time rolls on. 1996 and 2000 were pretty crazy IMO. Poor Khorki getting upset both times. Actually, I could potentially even see Mustafina, Komova, and Grishina doing all events! They really only need those three! Pavlova will be there. I guarantee it. Nabs will be there too. Someone once posted a comment saying that maybe Aleksandrov will clean up Nabs and Musty after seeing Musty's injury.

  • @ShawnVikaKomova2012 I know Grishna is fabulous on bars, but anything else? I know she has a killer floor routine, though. Besides, I think its stupid that only 5 can be on a team. That's just plain ridiculous. But jeez Aleksandrov had better clean up those two. They have already shown their talent, but they really need to improve their form. Honestly I wasn't surprised when Musty got hurt, since she seemed to just chuck her Amanar. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time... :(

  • @JohnPhilipSousa519 Grishina's floor marks out of a 5.5 but she executes stupendously! Her bars was 6.5 as of 2010, her beam was pretty good too! I heard she might be training an Amanar but she was never a strong vaulter so I don't know... I hate the 5 per team! It's crazy! They have the difficulty, it's the execution that kills them! I thought Musty's Amanar was great in 2010! Terrible form, but I think that was the most amplitude I've seen on that vault! This year it was lower. Too bad. :(

  • This girl is probably has the best arabians male or female and clearly has more power than any other female gymnast out there. But her choreography is terrible. The sticks in her landings are also wya off. It's a shame because she has so much talent and could dominate floor.

  • She's always amazing, but this might be one of her best performances. I really wish she'd gotten a medal at the Olympics. She's so much more interesting than the girls who did.

  • @SugarCookietarian I know right?? if only she could've controlled her landings!!!

  • wow tht first pass is UNREAL!

    wow thts amazing

  • This is sickkk!!!!

  • oh man. AMAZING. That owned me. Lol arabian double layout... CRAZINESS.

  • If 4 girls in your gym could do an Arabian double layout on floor they'd be on the olympic team.

  • Levels tens doing G skills? I want to see your gym!

  • this is the floor not the trampoline. lol

  • roflmao. alright then. well I guess your gym, which have level tens doing G skills, is not on this planet.

  • WTF, an arabian double layout is a G skill, most definitely not an A skill. A handspring is an A skill.

  • You are delusional. There is no way in hell that you have four girls in your gym that can do arabian double layouts. No one believes you.

  • If level 10 can perform it, why dos Santos is the only one that performed it on Olympics and Worlds?

  • Comment removed

  • its true, but for men its level 10, for women, its elite. sexist, i know.

  • not sexist. its a fact that guys have more power and you need alot of power for this move. girls are better at precision and stuff.

  • i was being sarcastic on the second statement xDD. sorry if it wasn't obvious D=

  • well i just typed 26 unnecessary words. and now, 16 words explaining how disgusted i am xD

  • It's true. Guys tend to have fast-twitch muscles, where as women have slow-twitch muscles, making men physically stronger by nature. Women have much more dexterity and precision than men by nature.

  • oh then thats very misleading

  • Post some video of them, then. I'd love to see it.

  • I wonder where did you take the idea that Daiane's temperament is extremely explosive??? She is very calm, easy-going girl, very very loved for her simpaty here in Brazil. I know that when she does a wrong step ou move she is angry, but always with herself. And she has a very very very explosive coach, if she was the way you said she wouldn't be working with him.

  • wow, G, F, F, D

  • i wish she did this routine at the 2004 olympics...she would have won gold

  • her arabian double layout looks more like a really nice arabian double pike...or at least a layout in, pike out.

  • If only she was born a man...!

  • her knees were bent on the double front layout

  • @koolios6251 Do you expect her body to be fully straight and do the hardest tumbling pass a woman has ever performed?

  • that was AMAZING.

  • No question the girl can tumble, too bad her choreography consists of a bunch of jumping jacks. Kinda takes away from the performance in my opinion.

  • that made me laugh really hard.

  • why?

  • i laughed at what can1052 said about her choreography, but because of how youtube displays comments it looked like i just said that, when in fact it was a response.

  • oh haha; kool kool

  • ha, this is a hilarious observation but come on, daiane is not doing jumping jacks.

  • It all looks so easy for her, I really believe she could be the best floor worker of this century so far if only she could control her immense power a bit better....

  • fantastic power.

  • She scored 9.737 at 2003 worlds!

In this competition she scored 9.762!!!

  • :45 - :47 love that. she is awesome! whats an arabian ?

  • Arabian are those two first passes that she did. It´s a half turn and double front "lay out" ou picked. Did you understand?

  • ooh wicked i see it now.. she does it effortlessly!

  • ela é brasileira..q orgulho!!

  • that's gymnastics!

  • What was the competition? and how much did she score? SHE'S ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! SPEECHLESS...

  • It was a world cup series in Germany (Cottbus), in 2004. She scored 9.737. It´s realy amazing.

  • Thank you so much. I guess 9.737 was probably her highest score ever under the old score system!

  • I read in international gymnast that she didn´t start gymnastics until age 11!! And now she is one of the best in the world!AMAZING!

  • that makes me feel good. i didnt start till i was 11. haha. but i dont go to a good enough gym. atleast im enjoying it and competing. go check out my videos! ive only done gym for 2 years.

  • isnt double arabian a skill called tamayo?

  • A Layout Double Arabian in the Mens Code is called the Tamayo. Its not official in the Womens Code yet (I downloaded the COP in Jan 2007 and it wasn't in there), but everybody calls it Dos Santos II as no other woman in my knowledge in Womens Gym has performed it

  • would it be correct to say that arabian double layout, arabian double pike, and arabian double summer sault are the most difficult tumbling passes for women?what about a quad twist? and what about that move liliya popdkapayeva did in 1996 where she did the half twist at the end?

  • Holycani, the double salto forward tucked with half turn (Podkopayeva) is regarded as an E-level skill in the actual code. I don't know if that's quite accurate, tough, 'cause I've never seen other woman performing it since Lilia, i.e., it should be more common as an E skill (full-twisting double back, triple twist, double arabian tucked etc.). Even other Ukranian gymnasts very good at forward tumblings (Karpenko, Kozich) didn't perform the Podkopayeva (Kozich does a double tuck forward).

  • the most difficult ("G" rated) fx skills to date would be a: double arabian layout, quad twist, double twisting double back, and the double layout with a full twist

  • wait WUT! DOUBLE DOUBLES AND FULL TWISTING DOUBLE LAYOUTS ARE THE SMAE SCORING?!

THATS OUTRAGEOUS, ONE TWISTS A WHOLE TIME MORE THAN THE OTHER (wait unless the double layout with a full is front tumbling... in which case you shoulda said front)

  • nope the chusovitina(1/1 twisting double layout) and the silivas(2/1 twisting double tuck) are both bwd tumbling. and i know that with the silivas u twist 2 times, but with the chusovitina u have to maintain a straight body. think about it, if the code made another diff. level (for ex. H), a 2/1 twisting double layout and a 3/1 twisting double tuck would have the same value.

  • oh, but wait if those are the G rated skills, what is a triple back?

  • whoops nvm thats only in MAG.

  • yep only guys have done that move, that would prob be an H or something lol. the first girl to throw one is gonna have to be one brave girl.

  • wait, a triple back is an h skill?

    i don't think so...haha

  • Double twisting double is done in tucked position.

  • Not always, look at paul hamm's old mount on floor, double double layout.

  • I mean for women

  • its finally in there. i dont see her name credited for it but the layout is under the piked version.

  • She moves like she has springs in her feet! I read somewhere that this girl can jump like 8 feet in the air!!!Double arabian layout...she is fabulous. I was very sad she didnt nail her landings at Athens.

  • Her tumbling truly is amazing, but I think one of the reasons that she didn't medal is because she is lacking in her dance skills...and even though her amplitude is amazing in her tumbling runs, she still lacks polish. Give her until Bejing...if Nastia Liukin nails her quad twist by then, and Daiane polishes her form and ups her dance level we will have one heck of a competition on our hands.

  • Arabian double layout!! This floor routine takes the cake -- it deserves a perfect 20 in the new code of point system.

  • how am I supposed to go on with my life. Honestly. Arabian double front layout. Daiane, you so crazy. I love you.

  • Indeed it was sad, she had all of the conditions to get the olympic gold! But most of the people doesnt know that she had her knees operated one month before the olympic finals! Anyway, a DOUBLE ARABIAN LAYOUT... nothing can be said about that... just too good.....

  • Wow she is crazy!

  • good grief! She is my favorite! I wish she had performed like that in Athens I was pulling for her to win the gold on floor. I hated ponor's routine.

  • Athens was realy sad. But she will keep training...Maybe in 2008 she gets a medal!

  • yea. i hated ponors routine. i also hated her beam. carly should have gotten beam and daiane should have gotten floor. athens sucked.
