  • Are favorites and playlist videos now automatically featured in the channel, alongside uploaded videos? I can't find customization options for this anymore.

• @grupwrk The new "new" layout (not the one shown here), will show public playlists as well as a "favorites" playlist on the "videos" tab. The only way to not have it show a playlist here is to make it private. For "Favorites" you have to disable the "favorites" setting in your Account's Sharing options. On the "featured" tab you can choose which playlists you want to show as featured playlists.

  • Hey would you be able to help me, when i try to edit my channel where the edit button is i click it but there apparently is no page? its really bugging me because i want to edit my channel

  • @SubjectNova The channel design shown in this video is now out of date. There are some annotations that I added that try to explain some of the changes. In this channel design the "edit" was done away with and everything that was within there was added as a button along the top. Much easier to use. The "New" new channel design (cosmic panda) adds back in an "edit channel" button at the top that then drops down a bunch of options...versus having the buttons shown all the time.

  • @SubjectNova Also, the "New" new channel design eliminates a lot of the customization capabilities that this change design had. YouTube is apparently now wanting all channels to look very much alike without many options for personalization (changing the colors, changing opacities, font colors, etc...)

Subscriptions.... So how do I get my friends back on my page?

  • @Zenuen The old "Friends" model is being phased out. Friends are being more merged with subscriptions. So no need for a friends module anymore. Check out your YouTube Inbox.

  • @Zenuen Oh... also you can convert your current friends over to subscriptions using the subscription manager. Go to your home page. You have a "feed" of your subscriptions uploads and activity in the center of the page, at the top of it it says "subscriptions" and then on the next line will say "xx subscriptions" where xx is the number of subscriptions you have. Click that line. This brings you to another page. In the top left corner click "subscribe" in the box that talks about friends.

Subscriptions.... So how do I get my friends back on my page?

  • And now there's all new channels....yay ._.'

  • Thanks so much for doing this. When you first come onto youtube and you can see all the videos that you subscribe to, how do you delete those. There used to be an "x" or something, but now my list is just getting longer and longer. PLEASE help me. This is driving me crazy.

  • @learningorganically I HAAAAAAATE IT. My sub box is getting sooo full.

  • How do I add my channel onto my website so viewers can view all videos right from our website.

  • @MegaMacccc That's not possible anymore... YouTube blocks iframes with YouTube channels within them. There are HTML code snippet around to add a channel widget to your website. You can also create playlists with your videos and embed the playlist in your website.

  • How do you change from a grey person to a real picture?

  • @Shadester101 Sign into your YouTube account. Click your account name in the upper right hand corner.

Click "Settings" from the menu. Click the "change" link underneath the grey man picture. Click the Change Picture button. Choose an option.

  • You know how when you first make your channel for your picture you have a grey person? How do you change that?

    Please tell me, ANYBODY!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Shadester101 see my reply.

  • Thanks for such a great video! Can you also direct me to a self help video which shows how to change the videos in your playlists? How to drag videos back and forth between different playlists? I can't seem to figure this out. Thanks so much

  • Thank you so much for the answer on how you made the video! I really appreciate it.

  • How did you actually make this video? Did you just have a camera in front of the screen recording it or is there some software tool that will capture it to a file which you uploaded? Thank you. Nice instructions!

  • @TheRonSeman Techsmith Camtasia to record the screen. Adobe Audition for the audio. Adobe After Effects for the edit, pans and zooms and time remapping (slowing down/speeding up).

  • Hi Eric, my channell views seized two days after subscribing, i cant understand why?

Could you shine any light on this? Thankyou.

  • @iancanoe1 You'll find as you use YouTube that there are a lot of latencies that occur with statistics such as channel view counts, video view counts and search results. They are not in real time and will only update periodically...this is normal behavior. They do this to optimize performance of some things such as the time it takes to return search results or to verify the legitimacy of views to keep everyone even and honest.

  • Found this video to be well done! Info very helpful!

  • Great Help Video!

  • Thanks for making this, I got my comment page back :))

    Susan

  • Great Channel. Everyone needs help at times.

I can't get my comment box back, I hit a setting a couple of months ago.

Do you know how I can get it back?

    Thank you

    Susan

  • @TrueBlueSue49 Comment box on your channel? comments in your video? For your channel, a couple of things to check. First click the "modules" button at the top of the channel and make sure that the comment module is enabled. Then in the comment module, click the "edit" there are options there to control who is allowed to comment. For videos, each video has options to set for if comments are allowed and who can make them.

  • @epontius Can I ask? What is the channel tags for? and How will I know that I am doing the right "tagging method" of the channel.

  • @MrDancewithme12 Channel tags just provides additional metadata to YouTube's search to allow people to find your channel. So if the bulk of your video content is videos about piano music, those might be appropriate tags along with other tags about the subject like instruments, classical, recital, keyboard, and so on. Just keep in mind that if you have less than 3 videos uploaded, the channel won't be included in channel search results even if you have great channel tags.

  • @epontius Ahh I Get it. You need to have more videos? btw thanks for the information :D

  • how do i change my channel comment color when i reply i cant see it. its clear

  • @babbabybwoo Me too! I can't even find the edit button on the top right of my channel page. I don't know why there are frequent changes made by Youtube.

  • @Azroypramlee the "edit" link has been replaced with the "videos and playlists" button.

  • @babbabybwoo ah..yes. Sorry about that. YouTube changed it to a more intuitive "videos and playlists" button shortly after this video was published. There are video annotations on the video noting that as well as in the description. There have been quite a few changes with YouTube since this video was published that I should create a new updated version or a series of videos covering specific areas.

  • Wow......having problems with "Featured Video", then chosinf "Other", then pasting the URL video that I want, hit "SAVE".....AND NOTHING! IT KEEPS DEFAULTING BACK TO "MOST RECENT VIDEO ADDED".....H E L P P L E A S E???

  • @fitztube4me You'll need to use the "long link" URL option. Find the video you want to feature, click the Share button and then click the "Show Options" link next to the url box. The last option in the list is for "Long Link" click it and the URL in the box will change to the longer format. Copy the URL and then paste it into the "Other" option in your featured video.

  • @epontius Umm, how about removing the featured video completely? ._.

  • @kim4321 That's a little more difficult. The featured player will always show a video whether it is from your uploads, favorites or a playlist. So if you didn't have any of those things...you wouldn't have a featured video. As a work around you could turn off your uploads, favorites and playlists in the Videos & Playlists and then select Grid view. You end up with a big empty space.

Only partners and brand channels have the ability to turn off the "video navigator" completely.

  • @epontius Oh, I see.

    Well, thanks ;3

  • @epontius Whew..thanks for that. That was a quite the hassle for something so simple.

  • @epontius Thank you so much!

  • Thank you very much for providing the up to date intelligent user instructions that YOU TUBE do not provide, much appreciated.

  • i am having the very same problem- cant change feature vid- it was no problem till recently

  • Thanks Erik....

  • Can somebody please HELP ME. I keep copying the URL for a video I want to feature on my page but no matter how many times I do it, it just WONT feature that video or any other. I CANT CHANGE MY FEATURED VIDEO and I cant find any related topics under help. I'm so frustrated at this point can someone please tell me why it isn't working?

  • @OpeningSalvoe YouTube recently changed the "share" button URL to shortened links....however, they apparently didn't update many features on their own site to accept them as valid YouTube video URLs. The Featured video "other" option is one of those things. So, until they update it, just copy the URL from your browser's URL bar instead... just make sure that you only copy the URL to the end of the video ID, just before the first & sign.

  • @epontius Awww thank you sir!! It worked. I really appreciate that. Thanks so much that was really pissing me off and I couldn't find any info relating to this problem under help. Can youtube find anymore ways of screwing up this site on us and making it even more difficult to use. You'd think they would've posted a bulletin about this. Anyway thank you for that epontius much appreciated.

  • copy the URL from your browser's URL, how u do that??

  • @bennydelaney08 Go up to the very top of your browser. Click in the box at the top and click and drag over the pat of the URL you want to copy. Then either CTRL-C (or cmd C on the mac) to copy. Alternatively you may be able to right-click in the box and choose copy.

  • what do u mean by browser?

  • @bennydelaney08 Brand new to the wonders of the Internet? What software application are you using right now to view this comment?

  • no but just no good with this kinda think can u till me again how to do it and thanks pal

  • @bennydelaney08 scroll up the page and read my instructions again.

  • the only url i find is under share thats why i dont do what to do after i read what u tell me to do..

  • @bennydelaney08 The thing you are using to view this page is your "browser" it could be Internet Explorer, FireFox, Opera, Safari, or any number of other "browsers". If you look at the very top of your "browser" near the top of your computer monitor, you will see a box that contains the URL.

  • @OpeningSalvoe i am having the very same problem- cant change feature vid- it was no problem till recently

  • @iamearthbornami Seems the "featured video" listing is now limited to showing only your uploads. If you want to feature a video that is not in the list (say from your favorites or elsewhere) copy the video URL from your browser's URL box at the very top of the screen. Then paste choose the "other" option in the featured video pulldown and paste it in.

  • Thanks a bunch, this really helped me out. I was so frustrated trying to get my new playlist to show-up.

  • omg THANK U!!! I've been tryin 2 figure out how 2 play a vid from my favs when I 1st get into my channel insteed of my uploads really helped thanx!

  • @thisislyss0505 You're welcome. Glad I could help.

  • Yeah but there is a glitch, I have done all the steps, and still YT says 'no videos were found' for the playlists...

  • @willszz May actually be a glitch. There is a bug whereby the uploads or playlists won't show up. Unfortunately for playlists, there is no fix that I know of. I would make sure that you have the playlist is public and checked in the box for playlists you want to show on your channel.

  • @epontius yep, thx anyway :) I put the lists public and checked the boxes, still doesn't show up...

  • @epontius No questions about it, it is schwacked.

I have 12 or so, arbitrary playlists up(maybe not arbitrary, i think they are the first ones I made, therefor the least organized, it took a little bit to work out a good organized system... which I can't actually implement...), of which I tried to arrange(successfully) in the hopes that it would allow my others to take up the other slots, but it was a no-go. the history of what I've done would take too much space to explain here though...

    /shrug

  • My shit don't look like this there is no edit button.....

  • @prodigyset420 Yes..some things have changed since this video was created. I've tried to update it where possible with video annotations. The "edit"link described in the video has been replaced with the Videos & Playlists button.

  • @epontius Yea thanks i found it LOL

  • how can i get a picture in my "box" u have a picture of your self. how can i get a picture there? please answer me, im bad at english but i hope u understud what i said :/

  • @dox167 Sign into your YouTube account. Click your account name in the upper right corner, then choose "Account" from the menu that drops down. On the Account Overview page, towards the upper left is box. Click the word "change" beneath the box. This will give you a could of options for choosing a profile image. Choose the option to upload an image and choose a picture from your computer. Pictures of 800x800 pixels work best.

  • @epontius thanks dude

  • The new channels still suck.

  • This was very helpful as I am just getting started with my channel. Thanks!

  • epontius i could really use your help. i just recently set up my channel, and have everything almost the way i want it. i have 5 playlists selected to show up on the channel but only 4 of the playlists will show up. i can not figure out how to get the 5th one to show up. it is the only playlist out of the five that has videos with uncensored content. is that the factor?

  • @dbacks6431 probably not. Are you sure that the playlist isn't private? Private playlists won't show up on the channel. Click you account name, then My Videos and then Playlists. Find your playlist on the list and click on it. Click the "edit playlist info" option at the top to expand it if it isn't already. Then make sure that it is public and not private.

  • @dbacks6431 nvrmnd

  • @dbacks6431 what was the fix?

  • @epontius i had that playlist set as private i guess

  • hey, how do you edit the channel link thingy?

  • @Aqua999amazing if by "channel link thingy" you mean the logo deals at the top of some watch pages... that's a feature that only partners have.

  • lets say you want to remove all your video's from your channel, how do you go about doing that please.

    anyone can help?

    thanks, =]

  • @vmkSAVAGEGUY You can sign into your account, go to your channel, click the Videos & Playlists button at the top and uncheck the box on the far left under "what content would you like to show" for "uploads". This will hide the uploads from your channel...but still be found in search. If you are actually wanting to delete them entirely... go to your My Videos, click the top most check mark to select all and click the Delete button. There is no going back. Once deleted they are gone for good.

  • nice

  • @realbizzybonefangirl I take that back... the fix involves being able to use the search box in the uploads module to locate your videos to add to the arrange uploads strip... however, playlists have no search box so the fix won't work.

  • @realbizzybonefangirl I don't think that that is your problem. There is a bug that occurs on some channels that prevents uploads or playlists from showing properly. You'll notice that if you click the "All" option at the top of the channel, that several of your playlists are showing, but when you click the "Playlist" option at the top, it tells you that no videos are found. I'll send you a private message with the steps to correct this problem.

  • Thanks man that helped!

But i still don't see how some people manage ot get pictures on the side of there channel that aren't their background (or don't seem to be anyway)?!

  • @BONES8593 Those are most likely Partners. The have an option for a Branding box, that is another module they can enable on their channels that can include a graphic and an image map for links.

  • @BONES8593 oh.... and if it is outside of the 960 pixel wide channel, it has to be part of the background image. Try right-clicking on an area outside of the channel, with some browsers you may have the option of viewing the background image or saving the image. Then look at the image....

  • @epontius Thanks a lot!!!

I did what you said the second time!

TBH i have found a layout that i like, and now i am going to go over the top of the pictures with ones i like lol!

And the really speedy reply is much appreciated!

  • how do you make a little textbox like in 3:04?

  • @Ostebugle That's a "video annotation." Go to your "My Videos" listing, find your video on the list and click the "annotations" button.

  • Thanks a lot!!

I had trouble with my playlists not showing up.

But, now it works, thanks to your video.!!!

  • thanks

  • how do u change the desgin from ur name next to the subscribe bar on these kind of videos but not from your channel page?

  • @Cprulz1234 The video page branding is only an option for partners.

  • @epontius how do u get to be inthe partners thing

  • @Cprulz1234 well...need to create videos that are of your own creation that are popular and gain a large following and then apply at youtube /partners.

  • how do you chang your picsher????

  • @abhishiak2222 Sign into your YouTube account. Click your account name in the upper right corner, then choose Account from the menu that appears. In the top left corner of the Overview page, click the "change" button just below the picture profile place holder. Then choose one of the options there such as uploading a profile picture from a file on your computer.

  • Hiya. Earlier on you had my comment about The tags that pop up on the screen. Where abouts on the screen is the edit annotations button ? Thanks

  • @TheDance4life1 Sign into your YouTube account. Go to your video's watch page (not the player on your channel) and up at the top of the page is gray strip that has an "edit video detail" button, next to that is a text link that says "edit annotations".

  • how do you have that blue box with the word in it above your video near videos and subscribe?

  • @INEParkour It's a video page branding. I have some branding options granted to me from YouTube for helping out in the Community forum. It's usually only granted to partners.

  • Do you know how to put your profile in the middle of your channel

  • @TheLOVEKISSME There is no authorize way to do that. The profile box and the video navigator are the only things that you can't move around on your channel. Anyone that you see that has moved it, did it by some sort of unauthorized hack and they could possibly be suspended.

  • Hiya. How do i add one of those tag things that add extra information ??

  • @TheDance4life1 Are you referring to the little boxes that pop up over the video? Those are Video Annotations. You can add them to your videos by clicking the "Edit Annotations" link.

  • @epontius Thanks

  • How can I have a video I did not upload to be my featured video, I remember I did that before.

  • @XD00155 Find the video you want to feature first, click the share button and copy the URL. Then go to your channel, click the Videos and Playlists button. Click the pull down for "Featured Video" and go all the way to the bottom of the list to find "Other". Then paste the URL of the video you want to feature into the box. Save your changes.

  • Man nice Video!

    I Just want to know that like you put a logo instead of your name (see on top of this video);

I want to do like that! So please Kindly Help!

  • @SaxamNanda That is a video page banner. A feature only available to partners and some people in the Individual Video Partnership (IVP) program.

  • @epontius Thanks for the reply bro! If you are talking thorught the adsense, then well i have it! If you can help me in making it, it would very kind of you! :D

  • @SaxamNanda Just having an Adsense account won't make you a partner or give you the ability to add this video page banner. Go to your channel see if you have a button for "Branding Options" on the far right side next to the videos and playlists button. If you don't you won't have the ability to add a video page banner. If you do, click the "Branding Options" button, then click the "Video page branding" button. You'll see instructions for creating and uploading a video page banner.

  • @epontius Well i cant see it! How come i can see it, so ass to do the banner thing! I mean is there any way to be a partner? I came to know that YPP Is Currently Invite Only! So I would Like An Invite! Please :D

  • @SaxamNanda You're on your own for that. You need to apply to be a partner. You can find more info at the YouTube /Partners site.

  • Do you know how to get a clear background?

  • @punkrockpanda10 Change the settings for "Wrapper transparency" and "Transparency" in your channel's "Themes and Colors".

  • @NaitTheKing

First, click on your user in the top right corner and click 'account.' Once you get to the new page, click on the icon that says 'Profile setup,' which is underneath 'pverview.' Once you've done that, there's a small icon that says either 'upload picture' or 'change picture.'

  • thanks this video answered my question

  • thank you for your response how can i change my subscribe name to (logo)

  • @captaan Your account name can't be changed. The only thing you can modify is the "Title" field which shows up above the line that says "(your channel name)'s channel". So right now mine says "Erik" and then underneath that it says "epontius's channel". To change that, sign into your account, click your account name, then "My channel" then click the settings button at the top. Then put what you like in the "Title" box.

The only way to change your account name is to create an entirely new account

  • thank you for nice comments, where is the edit channel button in my page.

  • @captaan The "edit" link was replaced with the "videos and playlists" button at the top of the channel. This was a change made a while after this video was made. There are video annotations on the video that try to point out some of the changes.

  • @BebihhBoo93 any videos that are "private" won't appear.

  • @NaitTheKing Sign into your YouTube account. Click your account name in the upper right corner. Choose Account from the menu that pops down. Under the "gray man" default profile image in the top right corner of the account settings, click "change" then choose the option to upload a picture. It needs to be really small...88x88 pixels.

  • Hey! I can't change my channel type still! :O

  • @CallingMilton What happens? Sign into your account, go to your channel, click the "settings" button at the top of the channel. There is a type pull down there.

  • @epontius Yeah i changed the type but its still not working

  • @CallingMilton What are you changing it to? It looks to be set to Musician at the moment.

  • @epontius I want it to be musician :O Is it really musiciian?!?

  • @CallingMilton Yes. Keep in mind that the channel "type" (musician, comedian, director, etc...) is not shown publicly on the channel.... Only the "style" is shown. The Style listing is in the Profile box on the left hand side of your channel and the contents of that listing vary depending on what "type" you have chosen. I can tell that your channel is set to Musician since the Style listed in your profile box is "R&B". Musician is the only channel type with "R&B" for a style.

  • Oh my god, I'm never gonna get all this shit !

  • Unfortunately something is wrong because I can only see 2 of my 5 playlists.

If I click on 2 different one, then none. So only those two.

Reason? I am not alone with this.

  • @zoldes Private playlists won't be visible...so make sure they are public. Also, you need to choose which playlists you want to display on your channel. Click the Videos and Playlists button and put checkmarks in the playlists you want to display.

  • @epontius thank you ! How much I looked for something like this, but in black letters it looks like a title not a link.

  • thx allot

  • thx

  • so i can only make a playlist if its only my uploaded videos?

  • @ThePlayasBeatz You can put just about any YouTube video you want into a playlist. When you are watching the video on its page, click the "save to" button just below the player... or click the +playlist button if you are viewing the video on a channel. Then select the playlist you want to add it to or choose to create a new one.

  • thank you SO much! i was like a blonde trying to figure out why my new playlists weren't showing lol, that woulda took FOREVER! thanks!

  • Thanks for posting this. It sounds silly, but I didn't have any luck getting my playlists to display on my user page until glancing at this video.

  • Where is the edit channel button on my channel?

  • @PlaystationArchfiend They did away with the "edit" link and replaced it with the "videos and playlists" button. There are annotations in the video and more info about it in the video description.

  • I did the exact same thing for adding someone else's video on my channel, but it doesn't appear in the sidebar. Will it be in the sidebar ever? Oh by the way, thanks for everything else!

  • @PlaystationArchfiend not sure I understand the question. You can favorite someone elses video or add it to a playlist. If the favorites are being shown on the channel, you'll see it show up there. If you don't see favorites you'll need to add it by clicking the videos and playlists button and then putting the checkmark in the box for favorites. Same for playlists and the specific playlist.

  • Thanks! This helps me out.

  • The other button seems to refer to other peoples videos or any you tube video to to used for my featured. I don't want that. What i want is one of my favorites which is not listed in the brief list that is there. I want to use one of my own for my featured but it isn't listed. How does one do that??

  • @woodlawn4623 all your own videos should appear in the list. You can use the "other" option and put in the URL to any YouTube video.

  • Teach me how to upload videos from youtube to my channel.

  • @489eagle click the upload button.

  • How do i link someones channel to my page...put them up there to show who i like?..ty alli :))

  • @Mrlandroverful You can do this with the "other channels" module. It's not shown in the video because it is a feature that was only recently added to general users accounts. Sign into your account, go to your channel, click modules button at the top and add the "other channels" module. Then click the edit link in the other channels module on your channel and type in the names.

  • yes!!!!! u did it!!!

  • thanks for taking the time to make this, it solved my issue :D

  • @chickenbiscito You're welcome! Thanks!

  • @epontius

no problem, definitely a huge help!

ill subscribe and rate the video to help your cause bro

  • I did the stuff you said but no videos or playlists will show.

  • @MrMarkPicklecorn I see a playlist on your channel with a video...which appears to be your own video.

If you want your videos to show make sure that you select "my uploaded videos" from the "Videos and Playlists" button's "Which content would you like to display?" box. You can also select which public playlists you want to show

  • what if someone don't have that Edit button on the top cause i dont have it.

  • @obanik No edit link any more. There are annonations in the video that explain that. YouTube actually did something that made sense and replaced the "edit" link in the video navigator with a "videos and playlists" button along the top of the channel where all the other buttons for customizing the channel are.

  • I don't see an "edit" icon. I have an "arrange playlist" icon. this new setup blows. I've been cursing up a storm trying to figure out how to actually play all songs within a playlist.

  • @NikoChanth No edit link any more. There are annonations in the video that explain that. YouTube actually did something that made sense and replaced the "edit" link in the video navigator with a "videos and playlists" button along the top of the channel where all the other buttons for customizing the channel are.

  • thanks! =)

  • my thing is stuck on the grid whenever I go to my channel. How do I make it stay to the normal one?

  • @naruto6871 It's covered right around 4:21 in the video. Click on the "videos and playlists" button at the top of your channel. Then choose "player view" from the "featured layout" option.

  • How did you get the Style feature on your profile?

  • @Jesse11spykid You'll need to change your channel type in order to choose a style. The default "YouTuber" channel type has no styles.

Sign into you YouTube account. Go to your channel and click the "settings" button at the top of the page.

On the left hand side, choose find the option for "Channel Type" and then select a different channel type from the list.

    The styles will
