  • Rakim is a legend and His legacies already set. Unlike the mainstream we don't just recognize Rakim only when old skool mixes drop, on the airwaves. We never slept on him, but the mainstream acts these veterans vanished or have retired. He still grinding making good music. They always say what happened to hip hop. That's true if your referring to mainstream hip hop. If your into alternative underground independent hip hop like Rakim, hip hop never died. Nowadays you have to dig for good music!

  • this video made me fall asleep for a second lol

  • thank you rakim for staying real and not ba a little rat choosing sides .

being pure is being new going with dre is working for a museum

  • Rakim need to become "reborn" and get with the current generation... 1. Get with Dre, 2. Get power, 3. Get money, then teach again...

  • Don't hate on Rakim or Dre, they have creative differences, so they shouldn't work together. They are both good (Rakim more dope imo) so who cares?

  • that how you hold the mic Shit Nigga take note nice Clear

  • He left when Dr Gay attempted to perform sexual acts on him

  • @FranciscoD0MING0 stop with this bullshit paranoid biz

  • yo if you guys get a min check out our channel

  • Rakim is the illest EVER

  • Maybe rakim can bring back real hip hop like it use to be. Almost all of todays hip hop is bull shit and yet it sells millions. WTF?

  • Ra's a douche sometimes, god no doubt, but too much integrity...gotta be a little flexible, comon, ra, if theres anyone who can get Hip Hop a nobel proze in nobel literature, its you. let em help you, if producers wanna chop some new shit up let em chop, theres not force on earth that can quake what you stand for

  • Sorry Dr.Dre bullshit cheap beat he was tossing Ra did not blend with his mastery.

Dre has a history of Signing Niggas only to have them sit in obsecurity until he find time to stop fronting. Remember 2pac said it takes 3 years for Dre to finish a fucking beat cause he be stunt with his ghost producers and writers..

  • Real talk man, Dre robbed niggaz of production credits. What more would you expect when a guy like Suge had his back. But he don't like it when it happens to him. DR DRE is a long time from Straight Outta Compton, Niggaz4Life and The Chronic. His new music is the weakest shit I ever heard. Case in point Crack a bottle for starters, goddamn that shit is wack.

  • hip hop = (beats, lyrics, clothing/items, graffiti, and dance) x (meaning and personal flavor) Why do we leave some of these elements out? like bboys. lol who do you think teaches the MC's generic easy to do dance moves? Instead we stick them in dumb teen movies where they save the last dance or .. fuck man, production value. These dancers are better than this. go ahead and youtube bboy. physicx and lilou among the most talented. the movie planet bboy depicts a journalistic view into its birth

  • Someone in the late sixties decided to crouch down and dance on the floor using their hands and feet.... but then they decided to stay down!

  • Look, this is the inside scoop -and it's real talk. Brother Rakim had been flirting with Dre's production for quite a while on and off, but when it came to attempting to fuse the lyrical content of Ra's natural swag with a contemporised gangsterfied theme, Rakim dropped out - gracefully, no doubt! Dre had a vision of bringing "a new Rakim" to the "now generation". He said that. And with this comes a sense of "selling-out" to one's identity. Ra has maintained his integrity. Gotta respect that!

  • @MrJazzHOP Na. That's just a shallow view. Being able to reach more, is always worth it. I mean... that's what It's supposed to be about.

  • @MrJazzHOP As long as you spit fire, I don't consider it selling out. At the end of the day, your skills prove who you are regardless, if you choose to make a commercial hit.

  • Always cool, always intelligent. Rakim exemplifies all the things great about Hip Hop.

  • The {King}of a MC!

  • leviathan .

  • Dre is a pawn for the machine and Rakim is what hiphop is all about

  • @SkiloSlim The Smartest shit anybody has said in this video.

  • well spoken..

  • why the fuck would you rap about killing someone.

I seriously dont understand that low brain level.

  • Dre drop the beat! you are a Master at that! and then SHUT UP and let the lyrical god MCEE take over! this would have bee a classic!

  • THAT WAS BEAST WHEN HE SAID "SHUT IT DOWN TSUNAMI IT OUT"

  • This is a perfect example of how Dre is an overrated producer. Why do I say that?? Well, a great producer knows how to allow the artist be who they themselves are as individuals, and not try to change them into something else.

  • jimmy ivine fucks dre in the ass

  • dudes illin!

  • I feel as though God is reaching out to Rakim. Take a listen to my songs & you'll understand the direction he is trying to take. Bottom line is there are 2 agenda's; God's Agenda & The Devil's Agenda. Dre wanted Rakim to Go with The Devil's agenda (killing people). Rakim was like no I want to talk about what's on God's agenda (bringing people back to life). May God save his soul if he hasn't done so already. Ya'll have eyes...open them. Ya'll have ears...listen up. Ya'll have minds...THINK.

  • It's not easy to work with artists , as a producer . A real producer is like a coach , he gots to make the artist see the bigger picture , and thats not always easy . Even if Dre is not my favorite producer , even though Ra is a legend , i bet Dre only wanted what's best for him , too bad it didnt worked out !

  • Dre is constantly gettin dissed and at the end of the day he is a modern day legend and it's a shame him and rakim didn't work together but they are still 2 absolute legends and don't knock either of them just coz they had a disagreement

  • Fuck Dre ya herad. Yeah I said it. West coast nigga would never really feel the Microphone Fiend. Dre made hits for lesser artists and could not make a smash eith the king of emcees?

  • If Dre didn't spend so much time on Eminem's projects him and Rakim would've made some classic shit for the hip hop listeners. Then again, Jimmy Iovine puppets Dre and tells him to make that pop shit and Dre do lol.

  • @Viewer305212

    Goddamn right. Fuck Iovine!

  • @max71461 I swear yo, these Jews take the Hip Hop culture and just don't know shit about it yet make MILLIONS off of it. No respect for the art

  • @Viewer305212

Word.Rakim left dre, bishop lamont left dre & raekwon left dre too.And all that because of Iovine. And now he tellin Dre to do pop songs like I need a doctor (which originally had lady gaga on hook). It's all about money & charts now dude lol

  • he looks like the local crackhead at the liquor store

  • That Rakim Dre joint WOULD OF BEEN SICK!!!!!! Gah Damnit......

  • It's prolly better for Ra when he left Aftermath.. Aftermath wasn't for him

  • dre and allot of these guys buy rappers contracts and just shelve their shit so they don't have any competition or any changes to the rap game. Dr dre is one of the guys who decides the direction of rap.

  • I love Hip-Hop I have my favourites and keep em to myself! Some of ya sound like children "He's the best" "So and so's better than him" STFU! and support Hip-Hop don't destroy it with hatred! ...having said that Kanye & JayZ suck a D!©K ;)

  • Rakim = greatest rapper ever to pick up the mic

    His flow is unparalleled

  • He left Dre cause he's not with that "Dip Stick Sh!t !"

  • You say Justin Bieber-I say Tupac

You say Lil Wayne-I say Biggie Smalls

You say Drake-I say Ice Cube

You say Soulja Boy-I say Big Pun

You say Gucci Mane-I say Rakim

You say New school-i say shut the fuck up

You say Pop-I scream Hip Hop!

You say Hannah Montana-i fucking punch you in the face

92% of teenagers have turned to New school and Pop.If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. Don't let the real RAP DIE

  • @B9King937 wat ever dawwg im done with you ur dismissed.!!!!! lol

  • Dre wanted him to talk about killing somebody, Rakim wanted to talk about bringing someone to Life - wow.

I have huge respect for the God MC.

  • @o2thaj619 yo dre were the fuck you find an anorexic rapper? talking bout who you gonna squabble with and who youll shoot you only 60 pounds when you wet and wearing boots. :)

    get owned snoop dogg

  • @spinbackremixes When you diss Dre you diss yourself

  • @o2thaj619 the part in the music video where they show a picture of him in his disco dress is priceless

  • I feel like ppl like Dre are commissioned to sign people like Rakim and make sure that they don't wake people up! (ex: Jay z- J Electronica)

  • im glad rakim didnt start doing gangsta rap dre should have done d.o.c type album with rakim

  • dre wanted homie, foundation true god mc to speak about killin peoples, brothers know doubt. people wake up and realise who dre work for yall

  • is it me or do all dudes from Brooklyn look exactly the same?

  • @Roklan2000 It's you. lol

  • @Roklan2000 if your referring to rakim he' not from bklyn...he's from long island...

  • @Roklan2000 They just look like they borough.

  • WELL OF COURSE Rah and Dre are gonna have creative differences -Dre's a fuckin DUMMY and Rakim is REAL HIP HOP. Let's not forget history- Rakim was an original architecht of this thing called Hip Hop on da East Coast, back in da 80's of what Dre's kind was trying to...COPY ON THE WEST! Come on yo...

On top of that, Dre sayin kill -what continues to bring our communities down, and Rah sayin bring to life- what brings our people UP and strengthens us to FIGHT THE SYSTEM!

  • THE GODFATHER OF RAP.....THE LEGEND....THE R....

  • killuminati all through your body blows like a 12 gauge shotty

  • Rakim is so Deep!!! I got a formula that would have worked perfectly with Rakim & Dre.....Dre drop a sick beat, shut up, and let the genius Rakim go 2 work lyrically!!! That is a formula for success!!!

  • @prityricky1

I wish I could thumb this one up more than just once. Right on. And Dre should know better. He does have an ear for good lyricists. The DOC, Snoop, Em, probably, CPO, and Above the Law. But he should more than most people, know about pressuring artists (Dre, remember Heller and Suge Knight? Learn from that, bro.!)

  • @mesmerizedbyamy1 Yep, plus I think it would have shown a maturity, and versatility in Dre to produce an album without the same ol gangsta rap theams that we are so accustom to hearing from him! He could have dropped a hip hop Jewell, if he would have let Rakim do him!!! I would have liked to think Dre was more versatile than that, but if he could not craft an album with the God than evidently not!!!

  • @prityricky1

I bet there's more creative diff. than Ra wants to say. Gotta love Rakim, he never disses anybody. Nowadays, you have droners (not rappers) always looking to beef with whoever and don't have 1% the talent it takes to make a decent diss (or any other kind of) track.

  • @prityricky1 Yep... master plan.

  • @prityricky1 you have got to be shitting me. big respect for rakim but dre got way more lyrical skill

  • @LinkinHamilton You have got to be kidding me! Dr. Dre has never even wrote his own rhymes! Thats a well known fact! He has always employed Ghostwriters. You can research it! Dre is one of the greatest hip hop producers ever, but to say he has more lyrical skill than the God emcee, Rakim is Ludicrous.

  • @prityricky1 buuuuullshit, no one can become as respected as dre in the rap game without writing their own rhymes, whatever you've researched is horse shit

  • @LinkinHamilton Do some research. Most of Dre's albums have been ghost-written by other MCs. Dre is a bomb-ass producer, but he isn't a writer. Jay-Z and Eminem both ghost-wrote for 2001.

  • @ShadyKnizzle as if i didn't know that :L but i know for a fact there are some songs he himself wrote that are the bomb so he's still a sick lyricist in my opinion, but yeah nothing on rakim

  • @ShadyKnizzle Shit, ghost-producers too! I watched it happen. If you're a new producer, the MOST you can ask for is like 7,500. Dre knows your shit is fire and offers 20,000 CASH for your beat. Anybody would take it. But you sign over ALL rights!! He re-mixes it and sells it for 250,000-500,000. Seen it happen a few times.

  • @MrKizerSozay Thats real talk! If you are lucky he he will buy your beat from you. He has also been known to steal other producer's productions & pass it off as his own. He did that to Daz, and countless others.

  • @prityricky1 I watched it happen to 50's Get Rich Or Die Trying album. Producer Neffu and Denaun Porter (D-12) produced all the hits on that damn album except "In the club". But Dre's name is all over the credits...LOL Neffu and then Aftermath President Big Chuck (Neffu's Uncle) left right after that album was released. Mel-Man left him the same way back in the day after Chronic 2001.

  • @MrKizerSozay I believe it! He has been accused too many times of doing it, & too many producers have "jumped ship" over the years, because an artist liner notes "accidently" credited Dre as the producer of somebody elses beat! Lol. Thanks for keeping it 100 and telling what you saw.

  • @MrKizerSozay Damn... I tried to tell that to a few dudes on another Dre video and they shot me down lol!! There was a article in the source years ago with all of the in-house producers he had. Heff-U being one of them along with Eric B. Dre stay taking dudes credit for tracks by giving them scraps. Thats why i never really was big on dre as him being the greatest producer...

  • @LinkinHamilton Ice Cube & D.O.C. were writing all of N.W.A. rhymes( not Ren's). Snoop, RBX, & D.OC were writing his rhymes during the Chronic days. Jay-Z wrote " Still Dre", Eminem has wrote 4 him & countlesss others. The reason he is so respected is cez he is a GREAT PRODUCER & good coach in getting the kind of lyrics out of the artist whom actually write his lyrics. Do a google search & look it up. This is a well known fact, but I can tell U would refuse 2 believe it even with evidence.

  • hahahaha im from cali homie and i bump dre but your trippin if you think dre has more lyrical skill then rakim.

  • @epidemic818 read all the comments i've written. i admitted i was a dumbass for saying dre's better

  • bottom line rakim should have hooked up with premo, pete rock, ski, stoupe, scram jones, rza etc! whats wrong with NY cats today they need to bring that boom bap sound back & stop jocking the south LOL!

  • Comment removed

  • Rakim is the jewel in the crown of Hip-Hop: he shines gold and can spit to one hand clapping if need be! Dr Dre would have been bad medicine for Rakim, the witchdoctor of transcendental DOPENESS; the fact that the "R" bowed out gracefully is full props to him. Prophet V's Profit....Rakim chose Prophet, or the prophet chose him, either way, he is the heavyweight champion of the game, nuff said. Peace out my brother and flow forever.

  • Water and oil do not mix. Rakim possesses a level of consciousness that Dre would love to dampen. There is a gulf between producing beats and artistic lyrics, when they converge it can produce a good or bad result. Much respect and love to Rakim for standing firm on his values and standards. Dr. Dre isn't fit to tie the man's shoes, the song that represents his life might be partly representative of reality, but for the most part it is part of the problem.

  • If Rakim were more succesful than Dre, Wayne, Khalifa etc. . . .

Most of people would see rap and rappers like art and music, not like a smoked-drunked assholes who don't know nothing and do it for money. . .

  • @ZeOgrobe its way too many motherfuckers that looks over that, & i think its really fuckin sad. Rakim's, Run DMC, Wutang, The Fugees & all most of the other dudes from the early to late 80s & 90s were really the main reasons why i really wanted to start writing music. I'm only 20 goin on 21 & i kinda feel like The Game how i just don't wanna co-exist with none of these sucker-ass motherfucking fake only for the money type rappers who dont talk about nothing of today, man.

  • @ZeOgrobe Rakim is like The Ozzy of Hip Hop where Run-DMC was like The Beatles of Hip Hop. Nobody gives these legends the recognition they truly deserve. Rakim was the most lyrical emcee in his prime and still one of the best up into his 40's today. Time hasn't eroded his ability that much, (see The Seventh Seal). That album was better than 90% of material coming out in 2009. Props to "The Godemcee"

  • Rakim has got to be top 7 best hip hop artist of all time

  • @kobe24mvp81 7?? omg.. 1,2 maybe 3..

  • @rawencrow (No Order) Nas, Pac, Big, Em, Big L, Lupe, Rakim...also wanna add Common, Mos, Talib, Andre3k, Pun, Immortal...too dam many

  • @kobe24mvp81 nobody cares about yo list... to each his own

  • @kobe24mvp81 haha hes first, don

  • when I first heared about rakim and dre I thought this is going to be da shit but now looking back like ra said'' Im rappin bout life(POSITIVE) and dre wanted me to rap about death(NEGATIVE).

  • when I first heared about rakim and dre I thought this is going to be da shit but now looking back like ra said'' Im rappin bout life(POSITIVE) and dre wanted me to rap about death(NEGATIVE).

  • what is the name of the son in 0:22 pls tell me

  • @dpgs100 Rakim - its nothing. produced by Just Blaze

  • The true real deal, not a BS FAKE

UNITED by colors where the paint dont flake

The PURE element of Hip Hop's here

The ONE creative culture with atmosphere

Respect Rakims wisdom as the rhymes they flow

& PEACE / LOVE & UNITY wil surely grow

  • thats weird how one of the greatest mc and the greatest producer didnt have chemistry in the studio

  • If your a real and old school hiphop fan you will respect what i do..True NewYorkCity hiphop..check my channel respect real hiphop..Peace..Al Niks..1000

  • ATTENTION ARE YOU THE GREATEST , RAPPER , SINGER, DANCER, MUSICIAN , BEATMAKER IF SO MAKE ME A FRIEND ON FACEBOOK JAVON HUNT

  • Eric B & Rakim should have had a HUGE Production that should have rival'd anybody today.....But unfortunately theres a difference between being an Artist and A Producer...

  • if hip hop is 2 survive we need to take out th lil payne in its ass

  • "I wanted to talk about bringing somebody to life on this one."

I got mad respect for Rakim.

  • Rakim will never stoop down to Dres level.... If you listen to Rah's songs he never swears or talks about fucking, smoking and killing... And still sounds more gangster than Dre ever did...

  • Dre not being open minded enough to share compatible ideas with a golden age hip hop legend like Rakim was just the beginning now look how wack Detox is gonna be, what the fuck happened to Hip Hop seriously, where are the sane artists that wont jump on VMA stages and interrupt speeches, sing and make that corny dance hop ringtone club garbage

  • @BeenaBee i agree but i liked it wen odb interrupted the grammys but odb wasnt disrespectful puffy is good but wu tang is the best is not a disrespectful comment cos we no wu is light years ahead of puff daddy

  • @BeenaBee , LoL I agree man! detox is gonna be sour as hell to I heard he has lil wayne & company is supposed to be on there so much for bringing the west coast back LOL! & hes been out of touch with his beats for a while now also!

  • Fuck ads

  • what's the name of the song from 0:22?

  • Example of being a professional, rappers today don't understand that....

  • dre iz dre and rakim iz rakim

  • TELL EM' RA.....

  • If dre just stuck to making RA's beat , they could undoubtly create the most beautiful hip-hop song of all time. It would be a fucking smash man, it would fucking destroy the music industry from the roots. Rakim made this music and nobody is paying homeage to him.

  • Gotta love Rahkim. One of my fav old skool rappers. Even if he did give into Dre's creative control and formula, the track wouldnt have sounded right coming from Rah. We would have been calling him a sell out! lol Thanks Rahkim for staying true to hip hop!!!

  • A large number of rappers on the scene today are confirmed gang members. Crips, Bloods, and everything in between. Many of which have values that are utterly sinful, materialist, and violent. I stopped listening to rap music and started listening to gospel. James Fortune & FIYA have a lot of good things to say and represent values that black people need to aspire to. Real Talk...

  • Peace

  • Both different, but I wouldn't change them in any way. Rakim god of spiritual Hip-Hop.

  • jesus christ i want some of that weed he's been puffin on, shit

  • i like how inspite the diffrences between them he doesnt talk shit about Dre..Rakim has a good heart

  • Dre and Rakim creative differences? The difference is Rakim.

  • Absolutely flawless flow: I'm still astounded by The R's fluidity on the mic - for God's sake, this man (no, God) is still laying untouchable scripts, and quite frankly, I haven't seen Rakim defeated (or even benignly scraped) in a friendy-freestle battle. Live, he's indescribably DOPE! Never seen nor heard a brother spit like he does: the Ali of Hip-Hop with a Tyson hook for good measure. Follow the leader indeed!

  • Ra ... Real Spiritual Man ... WOW! God is Awesome!

  • did dre sell his soul

  • @englishpiff yes

  • Why the fuck is everyone on that sellig ur soul to the devil shit?lol Ur soul isnt yours to sell. That shits jus not possible..

  • @jokes151 Agreed. I think they just mean that they're selling out to the business.

  • Why the fuck is rihanna in this bitch swear to god!!!!!!!!! Man fuck this bullshit

  • dre makes most people look dumb. that simple/

  • rakim got such a smooth flow

  • got it. it's after you die.

  • what about the song on 2:38 what was that? thx

  • Rakim has never been a thugged out gangsta rapper and sold his soul to the devil for money like so many of today’s rappers...he raps for the love of the art and culture...Dre on the other hand comes from that ghetto gangsta click that spawned NWA...the 2 were incompatible nuff said...

  • @Blitz3677 how the fuck do you go about selling your soul to the devil cus i would do that any mother fucking day just like have him flip a coin if its heads i become a bad ass on earth and tails i become satans bitch just wondering ya know think about that shit a little more instead of just saying something cus everyone else says it

  • @Blitz3677 dre didn't spawn NWA eazyE did u stupid fuck

  • @Blitz3677 FYI Eazy-E and Mc Ren where the ONLY gangstas in NWA, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, those two where the studio gangtas, It's funny how Dr. Dre soared to the top of the music industy and Eazy-E? Dead, Mc Ren? Underground, maybe Dre did sell his soul.

  • @Blitz3677 DRE ISNT AND WAS NEVER A GHETTO GANGSTA DRES A SHEEP FOLLOWER "WHILE RAKIM FOLLOWS HIMSELF" CHEEZ I LIKE THAT ,!DRE AINT REAL

  • @Blitz3677 Actually before NWA Dre came from a R&B group that was harmless.

  • @Blitz3677 Bro, if I had said it first I would not have altered 1 word, and I think that's why he has prevailed, is because he does it for love first, the money is just a by-product. Peace.

  • @Blitz3677 so ur saying m.o.p have sold there souls to the devil?

  • @Blitz3677 he has enough money already...

  • @Blitz3677 Dre Was Never Gang Related...Nuff Said

  • @Blitz3677 dr dre was a studio gangsta actually. his first group was world class wreckin cru were they used to dress like women for laughs

  • @Blitz3677 what do you mean by "sold his soul to the devil"? is that like some kind of metaphor?

  • the song was "its nothing"

  • @gomets3277 at the beginning i mean

  • definition of a real rapper

  • FUCK U ADVERTISMENTS!!!!

  • @coastin96 what advertisements? i got adblock from google chrome

  • what song is that at 0:25, please

  • haha dr dre told him what to say? he dont do that with eminem eminem just comes with it and if dre dont feel it and eminem does then eminem is gonna say o well dre im putting it out

  • @stacks6969allday Dre Knows Slim can take care of his own music He knows he is the Goat

  • @TagzBloody He's one of the best in the mainstream but you really should broaden your horizons if you actually think Eminem's the single greatest to ever do it. There have been plenty of artists that are faster, better at singing, had a larger impact on the world of hip hop, changed the way artists rap, and show more lyrical prowess. He's a great artist, don't get me wrong, but he's not the single best.

  • Check out New Music From the 313..... Tony Pro- Cold World.....Karuso -Gangsta... On MTP Records....!!!!!

  • wat song was dat :O

  • understand what it is know what it is

  • @azamatone he doesn't seem angry but he does seem serious. He just takes his music seriously I guess.

  • @facymera lol

  • Rakim is the GOAT. Why shouldn't he take his music seriously? If you want half ass rappers there are tons to choose from.
