North Korea relies heavily on aid and trade, so if the countries of power sat down with North Korea stating they would cease to assist unless the human rights violations stop, then North Korea might actually be forced to fix some of the many problems.

No modern Greek believes in them literally. NK's don't believe in their state myths literally. It's a gesture of placing their dead dictator on the same level of honor as their national myths. His body is is embalmed and viewed by NK visitors playing respect to dead leader at Kumsusan Memorial Palace.

2. Abolitionism originated from Christianity. In fact, the main reason for the Civil War was that Northern Christians thought slavery was wrong.
3. Christians respected women significantly more than others did back then. In fact, a reason why Jesus' ideals were so controversial was that he accepted women.

Atheism is a belief? Most atheist scholars define atheism as a lack of belief due to lack of evidence. Atheists or theists should be judged on basis of their actions not based on their particular belief or lack of it. There has been genocide in both Rwanda and Congo with several million deaths by non-atheists. But atheism or not is not the point. None of the countries above did any of the atrocities in the name of ___fill in the blank.
Interestingly 0.2% of the american prison population are atheists, 10% of the nation as a whole are atheists.

Even being caught in possession of any religious symbol or being accused of being associated with anyone who is not an atheist will get you arrested and sent to prison camps. You should go to Sweden where I live, with ca 85% athetists, low crime rate, and according to many the most democratic country in the world. We also have the highest GDP growth among western countries in Europe.

Basically all communist dictatorships are about POWER for the elite, not the well being of the people. Kim Jong Il, a dictator would not want to compete with a "god" for attention, so they abolished religion. It's really that simple. Kim Jong Il wants absolute power, but with churches or other organizations his stranglehold over the country would be less.

Forcing people to believe? thats an under statement. salvation is not about making friends or making an image. I know salvation is not about making an image, but the image is what helps people believe in a religion. If you scream out telling nonbelievers that they're going to hell for their evil deeds, they'll think you're crazy and won't take other Christians they come across seriously.
