I know i´m going to have a lot of haters but Clapton couldn´t light a candle for Page ...
BTW Clapton is nothing compared to EVH , Page , Randy Rhoads , i know what you´re going to say right now , but he´s a blues player ... so SRV is WAY better than him as well
Easy does it baby nice and slow....I'll take you anywhere the four winds blow....Liked it from the first time I heard it when CD first came out....magic. Thanks for posting it. Brings back some great memories....
Out of all of the post Zeppelin solo efforts from Page, Plant, or Jones this album is by far the best IMO and the closest to Led Zeppelin sound you are going to get. Page showed he could still write some killer riffs and solos. And Coverdale's vocals are perfect with Jimmy's guitar. This album was way underated and could have fit right into the Led Zeppelin catalogue because it's that good. Coverdale and Page also have like 5 unreleased songs and 2 of them are on here. Both are awesome.
@zepsdbest nobody is anyone else and there is no best in music ...only opinions and favorites.....i'll take Zappa over both,so it's all taste man.....they are all great-
i will weigh in on the Clapton/Page debate. they are of totally different approach. Clapton's playing is very careful, studied, precise. Page's licks are often of a more unique phrasing, and he is not afraid to be "sloppy" (loose) in his solos if the feel is right. personally, i prefer Page. however, my fave post-Zep Page is neither this, nor the Page/Plant "Walking Through Clarksdale", but Page's solo "Outrider". i wish he'd put out more instrumental stuff...cheers
Also, Jack Bruce sounded a little bitter when he spoke down about Page at the Zep reunion show. While music is subjective and you could argue who is the better technical player. Jimmy's superior ability to arrange and create "light and shade with the guitar" as he put it in the documentary, "It Might Get Loud" is undeniable.

I can't help but think how this song would've sounded, If Jimmy had brought this song to the table with Zeppelin in say 1972-73. I wonder what Plant's vocal interpretation of this would have been back then.
@ljfkjgfkjgv I agree! Page pretty much wrote what became metal! clapton really didn't have any riffs that wanted me to make me pump my fist in the air! but thats me!
@zoso426 I could have agreed with you until I listened to the earlier clapton stuff, Cream, Blind Faith, etc. I still prefer page than clapton but as Page genius lies in his "magical riff" sense and his nervous and subtle lead guitar, Clapton's one lies in the way he makes his guitar weeps in a simple, effective and powerful way. Their lead guitar both have "great tone" to me. They're just different and as you said it's up to the musical taste of each one of us ^^
I seen page play and clapton play. I have to say as far as playing ripping smoking leads. clapton has him hands down.but i like all pages music. I only really like that cream stuff clapton did. even though when i seen him in 1990 with srv. he was rocking out every song.great player but not nearly the song writter page is.
So strange, because I differ from you, but have a similar opinion! Just for me, I see Page over Clapton... But wtf?! We're both just different individuals! With a different taste! That's what makes music unique! I just hate arguers of music and lists of the best of the best! Because there ain't no best! Every guitarist sucks and are the best depending on anyone's opinion.
It's a shame these 2 giants of rock didn't make more music together. These 2 showed a great display of talent... something that lacks in today's music.
what else should one expect when guitar legend i.e JIMMY PAGE combines with one of the most gifted people to ever have held the microphone i.e DAVID COVERDALE ? i'll tell you what to expect ! SOME FUCKIN LEGENDARY "ROCK N ROLL" !!
Excelente versión de Coverdale and page, hace recordar las epocas de Led zeppelin III ó Physical Graffiti, la verdad cuando escucho juntos a David and Jimmy, no extraño para nada a Plant.
I think Clapton is a more consistent guitarist, but Jimmy Page is a better song writer for sure.

Page is one of the greatest guitarrists and musicians ever.
In this awesome (and underrated) album, he shows who's the responsable for that unique magic atmosphere that Zeppelin had.

It's actual standard tuning this song. Does sound pretty exotic though cos of JP's inventive use of chords and intervals. Classic Page!
