  • I never know that Skip James did a great cover of the Robert Petway song.

  • one of those pics was mississippi john hurt

  • I could never even imagine in my wildest dreams to possess even half the talent as skip....

This song has always been my cornerstone to what I aspire to accomplish, ................................................if I'm lucky.

  • true blue...............

  • the intro, hes playing piano on the Guitar, anyone here ever plucked the strings on a piano? thats what it sounds like Skip James was so real....its almost un real.

  • What a fantastic song. Almost makes me wish I was born in Mississippi in 1902, just for the slightest chance to meet this guy and hear him play.

  • Jimi Hendrix does a great version of this great song.

  • Yeah, I know. I live in Mississippi. Saltwater catfish are also called "Turdheads". That kind of foregoes any impulse to eat one. The point I was addressing was the "catfish are freshwater". I just mentioned that there are saltwater catfish as well. ;)

  • There ARE salt-water Catfish. Sorry.

  • @MarvinPGardens not the kind they eat in mississippi

  • Son of a Gun, some real freakin' music, without all the Hollywood glitz and glam. The Lord likes purity and this is as pure as music gets. Monumental tune. Bless all that enjoy this tune and that tap into the higher consciousness. Much love to all, babes.

  • Never caught a dolphin!

  • man that music has feeling

  • catfish are freshwater :S

  • catfish are freshwater..

  • @bugz000 hed be the only catfish

  • I'm not a big blues listener and only found out about this after hearing Jim Hendrix's version. My God, this is so good.

  • this and that jimi hendrix one are not even really the same song

  • @AgentCarter your right this one comes from the depths of a bluesman soul. it makes you feel something the way jimi never could. jimi loved rock more than blues

  • @zrocks2001 thats true, but thats not what i meant. i was more referring to the fact that the melody of this song isnt the same meoldy as the song hendrix sung. so literally, they arent really the same song.

  • mississippi john hurt at the end

  • really enjoyed this!!!!

  • This is amazing!

    A classic off the bat

  • One of the great bluesmen. It's like a fine wine, you need to get used to it first. Like a cigar. Unlike the music that dominates the charts today. They are like cheap fixes. Makes me smile to see some positive comments here though hehe!

  • One of the pics is of son house. thanks for the tune tho :)

  • God played his part in this tune! and i'm not a religous person.

  • Beautiful stuff !! RIP

  • Wow. The more I listen to Skip, the more I'm liking him. And you're right, Gremz; that's Son House

  • This track made me pick up fingerpicking guitar. Can't go back to bland strumming accompaniment after listening to this.

  • At 1:30, that looks like son house...

Either way, this has now become my fav Skip track...

  • @gremz01d

that's indeed son house, i'm sorry my fault,

but it's still a beautifull song .. i whould say!

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!
