It's not quite strange that they ripped off this riff, since Judas Priest were playing heavy metal long before Iron Maiden were formed, let alone their decision to leave punk and turn to metal. Iron Maiden are a great band, but they cannot stand up in the same level with Priest: when the latter are inspired by a band's song, they perform a cover of it and don't copy it. Nonetheless they are the metal gods, since their influence is everywhere.
All the twin lead style is derived from Wishbone Ash (or prove me wrong) anyway. I just started listening to Judas Priest's back catalogue and they were the first band that came to mind. Maiden I love and have also been influenced significantly by Wishbone Ash. Ask them if you see them!
Steve Harris project started in 1971 and Masterpieces such as Transilvania, Phatonm Of the Opera, etc., were created in 1972, and judas priest in 1974 just beginning to make commercial music with their first album "rocka rolla", and on the other hand that riff is very common in many rock bands. So it's ridiculous to say that, especially considering that doing heavy metal of the purest form are Iron Maiden before Judas Priest.

It's not quite strange that they ripped off this riff, since Judas Priest were playing heavy metal long before Iron Maiden were formed, let alone their decision to leave punk and turn to metal. Iron Maiden are a great band, but they cannot stand up in the same level with Priest: when the latter are inspired by a band's song, they perform a cover of it and don't copy it. Nonetheless they are the metal gods, since their influence is everywhere.

Steve Harris project started in 1971 and Masterpieces such as Transilvania, Phatonm Of the Opera, etc., were created in 1972, and judas priest in 1974 just beginning to make commercial music with their first album "rocka rolla", and on the other hand that riff is very common in many rock bands. So it's ridiculous to say that, especially considering that doing heavy metal of the purest form are Iron Maiden before Judas Priest.

@nevets0910 wishbone ash was the main influence otherwise they wouldn't have ended up with the duel guitar harmonies (if you don't believe me, watch the interviews with steve on the early days dvd) also the band did not design the cover, derek riggs did so priest may have influenced them, or may just be a name of rock band at the time, to decorate the cover, i don't exactly hear any AC/DC going on in their songs but they're still on the cover, can you explain that...

@nevets0910 yes there name is on the cover but it could be for decoration, AC/DC is on there but i don't hear influence from them, and it was derek riggs who designed the cover so it didn't have to be influences it could just be bands that maiden liked at the time, also wishbone ash is a massive influence on them, just watch the interviews on the early days dvd, without them, there would be no harmonizing guitar, so there's no point trying to cast them off because there name's not on the cover.
