If you want to convert mkv to dvd, I suggest using the program "ConvertXtoDVD".

If you want to convert mkv to avi or any other format, I suggest " OJOsoft Total Video Coverter"

I take it you have installed your nero and it works as a stand alone program.

So I suggest you un-install Shrink and re install & then reboot your pc. Also if you are using Windows 7, you will need to d/l the latest version of Shrink ...look at earlier posts to see where you can d/l it from.

That's 'cause you used an OLD version of shrink. DVDShrink 3.2.0.15 is windows 7 compatible tho personally I have used DVDFab 6 fOR the last few years and it will copy ANYTHING

thanks i got nero 7 working now but ive been copying ntsc discs and everytime i do one it says change region to region 1 but can only do this another 4 times ive done it three times now if i do it one more time will it not be able to change region anymore or will my drive only work will with region one discs cheers .

Uninstall  then re-install the software. Also you need to have a burning program like Nero installed

DVD shrink is for COPYING DVD's. You don't mention what format the movie you downloaded so I will assume it's either avi or mpeg. If you want to create a dvd from the file, use windows movie maker if you don't have any video editing software,

If you don't have movie maker, download it free as part of the "Windows live" package

No you will not fit 5 45 min avis onto 1 dvd 4.7g.

The max i have fitted is 3 tv episodes. You can put 3 on 1 dvd & the other 2 on another disc,

or you should be able to fit them on an 8g dual layer disc.

Also I use DVDFab 6 as it is better than dvd shrink

I do full disc back ups with no compression, quality is great n i have menu function..everything. But the audio is a lil out of sync and this happens with every movie.  I can fix this with shrink by editing the start time of the video, but when you reauthor with shrink you lose the menu functionality. Someone smart plz help

Shrink will only create a video_ts file which varies from 1.8gig to 4.4gig.

You can extract the avi file from the dvd with many video editing programs + I recommend Windows movie maker to compress video files without losing to much quality and thus making it easy to upload to utube

I would try Shrink ( there is a newer version than 3.2) as it is free.

If you have difficulty with it, then get DVDfab There are some excellent tutorials on DVDFab here on utube already which is why I have not made 1

Shrink only copies a dvd. If you have them episodes on the 1 disc then sure, Shrink should copy the disc for you and it will be the same as the original, only compressed to fit on a 4.7 gig disc

Shrink copies a full sized dvd & "shrinks ...that is compresses" it so it will fit onto a blank 4.7dvd.If you have your own avi or wmv files you wish to compress, I suggest using Windows movie maker as it does a real good job on compression without to much quality loss

Shrink will only copy DVD's. I use ConvertXtoDVD to create DVD's from avi's e.t.c. It's very simple to use & you can add srt files (subtitle files) along with your avi for non English movies. Cool program

Can you burn .avi or .wmv files to dvd then have them work on a dvd player? Reason i ask is because i've been using windows dvd maker but it really isn't working for me (i set it to burn to 16:9 widescreen but it will always burn to 4:3, extremely annoying).

It will depend on the speed of your processor ie: CPU So if

your CPU is old and say 1.2mhz,it may take a few hours.

I have a 3.8 mhz with 4 gig of ram and it will encode in around 20 min

I have never encountered this problem so not really sure why this maybe happening.

All I can suggest is that shrink is a very old program now and can't handle a lot of new encrypted media. DVD Fab is a much better program, Simple to use and has a near 100% success rate in conversion. I haven't made a tutorial for it as there are a few good ones already on you tube. Sorry I can't assist you any further than this recommendation

from the limited info you gave me, I can only think the disc you were burning yo is either corrupt or check to see you didn't leave a finger print or some dirt/scratch on it

or if you are asking about the conversion,maybe you have limited disc space.

Dvd43; it helps decode it. DUH!!!! you just pop in the disk and dvd43 goes to work. Once the smiley face turns green. Its ready to burn it WITHOUT a problem. yes, DVD43, its awesome.

Shrink doesn't work ON EVERY DVD. If you have an error, try using dvd de-cryptor first ( see my tutorial on DVD De-Cryptor) or like me these days, use DVD Fab instead of shrink ...It's a better program and I have never encounterd a dvd it wont copy

There are many DVD rippers available o/l that will let you rip the avi file from a dvd.

Yes Shrink has a "slider " which you can use to custom how much you want to compress tho the more you compress the more quality is affected. If it is an avi or mpeg filey you want to compress, I suggest using the Windows Movie Maker as this has an excellent compression/quality ratio

Shrinks default storage is on the C: drive so go My Computer/ C : / then look for the folder with the name of your movie or type name of movie into Start / Search for Programs & Files

Shrink creates VOB Files that then get burnt on to disc..These get stored temporarily on your hd.

You will find them C:/in a folder with the name of the movie you copied.You can open them with VLC player to watch the movie.If you wanted the avi, you need a dvd ripper .Google DVD ripper & there are many to choose from

What I do is use a dvd ripper to extract the mpeg or avi file and then use Windowa Movie Maker to select & produce the scene I want

When you copy with Shrink, it auto creates the vob files.If you want just the avi file, watch my tutorial on Eazy vcd which shows you how to rip the avi.There are heaps of programs that do this.Just google "how to rip avi from dvd" to find alternative programs.
