The rail lifted off initially because the nose broke off (which has the wing on it that keeps down force on the front of the rail). It would have been due to the chassis being riddled with hairline fatigue cracks near the nose where most of the flex takes place. Poor crack examining and testing is the first mistake made by the crew. I am no expert and all that is obvious to me. Definitely one of the luckiest crashes I've seen, especially to be walking away with only a small burn on one finger.

I dunno. It LOOKS horrific, but considering what happened in the crash, it's really not a huge deal. A lot of rolls, a brief fireball, and a *relatively* soft collision. Seeing some of the crashes where they go headfirst into a concrete wall and go from 140 MPH to 0 in 100ms is way worse.
It is debatable all of those creashes were bad, but I think a guy hitting the guard rail at nearly 280mph head on.........to me it is the worst crash without someone dying.
Cool crash glad he walked away(is that a plug?). But not the worst crash ever. Jerry Caminito's crash in Memphis was much worse. He hit a wall at 280 mph and lived.

working at a track, i've seen my share of wrecks from the top end and back at the line. i would say the sound of the motor during a crash is the most eriee part.
2 things to mention. 1. Being that those dragsters are built so safely he likely only had very minor injuries from a crash like that. 2. Someone needs to tell that dumb bimbo that it wasn't the fuel that caused the explosion, it was the supercharger slamming into the wall. Anyone who knows drag racing knows that the fuel compartment is in the front near the front wheels, which came off the car and was fully intact.

these cars are safer than normal pedestrian cars. he has a seat belt like no other a baddass helmet and a cage surrounding him. a car getting hit going 20 in the street has better chances of killing somone than this. hes in metal pod people

That was pretty bad. Glad he was okay. I wouldn't necessarily call this the worst, though. If you are talking top fuel, look at Tony Schumacher's wreck. Funny cars....maybe Scott Kalitta's fatal crash. Pro Stock, Bruce Allen. These are all really bad ones. I'm glad this guy is okay though.

@soultaker704 Research before posting stupid comments. The downward slope starts after the 1320ft, that's the braking area. Willowbank Raceway slopes UPWARD by one degree, as is allowed by ANDRA rules.
Go back to playing Runescape.

@tombayly13 ha. u think he actually grows the carrots? he owns the company. and they arent just some small time grower either, they sell to most of australia. therefore he is a rich man that pays people to do the hard work. hardly laughable, id love to be in his position
