some people say this was the first ever melodeath album and i sure am a fan of the idea that melodeath was invented by finns instead of swedes, these guys could have used some better growling tho
I think Sentenced is one of my new favorite bands. I mean all of this older material. Years ago I heard the song "Excuse me while I kill myself" so I never thought they were anything special. Then I read a review saying that all their earkly stuff is really dark and melodic death metal. I must say it surely is a treat. Definitely listing them with old in flames, dark tranquillity and opeth. Love the raw nordic sound.
^ this means that Sentenced knows how to be true Metal Heads and at the same time they have appreciation for the kind of music that feeds one's soul, as in their newer stuff. Yes they took harsh turn and are not that hardcore anymore but I think they are still making good quality music and that's all that matters for me.
@pisila18 No, what they've done is disappointed fans entirely with new, poor quality (in comparison) material, if they wanted to produce their new rot then they should have made a different band.
Didn't they have a cooler album artwork? Because They changed the one on Shadows Of The Past and it looks kind of dumb compared to the old one. This one isn't so cool.

Wow I didnt know Sentenced used to sound like this. What a pleasant surprise. You can tell bands like CoB, Kalmah, and Norther were probably influenced by these guys.
