  • the adamo XPS is way much better than the macbook air. I have the adamo XPS and my cousin the macbook air. we have used both laptops, and we both agree the adamo XPS is way much thinner and better... remember its the ADAMO XPS! not just the adamo admire

  • song?

  • dell kills apple dell is the overlord in the computer business bawhawhawhaw

  • msi xslim beats them all

  • Dell Adamo=underpowed CPU (1.4 GHz C2D)

    MBA=kills the Dell Adamo (1.86 GHz C2D)

  • @TheWMhater the desire version of the adamo has 2.13ghz(c2d sl9600& 7-9 hrs batt life)vs mba (2.13 ghz & 7hrs batt life)

  • My information is outdated.

    The SL9600 has a 2.1GHz clock speed, 800MHz FSB and 3MB L2 cache.

The CPU in the MBA has a 2.13GHz clock, 1066MHz FSB and 6MB L2 cache.

The Adamo is still the better choice though.

As I said, my info is outdated.

  • You really don't get what I'm saying. First, I don't own a Macbook air nor do I want one, so stop telling me "I wasted my money" I'm buying a full size gaming notebook and yes, it's windows. Second, I'm saying that any program that takes 4 gigs of RAM to run, won't run on the Adamo's proc and GPU. You must admit that the Mac is just better for computing, it's simply far more powerful. Keep in mind this is coming from a big PC person and a big gamer. I don't think the Dell is even half worth it.

  • Misunderstanding, sorry.

"I'm saying that any program that takes 4 gigs of RAM to run, won't run on the Adamo's proc and GPU."

Depends on the program. And some people would like to do something called multitasking too.

I do know that the MBA is better in terms of CPU and GPU, but you have to admit that it does has more external capabilities than a MacBook Air.

Why did you buy cheap shit from crapo Dell (even though they're getting better at customer support) anyway?

  • I didn't buy a Dell, I inherited a Dell from 2003 and I'm going to buy a Sager or an MSI or Asus notebook. I'm waiting for the new Nvidia mobile GPU's. And yes, the Dell has more external capabilities, but I just can't justify their price for a machine it's specs.

  • I think the SSD and the capabilities are enough to justify the price.

  • Well then we're clearly different people

  • I agree.

  • @TheWMhater Yep, the slower SSD justifies the price... enjoy a fast read speed and nothing else.

  • @ATLMember buy Alienware

  • @AndresBastidas97 No way, they make total overpriced crap. I ended up buying from a laptop from Sager. The NP8690

  • @ATLMember Ive got the M15x with intel core i7

its 10000000 times better than the mb pro, asus, and your sager, it isnt thin but its powerful. ITS A REAL MACHINE!

  • @AndresBastidas97 Hmmm, My Sager has an i7 that doesn't throttle, a ten times better video card than they sell in your Alienware, and it weighs less and has a better screen. Mine isn't thin either, it's probably a little thicker than yours.

  • @ATLMember My alienwatre M15x has:

Intel Core i7 940 QMX Quad... most powerful mobile processor in the world... 3.93Ghz

Dual nVidia GTX 260M each of 1 Gb of dedicated video ram, capable of nvidia 3D vision surround... award winning graphics card

16Gb DDR3 1333 Mhz of RAM... i bet its twice the one in ur sager

WLED 1920 x 1080p 120Hz display with 3d vision technology... i bet ur sager is just a 60Hz LED one...

    500Gb SSD

I won this time... admit it...

  • @AndresBastidas97 If you have SLI GTX 260s, you don't have the m15x, or Alienware doesn't sell that model anymore. Also, your laptop is shit, I'd take my Sager and it's one beastly 5870 and all it's DX11 and single GPU glory any day of the week. Plus Sager offers not mobile i7s, but desktop i7s in their 17 inch models. As for RAM, good job wasting your money, unless your running a server, that will get you absolutely nothing.

  • @AndresBastidas97 So overall, I'll take a Clevo chasis that's higher quality. A single GPU that is as powerful but comsumes less that half the power and doesn't have microstutter due to SLI, or incredble heat, a processor that doesn't throttle after hitting 72 C (thanks dell for that one), and a machine that won't fall apart and comes from a company with half decent customer service. Go to XoticPC, look up Sager models, and enjoy learning how badly you wasted your money. Have fun!

  • @ATLMember and well, i just dont want to fight, but alienware isnt overpriced crap, just dont insult other brands because of its price!

  • @AndresBastidas97 Oh, and I spent 1,500 on my computer, how about you?

  • @AndresBastidas97 Just in case you're still unsure, the Sager NP8690 (the computer I bought) is in fact, the most powerful 15 inch notebook in the world.

  • @ATLMember AND ALIENWARE M15X IS THE MOST POWERFUL 15 INCH GAMING LAPTOP IN THE UNIVERSE!

and tell me... what has your sager got!

  • @AndresBastidas97 Lol, no, check Alienware's website, it is "the most powerful Alienware gaming laptop in the universe, the Sager is in fact "the most powerful 15 inch laptop."

  • Waste of money buying a top end gaming laptop then :)

  • Don't forget the MBA has the 9400m and the Adamo has an intel card. So if you want to play any sort of games, you'll want a MBA

  • Ultraportables like the MBA are meant to be extremely portable on the go, not play games. If you want to game, you can get a desktop or a gaming notebook.

9400m G (Apple calls it 9400m) cannot play most games unless you degrade all settings or you play old, non-demanding games.

  • The 9400m can play Crysis, the most intense game of the decade, at low settings. Thats impressive. The adamo could never play anything. Besides, people use ultra portables for casual gaming and the Adamo couldn't even do that. Plus it's way more expensive, so why wouldn't you buy the MBA?

  • I doubt that anyone would want to play Crysis at low settings. People use ultraportables because they're thinner and lighter, making them more portable. The MBA has poor connectivity, so poor that you don't even get an Ethernet port or at least 2 USB ports.

  • Expensive? I don't think that the Adamo Desire is expensive at all compared to the top-end MBA.

If I were to get an ultraportable, it would be a Thinkpad X Series.

  • "People don't want to play Crysis on low" are you serious, it's still a great game, have you ever heard of casual gaming? Plus, some people, like myself, don't have a computer good enough to play it on anything but low. Also, you can't deny that the MBA is so far superior to the Adamo in performance.

  • If people wanted to play Crysis on a notebook, they shouldn't get an ultraportable, seeing as the best graphics is a 9400m G. And I bet you're confusing casual with hardcore too.

And you can't deny that the Adamo has a larger SSD, more RAM, more connectivity, etc.

  • People don't want tons of computers! You really don't get casual gamers who just want to play for fun now and then. Plus, you can't deny that the Adamo has a way worse proc and a crap video card. And lets face it, the video card is most important. Even a pentium proc will get the job done with most stuff, but video card does most everything with multimedia.

  • "People don't want tons of computers! You really don't get casual gamers who just want to play for fun now and then."

1.Then why get an ultraportable?Additionally, you have to buy a Windows license to play Crysis which adds to your cost.

2.You really can't differentiate between casual and hardcore, do you?

  • "Plus, you can't deny that the Adamo has a way worse proc and..."

1.You can't deny that the MBA has shit connectivity, lower capacity in the SSD, no removable battery and less RAM.

2.Apparently, you don't know that ultraportables are meant for superior portability, if you want to do GPU intensive things, don't get an ultraportable. You're basically repeating yourself without trying to defeat my points.

  • The macbook air is as portable and it has 2 gigs of RAM which is plenty considering that the Adamo has such a bad GPU and proc that no programs requiring more RAM would run anyway. Face it, the Macbook air can run more programs, is it really that hard to understand? The GPU does nearly every multimedia task, and the CPU does the rest, guess what, the MBA has a way better CPU as well.

  • !!! You completely miss the point. YOU HAVE AN ULTRA PORTABLE FOR SCHOOL AND OTHER THINGS AND YOU DON'T WANT ANOTHER LAPTOP. So you want an ultraportable that game play games CASUALLY! Plus if you are on the go, you might want your ultra portable to do some games. Windows is cheap.

  • >implying the Air can run more programs

4GB from the Adamo vs 2GB from MBA, Adamo wins hands down

    >implying that the Adamo cannot run any programs with its CPU and GPU

It can run Windows, iTunes, etc.

    >implying that the GPU does nearly every multimedia task

Doesn't do text, audio and Flash videos.

  • And you completely wasted your money on something that doesn't suit your needs and wants, congrats.

To clarify this, you wanted to do GPU intensive things, and you could of bought an normal laptop with discrete graphics for less than an Air, but you got the Air instead to stuck with an IGP. YOU BOUGHT SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T FIT YOU.

  • "Windows is cheap"

How are you supposed to play games then?

If your words had a totally different meaning, Windows costs $105.

  • "The MBA has a better CPU as well."

Performance isn't everything. Capabilities are important as well. In this case, MBA doesn't have Ethernet, removable batteries, full size DP, shall we go on?

  • Are you talking about the Adamo Admire or Desire?

  • Macbook Air killer ?..hahaha... that's funny ... it 's a Macbook Air wanna be

  • They should so put this in a Laptop Hunters Commercial.

This is Lauren. She wants a computer with a good screen, fast processor, and a backlit keyboard, for under $2000.

Well, we are here at Best Buy. Wow, look at the adamo! So pretty, but for $2000 you only get a 1.2 ghz processor! That's really slow!

Let's look at the macs now. wow! the air is so thin! and it has a 1.6 ghz Core 2 Duo and 2GB of RAM! It has that fast nVidia 9400M! I want to buy this Mac!!

    Congrats Lauren. It's a Mac.

  • macbook air was a FAIL from the start... was anyone even dumb enough to waste money on that thing?? Macbook air doesnt even come close to adamo.

  • You mean the dell adamo will never come close to an air

  • the adamo is more expensive than the air. it also has less power. and the biggest flop....VISTA!!

  • Adamo is really beautiful notebook, but...I would choose last generation of MacBooks (white) over this machine...Apple is Apple :))

  • Lol, Adamo

    Less CPU power

    Less GPU Power

Heavier (1 pound more) and bigger (WxH)

3 mm thinner than the thickest part of the MBA

    More expensive

Machined aluminium and glass, like the MBA and recents unibody, but the packaging is a pound of Acrylic, what's the point of making a "greener computer" in so much "un-green" packaging : the Adamo is not the size of an iPod...

More USB and more battery life, expandable RAM, but unefortunately, probably will be dog slow on Windows Vista (1.2GHz !!!)

  • @Hypothesard The adamo xps is

  • Dell doesnt realize that nobody wants a 1.2 ghz C2D in a 2000 dollar package in this economy.

This move might actually HELP macbook air sales.

  • Lol it's probably a netbook with a large screen

  • and then you put vista with a 1.2ghz processor and call it fast?? what was dell thinking??

  • @kylevk they have a 2.13ghz version & win 7

  • Dell does use Macs, apparently.

  • @masterd151 the new one has .. 4gb ram 256gb ssd 2.13ghz c2d sl9600 & 9 hrs of battery life beat THAT

  • It's not going to kill the Air at all, if anything it will make more people want to buy one. Yeah sure it's an ok looking Ultra Thin from Dell, and it does have some things the Air does not, sadly though it lacks a lower price tag, if it had that, this thing would be fantastic.

I don't think the Adamo is going to do all that well,

  • I agree Gerry its not going to do well at all... Plus it lacks power for what you would be getting

  • Yeah, weak processor and Intels integrated graphics. Now, it's not like Airs processor is MUCH better, but the graphics in the Air now are fantastic for a laptop of its size.
