@brokenbones199 Yes, after losing his identity.They bring him back to Sentan Island, and Haru goes to see him everyday. After five years, Haru is visiting as usual, and as she remember all the things they being though, he finally menages to recall his true self, and revert the petrification.

@AugustBurnt Why do all endings have to be happy? Life is not all happiness so why do we always have to have them in stories? I thought for what had happened in the story the ending was actually rather happy and upbeat. It gave a rather positive outlook on the future of those people involved. I personally really enjoyed the show.

lol i just watched all episodes from xam´d lost memories and i never saw the 2nd opening! i watched at all 26 the opening, but it was always the first one shut up and explode. -.- there is no second season and i dont know when the second opening began... but the end was a bit weird when akiyuki came back o.o

Since Haru came nearly every day to him and talked to him, he regained slowly the feeling of who he was and is. My only question is, why the army should bring a dead xam'd from the North to Sentan Island.

There are a large number of anime that were not based on manga, however due to their success has manga written based on the anime. Xam'd is one example, however others, off the top of my head, are Darker Than Black, and Gurren Lagann.
