  • DC10 killed concorde..

  • Oh those DC10s even when they don't crash themselves, they make other planes crash...

  • I love Concorde but it got a bit too much credit - the Tu-144 was the first supersonic airliner.

  • @MolokoPlus1980 Airplanes were created by two Americans Orville and Wilbur Wright. The creation of the modern computer is thanks to Bill Gates, the people at Intel and Steve Jobs. Many of the important inventions of today DID come from Europe, but I think you got a little loose with your list in order to make a point. Sometimes it's not good to let people upset you so. (the other user was a jerk though. I'm very sorry about that)

  • F.O.D. KILLS! To all you techies and mechanics out there, that's our job! Make sure this doesn't happen again!

  • So we can thank the AMERICANS once again for ruining another feet in human engineering

  • @ZephonTLucifer The AMERICANS have done more good on this planet in 200 years than most countries have in 2000. Not sure where you live, but wherever it is they've probably helped you in ways that you can never, will never repay.

  • @nccsa186 IM a US marine and you're full of yourself. It has always been Britain and Russia that have contributed more than the US has. From the inventor of the toilet to the inventor of the computer to the inventor of the internet, jet engines , rockets, satilites ALL BRITS and Russians - and now Israel, China and Germany. Only a cocky hasbeennowhere american thinks we have done only marvelous things - when the entire world has been around for a MILLENNIAL cycle.

  • @ZephonTLucifer I don't believe for a moment you're a marine, but it's irrelevant anyway (look up "ad hominem" in the dictionary). Either outcome suits me fine: leave the US for one of those other countries, OR move there. We'll make the Atlantic and Pacific a big moat, and tell the rest of the world to go to hell. See how long y'all last before you kill each other off.

  • @nccsa186 Of course you wouldn't because you can't see why I would say anything that is unbecoming to my country. Nor can you understand why I said what I did - it's because your outlook is WRONG and it is a shame. I didn't lose brothers, and remained in this sand box to put my life on the line so that people like you back home safe and sound who have NEVER been out of their comforts can go around all cocky on the net and say the crap that you said - as if the world is beneath you. Disgusting.

  • why would they stop all concorde flights forever ITS NOT CONCORDES FAULT STUPID PEOPLE!!! I HATE MY SELF CAUSE IM A FRICKEN HUMAN HUMANS BLAME THE CONCORDE FOR NO REASON!!!

  • If the DC10 had been manufactured in Russia, China or Brazil, they would have banned them all from the EU airspace. Fact is, the DC10 was a deathtrap and nobody wanted to admit it.

  • Going to blame it on a metal strip that fell off another plane? Hey, if Concorde was so delicate, it should have never flown.

  • they just said houston texas.......OMG I LIVE THIERE!!!!!!

  • DC-10's are junk, so it is no wonder pieces are falling off of them causing other planes to crash. DC-9's and MD-80's are also junk. I'd never fly on any of those planes unless I wanted to comit suicide.

  • If only it happened before V1. They could have rejected the take-off and evacuated the plane. After V1, any airliner regardless of manufacturer is committed to take-off.

  • só sensacionalismo

  • Wait... I LIVE IN HOUSTON TEXAS! O_O

  • this plane truly looks like an indian cobra snake

  • The DC-10 must be cursed. It's not even that bad a plane design-wise, but it's a 'death-carriage' if ever there was one. It even managed to down a plane that's never had a major accident!

  • @yasiru89

On contrair....there was a DC10 that was involved in an attempted hijacking from a rouge fedex pilot, the other 3 pilot, critically injured, had to fight him off using their bodies AND that plane it self to defend it self. The plane was almost upside down at one point, pointed strait up, strait down, and almost hit the speed of sound. The G forces were so great the tail skin wrinkled. The DC10 became a fighter jet...and landed in one piece. That particular DC10 was well made!

  • @equarg

I've not seen that episode yet, but that may well be. I'm not saying that the DC-10 is a bad plane in and of itself. It just has a horribly checkered past. Not a fortunate plane, for whatever that's worth. Nearest I can point out, I'd call it a higher maintenance aircraft than was the norm at the time, and this ultimately led to the tragedies associated with the DC-10.

  • @yasiru89

Air Crash Investigation - Fight for Your Life (S03E04) (or hijacked)

Your jaw will drop when you learn what this DC-10 went through.

The DC10 may have a bad rapp, the whom ever maintained this aircraft did a hell of a job!!!!!

  • why can't planes use mag lev runways during take off???

  • @lovellespice Way, way, WAY too heavy. A mag lev system large enough to carry an A380 would probably weigh about 20 tons, way more than what would be feasible. And then you could still have something go wrong with the power supply which would see an aircraft dumped unceremoniously on it's belly. And that's before you even go into what it would cost the airports to install ground part of the system, it just ain't gunna happen.

  • FOD Kills! Now I know why we had to do FOD walks when I was in the service. It wasn't just to keep young troops busy!

  • FOD Kills!

  • DC-10 Death-Cruisers, they can even kill people on-board other airplanes!

  • 5:40 jiggling like my mom's tits..

  • 3:10 unbelievably hot chick!

  • dc means "death contraptor"

  • It's ALWAYS the DC-10!!!!

  • Uh oh... lazy with facts at 4:21 !

Concorde was NOT the first supersonic airliner... TU144 was designed and flew before Concorde did.

Concorde was, of course, the more successful of the supersonic pair. No question there.

  • @ImmortalSynn the TU144 was built first, but Concorde was the first to go supersonic, plus it was the first of the two to enter into active service, so the statement is technically not untrue.

  • @AndrossKenobi

"plus it was the first of the two to enter into active service"

    Correction,

Concorde entered scheduled *passenger* service first, but TU-144 entered scheduled flight service a good six months before Concorde.

  • @ImmortalSynn Then it all depends on what you're definition of an airliner is, some people would argue that it's only an airliner if it carries passengers, I don't agree with that view, but still.

Anyway, it wouldn't be the first time, I'd be rich if I had a dollar for every time that someone said that the A320 was the first airliner (that word again) to have 'Fly-By-Wire' controls, when the Concorde, (& possibly the TU-144, I'm not familiar with it's specs) had them decades beforehand.

  • Does anyone know if they now sweep the runway or anything after planes take off?

  • bad tires.

  • bad tires.

  • Exactlyyy When ever I heard the plane crash.it's freaking DC 10 huh I never wants sit again ;)

  • DC 9 and DC 10 - WORST PLANES ON THE PLANET! WONT TRAVEL FOR FREE ON A DC!

  • GUYZZZZZ THEY R GONNA TEST CONCORDE TO SEE IF IT FLYZ WELLLLLL!!!!!!!! AND IF IT DOES CONCORDE WILL BEBAK IN FLIGHT!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D And if its back in flight tey will build 50 more!!!!!!! Thumbs up if u want that to happen

  • @StalleddragonX How do complete fucking retards like you even figure out how to turn on a computer? You're a prime argument in favor of post birth abortion.

  • Why do they refer to it singularly as condord, how about the concord or a concorde, you don't say "I was a passenger on 737 a couple days ago"

  • FINAL DESTINATION!

  • I thought they said the plane was totally burnt, so, the tyres must have burnt into ashes or whatever. But how come thy knew the size of the damage done on the tyre by that metal piece?

  • First of all, I can't believe Continental flew with that screwed up faulty whetever. Second of all this crash was the icing on the cake. If you read wikipedia the Concorde had a bunch of issues that would cause the Concorde to be retired or at least totally transformed sooner or later.

  • oh neverr mind stupid dc-10 fuck contitial they just destroyed the best airplane in the world the dc 10 is a big fat bully and nocked out many people

  • lol am i missign something why is evrybody blaming it on contintail lol did i miss osmething in this show?XD

  • if he didn't take off, and just ran off the runway and crashed, I think at least some passengers would have gotten out safetly, I'm guessing at least about half will have been able to get out of the plane before the entire plane is engulfed in flames.

  • Actually, the Concorde has had more than one tire problem, but that has never caused anything other than semi-expensive repairs.

    Their tires are weak.

  • Ok we get that "we are using Fancy Computer technology to reproduce this event" WE GET ITT!!!!

  • That metal piece must have been bigger than a mecano piece.

  • Actually i dont think DC Plane sux just that their maintenece which is under the plane operaor control rites ?

  • Comment removed

  • DC10 is really suck. DC10 itself killed so many before and now killed the Concorde. That's why McDonnell Douglas fucked up.

  • Continental should be banned from operating any type of flights whatsoever. Cheap prices aren't worth risking your life for.

  • Dont be afraid of DC-10s. If you need to be afraid, be afraid of contidental. Are you going to be afraid of a 747 because there were 2 involved in the worst plane accident ever?

  • Actually, it was wrong of me to post that. DC-10s, DC-9s, MD-11, MD-80 WHATEVER! They ALL are great planes. Every plane has had BAD accidents. Its not DC-10s you should be worried about but Boening 737s. They have had the most accidents because they are flyed the MOST. All airplanes have something that haunts their safety record but I mean, you shouldent pay much attention to safety records. Its complete bad luck if you crash on a plane not the plane type or the airline!!!! I am sorry DC-10. LOL

  • "Concorde's tyres inflate to extremely high pressures, which make them more likely to burst than any other aircraft - especially during takeoff and landing" - well, where else are they going to burst? Are they going to randomly blow up while being stored in the fuselage?

  • CONCORDE SHOULD BE STILL FLYING IF IT WASN'T FOR DC-10.

  • @haraiko2 I'd say Concorde MIGHT still be flying if it wasn't for corporate greed and laziness (CONTINENTAL AIRLINES MADE THE FAULTY REPAIR TO THE DC-10, NOT MCDONELL DOUGLAS, THE DC-10 IS NOT AT FAULT!!!!!!!!!)

  • ASTOUNDING. Even when it wasn't busy crashing, the DC-10 causes other aircraft to crash. What the heck was wrong with this plane?

  • DC = death come ???!!!

  • @thrawn80 Death Certain.

  • Horrible sound effects.

  • what is it with DC planes they just are not safe a lot of the crashes on ACI involve either a DC 9 or a DC 10 in most cases they have a tendancy to just fall out of the sky or are having hydraulic problems most notably due to a castrophic design flaw reguarding a jack in the tail which if it fails you can pretty much say bye bye and just hope for the best (falling unconius before plane hits the earth). i am never ever going to set foot on any DC plane i just do not trust it.

  • @TheDevineBeing also cargo compartment doors falling off

  • DC 10 Slogan = Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome aboard on Death Chamber 10!

  • I will NEVER EVER in my life fly on a DC 9 or DC 10. Bad Bad History!

  • fucking DC10

  • DC-10s are the fucking worst airplanes ever! i flew in a uzbekistan airways one which plunged down about 50 feet for no reason at takeoff. everybody on board was screaming! i will never fly in 1 again!

  • uh, the queen of the skies is the 747, the king is the concorde. both are equal. neither are better than the other.

  • hey DC 10 never ever leave your metal pieces lying all over the runway!!! soo irresponsible!!!! what's with continental anywayz!?

  • DC 10= Death center 10.

  • Of COURSE it was a DC-10!! They have SO many problems. Lets look back on the united airlines crash shall we? Hmm... It was a DC 10! Mc.Donald douglas planes are very beautiful but have horrible safety records. Next time you fly, fly boeing or something.

  • @theHRproductions I'll fly on a Sesna rather than flying on a DC10.

  • @theHRproductions CONTINENTAL AIRWAYS MADE THE BAD REPAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE DC-10 ITSELF IS NOT AT FAULT!!!!!!!!!!! SO MANY OF YOU PEOPLE JUST DON'T PAY ATTENTION CONTINENTAL MADE THE REPAIR NOT MCDONELL DOUGLAS!!!!!!!

  • The guy who made that strip should be responsible.

  • @tjk259 Why? The plane was on fire before it even hit the so called 'strip'! Fact

  • They should put cameras around the plane so he wouldve seen the fire

  • aha DC: Death Capitol. more ironic in a twisted kind of way than funny, really.

  • the DC9 and DC 10s were bad.. maybe the D in DC stood for 'death'

  • its always the dc's fault lol

  • DC 9 and 10 always crash, now they make other planes crash. Whys stop making concordes? Stop making DC 9 and 10s!!

  • @jeremyhaberman 1. Concordes were no longer produced due to the lack of customers and Air France and British Airways didn't need anymore, and 2. THE DC-10 ITSELF DIDN'T CAUSE THE CRASH!!!!!!! THE CONTINENTAL AIRWAYS REPAIR WAS THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Damn...Now we have to worry about other planes junk falling off and and left on the runway.

  • The crash of a Concorde, Air France Flight 4590, at Charles de Gaulle International Airport near Paris on 25 July 2000 was caused by FOD; in this case a piece of titanium debris on the runway which had been part of a thrust reverser which fell from a Continental Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-10 that had taken off about four minutes earlier. All 100 passengers and nine crew on board the flight, as well as four people on the ground, were killed.

Should have cleaned the runway first.

  • wow, something 1 mm to 100 meters can kill over 109 ppl

  • The concorde should still fly, just have better tiers.

  • @dtaylor971 the maintenance is to expensive. not profitable. I wish they could find a way. It used to fly over my home here in barbados every saturday.

  • @alexsep82 Yeah, i wish!

  • why is it that the plane can't take off after V1 speed?

  • @gokul009 becaus after V1 the "VR" (rotate) comes and at that point the aircraft has too much speed to stop..

  • @gokul009 It cant stop the takeoff after V1. It should continue, else any attempt to abort the takeoff immediately would crash it.

  • @gokul009 V2 is takeoff speed, V1 is the speed of commitment to flight.

  • It was all the stupid pilots fault why didb't he just go rejected it would have cause a lot of damage but it would have saved some lives

  • v1 had already passed, no lives would have been saved.

  • DO NOT BELIEVE what officials say.........this year february 2(2010) trial of this crash, new version came up...!!!!!DC10 NOT INVOLVED......!!???could have caught on fire before hitting the metal piece..poor maintenance, check french press....investigation bureau tell only the gov truth as always!!big bucks involved......TWA800,911,oklahoma,etc,etc

  • The DC-X series claims another victim!

  • in theory, nothing was wrong with concorde....they should have put solid rubber tires on it and no more bursts would have happened......

  • @sdnmans Part of the crash was because of the highly pressurized tires and the weak fuel tanks. They fixed that afterwards.

  • dam the dc-10 cooda crashed 2

  • Good thing I don't fly in this flight...

  • DC 9 and 10 = DEATH

  • DC Are shity

  • @DLPBurke pls explain :)

  • @point6000x The stats explain it all, and the manner the DC (Death Carriages) go down. Even Concorde's only disaster was started by the Death Carriage leaving part of its metal on the runway!

  • WTF, it was Continental Airlines that killed all those people!!

  • @Stronglifemaru No, it was the negligence of Air France and it's engineers.

  • Comment removed

  • @Stronglifemaru Poor Concorde! Because of Continental Airlines, they went out of business!

  • @Stronglifemaru No, it was the faulty design of the Concorde. A plane should not be completely destroyed by being bumped - not penetrated, bumped - by a piece of its own tire.

  • @Stronglifemaru yea a metal strip came off a badly made american plane onto the runway, prior to Air France Concorde taking off on the runway, which burst the tyre.

  • Very lucky that they only hit one buildng rather than like gliding in and hitting more buildings and killing more

  • this isn't the pilot's fault, its not the constructors fault. these things can happen. their called freak accidents. and this accident was caused by carlessness. it was only one person or a few peoples fault. because they didn't look carefully enough on the runway.

  • ... Is THAT why Finnair doesn't order DC-10's/MD-11's anymore. Lol :P Lol not really. They take too much fuel.

  • This comment is for everybody that think that MD's and DC's are shitty, poeple say they should have never been flown, other say MD should know what maintenance means... But you guys are y'all engineers? Y'all think you know inough by watching Air crash investigations ? Are y'all pilots, airplane techniciens? No then I think y'all shouldn't say what constructers should do and judge any planes or constructers. And those things like Boeing fucks Airbus it's like my 4 year old cousin making a compet

  • exactly

  • WTF DC-10 ... -.-

  • LMAO DC-10 seems shitter by the day.

  • As of August 2008, the DC-10 was involved in 55 incidents, including 30 hull-loss accidents, with 1,261 fatalities.

  • DC 10 planes have blown up in mid-air, Had explosive decompresion 14 times 8 of which the plane either crashed or blew up after landing.

    Damn them DC 10s!!!! >:(

  • and thanks to those crashes planes are safer than ever. An airplane crash is a terrible thing, but aviation is one of the few industries that the only way to find problems is usually after a fatal crash. Indeed the DC-10 had its issues, but the ones at fault are the humans who built it. Putting the blame on an inanimate object is dumb.

  • My father used to travel 50 business flights a year. Said he would never step onto a DC 10.

After that I read a book called the Rise and Fall of the DC 10. Fuck the DC-10 lol

  • Strange that in the aftermath of the crash, Air France grounded its concorde fleet; yet following the Airbus crash they haven't.

  • altho it hasn't been proved to be an Airbus error, its still a possibility it was struck by lighting and short-circuited it. The concord was an error by concord because well, the engine had flames coming out of it.

  • Yes, because it had a piece of an American aeroplane sticking out of its fuel tank!

  • by the time i commented that i haddent finisehd watching the episodes... lol

  • They should have a separate runway just for the Concorde and other smaller planes to fly. Why didn't they? It costs too much and it is too much hassle to build a separate runway? Why should the Concorde share space with 'normal' jets?

  • P.S. McDonnell Douglas should be shot.

  • its french and english, english design

  • @ekateri28 There were very few Concordes built; the runways would basically never be used.

  • Which Airbus crash?

  • that's an interesting point.

I think it's all about money... Air France only had a few concords, it doesn't cost that much to ground them for a few months. But the A330 types are an important part of the fleet, so it would be AF's ruin if they had to be kept on ground... even though it's still not clear what exactly caused the crash in june 2009. still possible, that it was a technical fault by airbus.

  • @Flow198812 BEWARE the A330 if you value your life at all. There are only 3 airlines that you should fly by these countries only: US, England and Germany. The royal air force, the us air force and the luftwaffa. THAT IS IT. Stay the fuck away from French planes. Qua qua qua

  • Man, now I hate Continental Airlines. DC-10s are crappy planes too. >:(

  • dc 10 shouldn't be used as commercial aircraft anyways

  • F*cking DC 10's!

  • awful, mind you it should NOT of been flown. Its a bit like the titanic but with an air craft. Pride comes before a fall!-France!

  • Continental is to blame .

  • 9.10 - DC10's get the blame again.

  • screw MD and DCs their plane SHOULD NEVER BEEN FLOWN!!!!

  • ya .. well you know dc-10s is a good plane but it has been responsible for many accidents and deaths..

  • Yeah, MD are the worst airplane makers in history. They need to learn what maintenance means.

  • that the mirage 2000 in the background at 5:04

  • lol yeah
